Who really gives a flying phuque about Sidney Crosby?

Thats the way I feel about the Canucks. On the other hand, Sid is the best player in the world, he's coming back from a serious injury
and hockey fans the world over are curious if he will be the talent he was or a shadow. Today my heart is sick from another lack-luster performance by my Isles but I am in awe of how Crosby was able to turn it on last night.

Quite a few people, other players, fans, etc. You certainly don't have to care about him, that's your choice. He's not only very, very talented, but he's respectful and personable. Compare, for example, his reaction at the draft, with Eric Lindros' reaction at the draft.

He's a far better image for the league than Sean Avery or Todd Bertuzzi, but I suppose each person has an idea of what they want in a hockey player.

You will always find naysayers about great people, somehow it seems to alleviate our own feelings of inadequacy.

I really felt for Anders Nilsson - first game out and he has to face Sid - not that the Islanders didn't make it easy for the Kid, he skated through them like a hot knife through butter.

Who really gives a flying phuque about Sidney Crosby?

Who cares about Sid, Kreskin? Well let's see now - how about every team that will now sell more tickets to their games when Sid comes to town. How about millions of fans around the world who truly appreciate a player of Sid's caliber. Or, how about Canadians who can take pride in a young man who not only excels at his sport but is a great example for all of Canada's youth - hockey players or not.

The value of Sidney Crosby to the NHL is indisputable but it goes beyond that - Sid is simply a young man who epitomizes all that can be great about the game of hockey.

If he were a big-mouthed blow-hard full of trash talk like so many hockey players I would not care so much - but Sid is none of that and that alone makes him kind of special in my books.

I'm putting this out here right now. If the Canucks go to the playoffs again they can go pound salt.

I am not watching.

I'm sure the TV ratings will take note, RCS. LOL!

“The goals and assists were great but just being back out there, I can't really describe it,” he said. “The main thing was just the joy of playing. It felt like I was waiting forever.” Sidney Crosby in post-game interview.

He has the typical character and personality of most NHL ers, love their interviews, very modist people,
and always aware of who helped them get to where they are, and always aware of how hard one must work
to stay at the top of their game.

Crosby's interviews display the very heart of an NHL er.

The media is always whining because the players don't give them any 'interesting' things to chat about,
but what they are really saying, controversy. The players aren't stupid, they are very aware of what
the media is digging for.

I find the players very refreshing and very canadian, and I want them to always be that way.

If Crosby scores at the pace he was going at last year, it's entirely possible.

yep, last year he was in the process of blowing the field away, then he went down.
i'm sure the sedins are very aware that he was going to win hands down, but good on them to
also do so well, they are very respectful and intelligent, and would step back and cheer him
on.
Canuck fans should feel so blessed to have those guys to watch right now, but it won't be long
till they come to the end of their careers, hopefully at least another 5 years.

Absolutely untrue, which is what makes him a standout. He's polite, interested in developing his game, and respectful of the game, as well as eloquent.

He is nothing like 'most NHLers', which is why he is so valuable.

Probably before Xmas!

I think MOST N.H.L.ers are pretty sincere. I was thinking of starting a thread to stir up a little sh*t. Stay posted.

hmmm, you must be listening to different players than I do, and of course there is the
exception, that is why I said 'most'. They have always been very modest and
polite in interviews, or I wouldn't be interested in them at all.

the biggest reason why he is so valuable, is his 'talent', if he didn't have
that, he would blend in with the majority.

so, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Sidney got another point in the Pen's game against the Habs last night and managed to keep his stick down for the most part and his elbows to himself as the Pens took the game 4 to 3 in OT.

Carey Price ended the night with 38 saves after making some game-changing stops though two goals were waved off on technicalities. At the other end of the rink, Marc-Andre was kept busy with several great opportunities for the Habs.

Evgeni Malkin had a goal and assist on the night. Pascal Dupuis got his 6th goal on the season with assists from Matt Cooke and Paul Martin. Jordan Stall got his 12th of the season, but it was the Kris Letang goal that infuriated Habs fans and gave the Pens an OT win. Letang got his goal and 26th point after suffering a broken nose off a shoulder hit by Max Pacioretty - which earned the latter a chat with Brendon Shanon - Letang's goal is in dispute as Carey had gloved the puck, but the play was not whistled dead, Kris dug deep, came up with the puck and slipped it past Carey.

Travis Moen, Max Pacioretty, and Eric Cole were goal scorers for the Habs.

Other scores from last night were:

4 to 2: Bruins over the Jets
5 to 2: Colorado over the Oilers

that elbow by crosby was significant in the little scrum he was part of.

and i'm glad shanahan is going to speak with pacioretty about his hit, it was head shot, in spite
of what millbury was droning on about, I was on mcLeans side on that one.

I certainly thought so, talloola and it seems that all the talking heads are in agreement with us as they are almost divided over it. Half seem to think that Sid should be the last one to start something like this and the other half seem to believe that it is part of the game and something Sid should do in protecting his goalie.

I think he should just stick to playing top notch hockey and leave the rough stuff to his side-kicks.

Totally with you on that, talloola and was surprised to read that Shanahan is just having a tele-conference with Max. Also thought they should have given Letang a bit more of the concussion tests than they did - that hit had to have rocked his brain.
