You're missing the point: they created the sh*tstorm, therefore it is absolutely on them.

How far do you think that would get in court? Actually they didn't create the sh*tstorm, the sh*tstorm was how others chose to take it!

If the hospital decided to take the DJ's to court, you can expect that one of the goals would be to break the DJ's financially by driving their defense costs through the roof. There are many groups that use this strategy to make their point.

Regardless of the reason, the 2 radio personalities would remember (and probably paying) for this stunt for years to come

Actually they didn't create the sh*tstorm, the sh*tstorm was how others chose to take it!

.. They did create it... They made the decision to call under the guise of the Queen and family.. No one had a gun to their head(s) on this.

Did you never phone anyone pretending to be someone else?

A doctor is being interviewed on C.B.C. radio right now about this case. So far it has NOT been established that this is a suicide, it could be a heart attack or cerebral hemmorhage. His take on it is the whole thing has been overblown!

I understand that the police have not issued a statement that indicates what the cause is... But that is secondary to the issue that no one forced these 2 Australians to make that crank call.. They alone made the decision and they alone should shoulder the brunt of any fall out.

The notion that people 'do it' all the time is irrelevant; fact is, these 2 did it and if there are any consequences, they alone must pay that cost

We'll have to agree to disagree, it's the intent that counts and there was no evil intent. -:)

I don't think they're to blame for the death

Yes, they are.

They're morning show shock jocks, their job is to be cutting edge funny.

It's just a pity that a lot of modern "comedy" involves poking fun and making cruel and sick jokes against other peoples. It's reminiscent of the Victorian freak shows.

Such "humour" has become more and more prevalent in recent years and now it has finally killed somebody.

If we haven't learnt from the 2008 Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand affair that such cruel and sick pranks need to stop then maybe we will learn that from this affair.

I've been waiting on someone to start a Thread on, "What will Kate & Will name
that baby!: but it just hasn't happened yet. I was going to play the long odds and
go with 'Barack' regardless of the gender.

I don't think they're to blame for the death, nor do they deserve to lose their jobs.

Good to see there is someone with a sensible "take" on this matter! There is already enough "fault" and "blame" in the world, without having to attach them to situations where NO ONE could have predicted a tragic outcome!

I understand that the police have not issued a statement that indicates what the cause is...

It has now been revealed that Mrs Saldanha hanged herself and that she had left a note to her family.

Her husband Benedict Barboza, 49, who is an NHS accountant, her son Junal, 16, and her daughter Lisha, 14, yesterday travelled from their home in Bristol to London to meet with Labour MP Keith Vaz. Vaz said that the family were demanding answers from the hospital about the circumstances that led to her death.

Mrs Saldanha, whose body was found in the hospital's staff accommodation she used during the week, returned to the family home at weekends.

She had been expected home as usual last Friday when police broke the news of her death.

Mr Vaz said: 'They [the family] were in the dark about the hoax call. They hadn't watched the news or seen anything about it. They didn't know they were involved until after Jacintha's death.'

Mr Vaz, who has met hospital chairman Lord Glenarthur to demand a full inquiry, said: 'What the chairman of the hospital said to me was that there are inquiries going on in the hospital.

'That is not sufficient for the family. There are unexplained circumstances. The family want to know everything. All the facts, fully and clearly.'

Mr Vaz added: 'The hospital needs to be more pro-active, a full inquiry is needed and the family need to be included in that.

'They are a lovely close-knit family, a Catholic family who will be spending their first Christmas without their mother, and for Ben, without his wife.'

The company which owns the Australian radio station, Southern Cross Austereo, yesterday cancelled its staff Christmas party and said it would donate the rest of the year's advertising revenue – some £320,000 – to a memorial fund set up in Mrs Saldanha's name by the hospital.

Chief executive Rhys Holleran said: 'We hope ... we can help to provide the Saldanha family with the support they need at this very difficult time.'

The hospital said it would 'welcome' the gesture.

Yes, they are.
Well there ya have, Blackleaf says so.

It's just a pity that a lot of modern "comedy" involves poking fun and making cruel and sick jokes against other peoples.
That isn't what they did, but I'm forced to ask...

WTF happened to you Brits?

You guys used to have balls. Guts. Stiff upper lips.

Now you all sound like pussies.

It's reminiscent of the Victorian freak shows.
They still have those. I hear there's one at London SW1A 1AA, United Kingdom.

Such "humour" has become more and more prevalent in recent years and now it has finally killed somebody.
No it didn't. She killed herself.

If we haven't learnt from the 2008 Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand affair that such cruel and sick pranks need to stop then maybe we will learn that from this affair.
Not even remotely similar, other than being funny, somewhat.

Good to see there is someone with a sensible "take" on this matter! There is already enough "fault" and "blame" in the world, without having to attach them to situations where NO ONE could have predicted a tragic outcome!
There's enough real blame to go around, where needed. it isn't needed here.

We're talking oranges and apples here, I'm talking blame for the death, you're talking breach of protocol! There is NO way they are to blame for the death.
Not legally anyway.
Yeah, the nurse just did what she did for the hell of it and it had nothing to do with the lack of ethics on the DJs' part.

"Oh, I didn't know it was unethical to yell "fire!" in a mall and I didn't intent for anyone to get hurt, let alone trampled in the rush".

"I didn't know it was unethical to look in the folder sitting on the doctor's desk and pretend to be a close relative of who the folder's files were about and spread the info around town".

Good thing that isn't what they did.

Unless it's in the publics interest.

They got access to personal files?

I thought they were told that she was fine just tired and dehydrated.

How delicate.

Tired and dehydrated. Meh. It was already common knowledge in the media.

I can think of bigger worries in life.

Sounds a lot like first world problems to me.

Does it have to be?
Nah, we should all be able to pull off whatever tricks n practical jokes we want in order to get our jollies.

I was referring to your doctors folder analogy.
Ah. Sidetracking the discussion by referring to an example and not the real issue. strawman

One's medical info shouldn't be available or made available to anyone other than the doc's or the patient's regardless of the conten of the medical info.
