We're having a party on the 21st with bonfires, food. refreshments, music, burning effigies of mindless consumer culture and sacrificing a wild Rhino to our future Gawd. Can't wait!

Get your Countdown clock to the end of the world here..

On December 21st, 2012 A.D. the ancient Mayan Long Count Calendar comes to an abrupt end. There are many scientific theories and historic prophecies that claim this will be the end of times. What is really going to happen at the end of the calendar 2012, doomsday, the end of the world? Only time will tell. ;)

It's amazing just how much the US Government is playing this up?? Why?

U.S. government insists 2012 apocalypse is a myth - CBS News

I feel like a good movie this weekend..

I love in the movie when the guy say; "when the government tell you not to run, that is when you RUN!!"

So the government coming and reassuring the public there will be no event on the 21st of December is not very reassuring.. LOL

Never did see that movie.. looks very cool

Newfound Asteroid Buzzes Earth Inside Moon's Orbit

A newfound asteroid gave Earth a close shave early today, zipping between our planet and the moon just two days after astronomers first spotted it.

The near-Earth asteroid 2012 XE54, which was discovered Sunday (Dec. 9), came within 140,000 miles (230,000 kilometers) of our planet at about 5 a.m. EST (1000 GMT) Tuesday (Dec. 11), researchers said. For comparison, the moon orbits Earth at an average distance of 240,000 miles or so (386,000 km).

Astronomers estimate that 2012 XE54 is about 120 feet (36 meters) wide — big enough to cause substantial damage if it slams into Earth someday. An object of similar size flattened 800 square miles (2,000 square km) of forest when it exploded above Siberia's Podkamennaya Tunguska River in 1908.

2012 XE54 will be coming back to Earth's neighborhood before too much longer. The asteroid completes one lap around the sun every 2.72 years.

Scientists have discovered about 9,000 near-Earth asteroids to date, but perhaps a million or more such space rocks are thought to exist.

And some of them are potentially dangerous. Observations by NASA's WISE space telescope suggest that about 4,700 asteroids at least 330 feet (100 m) wide come uncomfortably close to our planet at some point in their orbits.

So far, researchers have spotted less than 30 percent of these large space rocks, which could obliterate an area the size of a state if they slammed into Earth.

Wouldn't you??

Kind'a wonder how Harper can stay awake and listen to all that Liberal gibberish when in session.

Frankly, no. I am much younger.
I think we are confusing parliamentary debate in a democracy with the discussions in an American cabinet meeting convened by the US president.

The US admin missed a golden opportunity to rake in billions off of this issue.

"Send money before Dec 21 so we can ensure that the world doesn't come to an end!"
C'mon....the govt can't do anything right with the billions they collect now, what makes you think they can help here. Send it to me instead...guaranteed to help...me that is. ;-)

The United States government has taken to the blogosphere to reassure nervous citizens that the world is not going to end on December 21st.

Ironically, Washington chose to use the Internet to spread the message that Internet rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.

“False rumors about the end of the world in 2012 have been commonplace on the Internet for some time,” USA.gov, the US government’s official web portal, said in a blog post published on Monday. “Many of the rumors involve the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 (it won’t), a comet causing catastrophic effects (definitely not), a hidden planet sneaking up and colliding with us (no and no), and many others.”

“Unfortunately, these rumors have many people frightened, especially children. NASA has received thousands of letters concerned about the end of the world. David Morrison, a planetary astronomer and senior scientist for NASA who answers questions from the public about astrobiology, says, ‘At least once a week I get a message from a young person– as young as 11– who says they are ill/and or contemplating suicide because of the coming doomsday,” the government blog continues.

With an entry titled “Beyond 2012: Why the World Won’t End,” NASA’s website has also addressed the most popular doomsday rumors. These include the well-debunked Mayan calendar ‘prophecy,’ adverse planetary alignments, the Nibiru hoax, magnetic polar shift, solar storms, meteor or comet strikes, and “total blackout.”

“The world will not end in 2012,” NASA’s web page states. “Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.”

“December 21, 2012 won’t be the end of the world as we know, however, it will be another winter solstice,” NASA adds with a hint of humor.

The United States isn’t the only nation whose government has tried to reassure its citizens that the world will still be here in 2013. In Russia, some citizens have reacted with panic as December 21 nears, prompting the country’s minister of emergency situations to declare over the weekend that the world is not going to end anytime soon.

This is the second time this year that the US government has officially denied the threat of apocalyptic scenarios that seem straight out of science fiction or horror movies. In June, the Centers for Disease Control denied the existence of zombies during a wave of grisly, cannibalistic crimes.

Does a sign come up over the earth with music saying "THE End"
Good God there is so much crap that people actually belief.
The world will shift
the objects from the heavens hit us
jets pour chemical into the sky to harm us
the 9/11 disaster was government caused or was it the Jews?

It shows the money we spend of education does not help the right people
The end cannot come because the NHL lockout is not over and they have
to play the playoffs on time.
