2012 Presidential Games: The Dream Team vs The Drain Team

- As a political observer, I expect the 2012 presidential race to be a cliff hanger and I am not at all sure that the most experienced and qualified team will beat the team with the cool and seemingly likable but privately narcissistic and viscious guy with the **** eating grin who is so good at promising people something for nothing, at diverting attention from his own dismal record and at demonizing the opposition.

- But as a former long time executive recruiter, I am drooling at the prospect of a true Dream Team who have the perfect blending of the necessary experience, knowledge, skills and character to run the colossal federal executive branch at a time of particularly difficult challenges facing the United States.

- The Romney-Ryan Dream Team features a mature, seasoned 65 year old with a brilliant career in the private sector and acknowledged NGO success as an olympics leader and public sector success as a state governor coupled with a dynamic, idealistic, young 42 year old who is an acknowledged wizard at knowing and, more importantly, at actually understanding federal finances and budgeting and who has extensive legislative and public policy experience.

- With Romney tackling the job of leading the revitalization of the private sector as he so often did in revitalizing failing private companies, of setting the focus, pace and tone and selecting the most senior executives of the executive branch utilizing his undisputed executive skills and, of making a real start in the process of ensuring that public sector staffing, compensation and productivity matches private sector norms as he has pledged to do and with Ryan playing a leadership role in tackling the budget and entitlement challenges (which, by the way, will be much less than feared if Romney follows through on reforming the public sector), it seems to me that even central casting could not have dreamed up a team with better complimentary experience, knowledge and skill sets to address the major real problems facing America.

- And then, of course, we have facing The Dream Team the Democrat`s duo who may rightly be dubbed The Drain Team.

- Obama with no pre-presidential resume or relevant experience to speak of and Biden who matches the Obama resume when it comes to being clueless about the private sector, about the economy and about the executive functions have shown ability at draining the government coffers dry with huge multi-trillion dollar debts that accomplish nothing of lasting value, at draining the wallets of the rich and the middle class in supposed efforts to rescue the poor that actually do little for the poor but plenty for the public sector and for other cronies of the Democratic party and, at draining the confidence, enthusiasm, dynamism, risk taking and productivity from a business sector that heretofore has been the most successful engine of dynamic economic growth and general prosperity in the history of the world.

- So we have The Dream Team superbly equipped to face and solve the major real problems facing America and we have The Drain Team that is proven to be well equipped to drain the residual vitality, dynamism and prosperity that somehow still exists in America.after four years of them in power.

- Will it be a continuation of the Obamanation which is in reality an obamination led by The Drain Team or a restoration of American pride and exceptionalism led by The Dream Team and the success, growth and prosperity that will result from this change in government?

- Either way, Dream Team or Drain Team, it will signify a crossroads for America.

JLM ... So would I but it is still much too close and too early to call in my opinion. However, the most reliable poll which is the Rasmussen tracking poll of 1500 likely voters has Romney up by 3 points as of yesterday`s count so this is encouraging.

- If Romney gets a bump from the GOP convention two weeks from now and bests Obama in at least two of the three debates (Ryan will wipe the floor with Biden in their VP debate) and if the tens of millions of advertising dollars which Romney will be able to spend after he is confirmed as the GOP candidate at the convention is used to good effect including getting down into the Chicago sewer with Obama when necessary (its easier for Romney because while Obama has to lie about Mitt, Romney merely has to tell the truth about Barry), then the Romney-Ryan ticket should triumph and maybe even in a rout.

- Unless the economy miraculously and entirely unexpectedly rallies over the next two and a half months or Obama gets embroiled in a war which is the ultimate diversion and rally around the incumbent president election strategy or Romney or Ryan commit huge debate gaffes or Mitt is discovered by Rachel Maddow in a closet at his campaign headquarters boffing his secretary, his pool boy and his wife Ann's olympic horse, it would then be the GOP's to lose.

True, the most experienced team being Obama, since he's the only one with experience in the office.

- Ten Penny ... You're a riot, Ten Penny, and your opinions are worth every penny in your name. Yes, Barry Obama the community organizer and part time law school lecturer and part time Illinois senator and utterly failed president has a resume with experience and accomplishments similar in magnitude and relevance to Mitt Romney's.

- You're hilarious, Ten Penny, don't ever change.

