now were going to hear for the next 6 months 'how' crosby is doing after getting back, i'm so so tired of it all.

Blame that on the darn media, talloola - they are insatiable - I don't hear about Sid seeking them out. I agree that all the hype will keep up and every single move he makes will be dissected and discussed ad infinitum.

As I mentioned to TP, I am glad for Sid's sake that he is back and no matter what comes, I know he will finally be playing the game he loves to the best of his ability.

This is from an interview with Dejan Kovacevic.

"I've thought a lot about that first game, tried to imagine what it will be like," Crosby said Nov. 1 at Southpointe. "And whenever I picture it in my mind, it's not just one situation. It's probably 10 or 15 that I've visualized ... just about everything. Going to the bench with the guys. Hearing all the chatter. Having your hometown crowd behind you. Maybe, if it's a close game, feeling that intensity again. All of that. Every bit of it. It's going to be a lot of fun."

“I’m going to be the player I’ve always been, “ Crosby said that day. “That’s why it’s important that I’m 100 percent when I do come back. I’m going to get hit again. That’s part of how I play. And hopefully, I’m going to give hits more than I take.”

Right, it's fun.

So let's enjoy it."

I don't get any specialty hockey packages so I rarely get to see the Penguins play thus I have missed much of what Sidney has accomplished on the ice before his concussion. This afternoon TSN showed something like 30 of his goals from last season then they featured his top ten.

I was becoming pretty fed up with the media's constant attention to Sid and really didn't get it. Well............I get it now. No wonder the media loves Sid - he is a one man hockey team - some of the goals he has scored - the way they were scored - the determination it took to stay with the puck - the never give up attitude and the ability to score flat on his back or to set up a goal with a shot from behind the net, back turned and through his legs ...........................oh yeah, I get it now.

Welcome back Sidney Crosby - you rock kid! Have some fun out there. :canada:

..........................................................................................................................................

Penguins 1 - Islanders 0 - early in 1rst period.

Welcome back Sid.

I try not to think about it, it's just too sickening but in this day and age it wouldn't be impossible that some bastard will try to deliberately goon him.

It could happen but I think it would be a 'lone ranger' type who did it. I betcha there isn't a coach in the NHL now who hasn't had a talk with their team about what they will or will not do when they play the Penguins. Sid is a commodity, much as I hate that term, his value is not just to the Penguins but to the league. No matter where he plays with the Pens, his name draws crowds and that's money in the bank for the teams and the league. So yes it may happen, but I most sincerely pray that it does not.

BTW, Sid just got an assist too. 2 points on the night.

P.S. I am so angry with Shaw TV - there are no games shown on my menu tonight so I was looking for something to watch and settled on Jeopardy - love testing my brain. I switched channels and next thing I know I am listening to hockey, I turned around and there was the Islander vs Pittsburgh - live - on my TV - and I didn't even know I could get the game. Joined the game too late to see Sid's first goal back but was able to watch the assist. I have to have a word with Shaw before I blow a gasket.

I would have more expected that behavior way back when, not in this day and age of hockey.

Not too far way back when........................McSorley, forget his name but the big Canuck goon who finished off Moore for Colorado.

I hope he does well, but I think it will take him a year to get back into playing mode.

Uh...huh.

So much for our thoughts on how Sid would do, eh TP. I guess he had other ideas in his 'head'. My only regret is that he didn't have a better team to play. The Islanders stunk - they barely got it together for all the PP opportunities the Pens gave them - heck the Pens spent more time in the Islander's zone during PPs then they did half the time.

2 goals 2 assists and a pile of other stats including a 67% face-off win on the night. Not bad, not too bad at all.

ROCK ON SIDNEY CROSBY!

I'm watching a post-game interview with Sid on CBC right now, talloola. I found out during the game that CBC decided to broadcast the game as a special presentation in honor, I guess - or more to the points ratings - of Sid's comeback. That is why it didn't appear on my Shaw menu. Just glad I was able to catch most of the game.

Any comments on the game?

Who really gives a flying phuque about Sidney Crosby?

People who are interested in successful young hockey players...................better than that Dennis whats his face the basketball player, who has the I.Q. of a turtle!

I'm putting this out here right now. If the Canucks go to the playoffs again they can go pound salt.

I am not watching.

The point being.................................

yes, but you are referring to someone purposely targeting crosby, specifically because he just returned
from a serious injury, a different mind set I think.

bertuzzi was getting revenge and mcSorely lost his mind temporarily during a game and swung his stick
at a player, not a specific target for a specific reason, and I sure don't approve of either situation,
but don't at all find them similar to someone targeting crosby right now.

it would take a very sickheaded player to target him because it is 'him' just returning after almost a
year, I have never known anyone to do such a thing, but maybe years ago with many poor players in the
game, hired only for mean spirited activity, perhaps it could have happened, but I don't remember anything
that would resemble such a move.
and, a player first must think of his own career, and doing such a thing would put himself out of the
game, probably for the rest of his career.
