I'm enjoying the 'diamond jubilee', and a great lead up to the summer olympics as well.
Its nice that diana brought some more height into the family, I know phillip is fairly tall
but charles was left out, and his sons look very tall and regal compared to him, he could get lost
in a crowd quite easily, the security guys must get annoyed trying to keep tabs on him, although he
would be much harder to get a bead on by a sniper.
The queen looks very short beside her grandsons, and she is 5'5", so not that short for a woman.
I'm sure princess anne is taller than charles.
both of my grandmothers were 4'11", and my grandfather was 5'5", but my dad was 6 ft, and my mother 5'4", my sister and brother, not tall, i am 5'8", so lucky me, i'm thankful for those genes coming my way.

I've often thought that the idea of Charles on the throne is what keeps Elizabeth alive.
She is still on the throne because she made a promise to the people that she would devote her entire life to the monarchy and the people. She is making good on that promise. With the health problems the Prince regent has had of last it would be very easy for her to step aside. To her though, a promise is a promise and it shall not be broken.
I'm liking it as well. I was very impressed with the flotilla.

Or he was referring to Eddy 8,the one who married the american divorcee,and since Charles married a commoners(i guess she's one) monarchists won't want to see her become a queen.
It's just peasants as far back as we've been able to trace things, to 17th century Ireland, though my wife has a direct line mostly through the distaff side to Edward I, her 25-greats grandfather, and William the Conqueror, her 30-greats grandfather. The odds are probably pretty good that there are thugs and warlords on my side too, the number of multi-greats grandparents we all have 25 generations back is over 33 million people, and 30 generations is over a billion, more than the planetary population in the 11th century I suspect, so clearly the same people must occur repeatedly in both my maternal and paternal line of descent.
But if so they weren't very successful, 'cause I'm not royalty.
The Queen has several million "Cousins" in the 20th cousin range or higher. She is my cousin in 17 different ways, ranging from 23rd cousin to 35th cousin, one generation removed. Hardly close enough to ever be invited to tea, even at the largest "Garden Party".
I have closer relationships to earlier Scots Royalty, but they are from illegitimate children, so have no status at all.
Thankfully, my 3rd Great Grandfather had his tombstone engraved before he died in Wallace, NS, and listed his parents by name in Blair Athol Parish, Perthshire, Scotland. That makes it a LOT easier to trace the family line, when your ancestors were so thoughtful.
If I remember right I think Edward III was good and #4 or #5 got snuffed out in the Tower!
Its already been made known that she will NOT be referred to as "Queen" when Charles becomes King. Same as Prince Philip is not referred to as "King" .