The Romney-Ryan Dream Team features a mature, seasoned 65 year old with a brilliant career in the private sector
by shafting the American worker, and sending his loot (along with their jobs) overseas to avoid contributing to 'reducing the deficit'

a dynamic, idealistic, young 42 year old who is an acknowledged wizard at knowing and, more importantly, at actually understanding federal finances and budgeting and who has extensive legislative and public policy experience.
 good grief.. he's one of these drooling neoconservative morons, with that empty thousand yard stare they get when talking about 'big government'.. who grew up under and go ape when they see a picture of that idiot Ronald Reagan.. and are utterly clueless about how economies really work. They don't even know what real 'conservatism' is... they're libertarians.. classic economic liberals.

As bad as Obama has been in his tenure.. it's just difficult to see him losing these couple of keystone cops.. it's a slapstick comedy duo.. with Ryan as the straight guy and Romney as the fall guy.. he puts his foot in mouth every time he opens it. If not a landslide.. i expect it to be a decisive Obama win.

Dream Team.. right..

So, by 'experience', you don't mean experience at this position, you mean 'experience doing something else'.

I suppose you figure that the best mechanic would be someone who has experience as a cashier.

Be careful tossing out the 'experience' concept - the only one in the race for President of the US who has experience at that job is Obama.

Well Teddy as an experienced recruiter you know the old saying about opinions- care to repeat it for me.

Are you only interested in hearing the Republican Party Line?

In the final analysis does it really matter who is elected? Whoever it is does what they are told by big business and big labour to start with. Obama and Romney are nothing more than puppets. The biggest crime is the $billions wasted every four years on this charade. If I had my way I'd give them each a day to state their platforms, then we'd flip a coin!

Obama is going to win. It's funny if people think Romney, the guy who was behind in national polls 7-9 points to an incumbent President just last week, is going to win now just because he chose a running mate. Running mates, at most, just give the candidate 2 percentage points in the running mate's home state, according to history, and the chose of Paul Ryan has had a mediocre reaction in polls so far.

This is a problem. Rasmussen Reports has an empirically verifiable Republican house effect. So much so that it's common knowledge now that if a Democrat is only behind three points in the Rasmussen poll, it actually means the Democrat is ahead.

Obama will win this easily as most people can already smell a rat in Romney.

Then the tit forgets what state he's in and even mimicks the signing lady. What a piece of work this pinhead is.

Imagine if Hillary took the VP job- She would wipe the floor with both Romney and the rob from the poor partner he has. If hse did they would take about 290-300 electoral votes.
Neither one can point out on what they agree or disagree on with Ryans tax plan- make the poor pay for the rich to have tax cuts.

As much as the people here at Canadian Content Forums ridicule the U.S. news media, you guys fall for their storylines a lot. A big line you're falling for now: Paul Ryan is a genius, a conservative Republican policy expert.

Anyone who actually pays close attention to Congress would realize the problem with this. When they heard the news, many went, "Paul Ryan? The guy who only as much changed the federal tax on arrows in his 13 years in Congress? lol"

Speak for yourself, I'm certainly not falling for that line.

Growing pains on campaign trail for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan as Obama sharpens attack on GOP Medicare plans | News | National Post

Romney has praised his running mate’s budget ideas but also says there are differences between their budget proposals — while not yet detailing what those differences are.

Two days after formally selecting Ryan to complete the GOP ticket, Romney publicly praised the congressman’s work as necessary to protect the long-term survival of Medicare, the government-run health insurance program for the elderly.
Really - A few like Ryan- a very few.

Ryan has “come up with ideas that are very different than the president’s,” Romney said in Florida, the state with the highest percentage of residents age 65 and over. “The president’s idea for Medicare was to cut it by $700 billion. That’s not the right answer. We want to make sure that we preserve and protect Medicare.”

Romney did not say so, but the plans Ryan produced in the past two years as chairman of the House Budget Committee retain the $700 billion in Medicare cuts even as they call for repealing Obama’s health care plan.

Romney is benefiting from the energy, campaign buzz and ideas that come with Ryan, the 42-year-old rising political star from Wisconsin. Yet Romney also aligned himself with Congress, whose public approval of its performance was a lowly 22 percent in an AP-GfK poll earlier this summer, compared with nearly 50 percent for Obama.

Ryan is chairman of the House Budget Committee. His name is ideologically synonymous in Washington with controversial plans for cutting spending.

Long before Romney announced Ryan as his running mate Saturday, Obama himself sought to link the two men. The president sees Ryan as the budgetary voice of a “prescription for decline” in America in which government policies help the rich at the expense of everyone else.

It's interesting that people still think a president can create instant prosperity with a collapsed real estate market. The only solution is time.
