When I go back to the Island I'd be pulling the 5th Wheel, so will probably need 3 wallets. I checked out the lakes on Yahoo maps, found Oyama (I was already aware of it) and Streak but couldn't find Beaver or Dee. Looks like good road into Oyama Lake, are all the other ones accessable by decent road (don't want to tear an axle off my new truck) Where are Beaver and Dee compared to Streak?

Dee Lake looks interesting. It's a little late in the year now to go check out stuff at the 4600' elev. but come April we'll be checking it all out.

I'm amazed that you have yet to. It's (the plateau) best part of the entire OK.

Well, they are nice people, actually he is one of my best friends and Mabel Lake is a nice place so it's not quite as simple as "screw them"-:) (he's very limited with rheumatoid arthritis)

Someone said the Okanagan is a great place to live but not for tourists. I suppose it is what you
are into. We have some of the best beaches, wine tasting, orchards and fresh fruit, golf courses
everywhere, and hiking trails, and mountain scenery on the back roads. The ski hills have summer
activities now with emphasis on the mountain. There are also some spots that are quite unique.
Every been along the KVR especially the Mira Canyon. It was a southern rail line that extended
across the south end of the Province that was built to ensure Canadian interests were achieved.
The Mira Canyon is part of the Trans Canada Trail now and it is over seven miles of canyon
scenery with 18 trestles and two tunnels carved into the mountain. You can use a bicycle or walk.

I have been in every province in this country and each has its own unique features that we as Canadians
share we are probably the luckiest people in the world to have all these features inside our boarders.
No sense running down any part of the nation it is part of our collective assets. I have enjoyed the things
I have seen the places I have been and the people I met along the way.

Without knowing what someone enjoys, it's impossible to tell them where their best place to vacation is. I have friends that LOVE the Okanagan valley because of its tourism bustle, the vineyards, the shopping, the restaurants. I have other friends who LOATHE it for that reason. They want to be secluded, away from everyone else. I have friends who love camping, friends who prefer museum trips. Friends who want scenery, friends who want arts festivals. Some people are looking for adult adventures, some for family. Throw a dart at a map of Canada, and you can find something to do, it's just a matter of what's right for your specific tastes.

I've walked the K.V.R. but probably not in the area you are thinking............Grand Forks, Christina Lake area. When I stated earlier that the Okanagan was not a good tourist area, I misspoke, I was thinking more of Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon specifically. Places any normal person wants avoid on holidays except maybe to buy groceries-:)

Yeah, it's sure screwed him up, he got it at about age 40 (26 years ago) pretty much every joint is screwed, spurs sticking out everywhere, luckily he can still walk (shuffling along quite slowly), but hey, he hasn't lost his humour and still drinks rum!

9 years now with OA. Summer is great, but come winter, the chills and aches are non-stop. Ah well, you win some, you lose some, there is no point being upset about it.

Yeah, that's another bugger, my wife suffered with Bursitis for 25 years until we were finally able to leave the coast.
