Caps over Bruins

Rock on Capitols!

And they now lead the series 3 to 2 and are off to Washington to play game 6. Braden Holtby let in one he should have had but didn't let it bother him and skillfully managed to keep the Bruins from a tied score when the latter had an empty net. Not a terrific game for the Caps but they outscored the Bruins and that warms the cockles of my heart.

Rangers and the Senators up next, love these double-headers when they are early in the day!

GO SENATORS GO!

Oh yeah, forgot thomas, great goalie, but I was surprised to find out that the clan was interested in hockey, oh well, live and learn. lol lol

Thomas let one in today that gave the lead to the Caps and they never looked back. He should've, could've had it but was just a bit too cocky and sure of himself. Ha, ha, ha.

too bad alfredsson can't play, but he is skating now, so if they can hang in there and keep winning,
he wil be back to join them soon.

I am cheering for phoenix over chicago, after duncan keith put daniel out for so long, I don't wish
anything good for them at all, and I like phoenix, and their goalie is awsome.

Senators over Rangers

And the Sens lead the series 3 to 2! Rock on Senators, well done. Craig Anderson gets a shut-out. Jason Spezza had opening and closing goals and Mark Stone formerly of the Brandon Wheat Kings gets an assist on Spezza goal during his debut in the NHL! What a game.

I doubt there will be anyway to keep Alfie off the ice and in the game now, talloola especially in his own backyard, so to speak.

I can understand how you feel about Keith, talloola but I am going with Chicago because I really like Jonathan Toews and doubt he was impressed with Keith's hit. So we will be in opposition for this one.

Mind you, I do have reservations about Crawford - he's going to have to have one spectacular game and he hasn't been too hot lately.

Panthers win 3 - 0.

St. Louis over San Jose 3 to 1 with an empty-netter to seal the deal and take the series.

We did, we did............and I am so happy for the Senators especially. Imagine taking it to the mighty NY Rangers in their own house! Ha, Ha, Ha Torterella.......................looks good on him and the team.

I know I shouldn't be so nasty about Torty but that guy gets under my skin something fierce - talk about whiners!

Weasel is the nicest name I can think of for that pawn of the owners - his backbone must be spongy by now for all the bending back and forth he does in their name and to the detriment of the players and teams, really. The sooner he is gone, the sooner the league will hopefully move forward. IMNSHO!

NS (not so)

The guys on TSN are trying to disect the hit by Neil, to see if he was in the air before contact etc. What a bunch of nonsense. Play them at real time and there is absolutely no difference between Neil's hit and Torres. So what does he get ,15 games, 20 games? For playing hockey.

The players are great but the league office is a sham.

The only differenmce between Neil and Torres is Torres doesn't have an owner that can tell Bettman where to shove it.

I don't know anything about Neil, but I bet there is one more difference, maybe 75 I.Q. points................Torres is not a fast catcher onner, so I'm guessing maybe he got 5 games for the infraction and 20 games for poor paying attention skills!

In my opinion, the hits are not the same. It will be interesting to see if there is any response from
shanahan at all.
He didn't leave his feet at all until the end of the hit, the impact of the hit caused
his feet to come off the ice, and that is common with many hits.
It wasn't a head shot.
It wasn't interference.

Neil only has one prior offence, and it was a fine, there is no comparison to
he and torres as far as past offences.

If one wants to be sucked in by everything torterella said, go ahead, he is full
of horse***t.

The phoenix coyotes are owned by the NHL, so one would think they would be favouring
their own team, not so.

phoenix and chicago are tied at 1, game almost over. phoenix was leading 1-0 most of the game, but
chicago tied it up during the 3rd period, heading for overtime.

lets go phoenix

UPDATE; chicago won it in O T, oh well, on they go.

yeah, lol
if you go into NHL.com, and find shanahan's report on suspensions, he lists everything torres was
suspended for, quite a rap sheet indeed.

