IMO, intelligence is simply the appropriate application of wisdom combined with knowledge.

That would be my take on it, I would only add that I've heard it said there are 7 different kinds of intelligence such as literal, scientific, mechanical, artistic, gymnastic etc. etc. So most people are intelligent in one form or another. What a lot of them lack is common sense.

To me, there's only one. What you mentioned about 7 kinds occurs to me to simply be different applications of intelligence.

Everyone has common sense. It's what told people that the planet was flat at one time. Good sense showed us the planet ain't flat.

That's your conclusion LG ,
It's supported by observed evidence.
Happy New Year.
Same.

The disciplines that you have mentioned are just knowledge .A fool may say I want to go to University , I want to be intelligent ...Well,after 4-5 years of studying he will still be an educated fool. You don't "study" intelligence .

Common sense ....that must be a blessing of intelligence .

Oh.......................I kind of thought that sense by its definition is good. I had a neighbour years ago on Vancouver Island who I doubt could handle the grade 3 reader but could take an engine apart and put it back together in the dark, more than likely while drunk. Depending on what type of intelligence you are looking at he could come across as either an idiot or a genius.

Perhaps it has something to do with the thought process, also. After a person has screwed up a number of times, he might come to the conclusion he is too impetuous, so decides before making a final decision on anything to research it more and then "sleep on it", with totally different results hence converting himself from stupid to intelligent.

One can see that an intelligent mind is a mind which is not satisfied
with explanations, with conclusions; nor is it a mind that believes, because belief
is another form of conclusion. An intelligent mind is an inquiring mind, a
mind that is watching, learning, studying. Which means that there is
intelligence only when there is no fear, when one is willing to rebel, to go
against the whole social structure in order to find out what God is, or to discover
the truth of anything.

The above is taken from the original post .

And that also 'goes' for the "flat earth"

Actually the "flat earth" philosophy is not really dumb. People in those days probably didn't travel more than 10 miles from home in their entire life, so for their purpose flat earth was functional, while oblate sphere would serve no purpose for them whatsoever.

lol Keep digging.

I'm not sure about that, there's a lot of subjects that I know I am ignorant. -:)
That's wise.

I didn't say it was dumb. I said it was common sense.
Um, and more accurately, the planet is an oblate spheroid.

You are realizing that there is allot you don't know ....and that's intelligence .
Nope. That's wisdom.