I must differ with you, Kreskin. The hit was not late, it was a body hit and Neil's feet didn't leave the ground prior to the hit. That is what I saw no matter the speed of the film.

I am so happy for Captain Serious - great that he got the winning goal.

I simply can't understand a coach that would put someone like Stalberg back on the ice, let alone after so many penalties. I would have benched him - the creep. And then he gets an assist on Toews winning goal, sometimes there is no justice. Kane is going to have to up his game if they want to tie the series back in Chicago.

Corey Crawford did a good job when he needed to and let Chicago figure out their game plan, which they had to more than a few times.

Well I am 3 for 3 on the day, actually though I wasn't able to watch the Blues/Sharks game, I was pulling for the Blues and they came through and go on to the second round, so 4 for 4 on the day. 8O

I saw a replay of the goal that Martie Brodeur let in today, that will haunt him for sometime and he played so well in the last game. Always best to play it a bit safe Martie.

Speaking of goalies, I really liked the shots that Crawford and Smith made in OT, way to get the puck out boys! Difference between them and Martie is the that they were safe to make the plays they did.

On a lighter note, I had to laugh when the TSN panel pointed out the fuzzy white guys cheering for the Coyotes - and agree with them that they more resembled Yetis than any coyote I've ever seen. LOL!

Penguins will be back to tie the series with the Flyers tomorrow.

ROCK ON PENGUINS............ALL THE WAY, GUYS!

The difference between them are almost nothing, except one is a rediculous 25 games and the other probably no games. The league is a joke.

that claude gireaux, what a player, what a dynamic leader, I totally agree with what bob McKenzie just
said, the seamstress in behind the scenes should be ironing up that C right now, as he will be the next
captain for the flyers.

i'm not a big fan of either of these teams, and the defense on both teams is full of holes, and the
goalies are full of surprises, but if canucks are going 'down' in their series, then I want all of
the other high placed teams to go down too. lol lol

GO OTTAWA (east only of course) lol

Your wish came true as far as the Penguins, talloola.......they were outplayed most of the game and the Flyers most certainly deserve this win. Ah well,........maybe next year.

Congratulations to the Flyers on winning Round One.

He was outstanding, talloola and most certainly deserves the 'C' on his jersey. What a player!

I just watched half of the first period, then did yard work, came in and it was over, was it a good
game?

The difference between them are almost nothing, except one is a rediculous 25 games and the other probably no games. The league is a joke.

almost is the key word. neil was almost 'turned around' when he made the hit, it was his shoulder and part of his back that contacted neil, not
directed to the head, although the head was contacted during the hit, I mean, hockey is full of hits, that is part of the game, but
they have to be legal, and of course most hits are very similar, how different can one get when two bodies
are crashing into each other, but the major differences, and going outside of the legal area of a hit, can
cause major injury.

The hit that daniel made on keith before keith hit him was a legal hit, although his shoulder did slide
up and contact part of keith's head.

shanahan explained that hit, as there was so much flack from chicago, AND shanahan said, that when the hit
contacts the head 'after the fact', it is coincidental contact, (hence keith was not even phased by the hit),
they cannot totally eliminate contact with the head, unless they completely take out body checking all together, so there is a grey area, can't be helped.

I don't know why you are so flabberghasted by the 25 game suspension, maybe you need to go into
NHL.com and read torre's rap sheet, then you will understand, as he can't continue treating his
fellow players with such disrespect, he has to learn, just like cooke learned, (at least so far.)

Just came home from lunch out, read the province while having lunch, and I can't understand 'why' others
can't figure out this 25 game suspension.

Why is it that many can't figure out that the 25 games is NOT just for the recent dumb move by torres.
The recent suspension has its own suspension, and number of games, AND all of the past suspensions have
been taken into account.

If a player who had 'NO' prior suspensions and had the recent penalty that torres just did, he would 'NOT' receive 25 games, why is that so hard for so many to grasp.

It isn't rocket science.
