A Mouse Once Bit My Sister
I'm saying that I don't know what the standards are in each province.

What I do know is that Alberta allows "Charter Schools" and according to the provincial government, "A charter school is a public school that provides a basic education in a different or enhanced way to improve student learning". There is no requirement for Catholic schools to do this. I know because my kids go to a Catholic school.

I see your point, however, in the realm of "equality", the Charter Schools in Alberta are exercising their rights and achieving full equality within the system... The very same can be said of the separate system, so where this angst exists in terms of Catholic schools being at some form of advantage (in terms of equality) is beyond me.

With this in mind, the only thing stopping any other interest group in developing their own unique schools is the sheer will power to do so.

Of course muslims face a negative perception in Canada. They segrgate themselves, for the most part and haven't made any effort to understand, respect or fit into the society they came here to live within. It's not Canada's fault either, it's their own fault. Go to a Muslim country and see how they treat you. They have it easy, most of them shouldn't be here.
This is embarrassingly stupid. Most of Muslims shouldn't be here? You realize Muslims are followers of Islam, they aren't a race? You're too dumb to realize you're condemning an entire religious group even though your intention is to condemn a racial group instead.
You racist clowns never fail to amuse me.
Don't tell people to go to a Muslim country and "see how they treat you" when you've never stepped foot outside of your own city. Now I haven't been to a Muslim country but I wouldn't hesitate for a second to bet we would be treated better than Muslims are treated here.

Well, you'd be wrong, I have family and friends that currently and in the past have worked in the middle East and you aren't treated well. In fact, in most middle eastern countries you need to be in gaited communities because it's so unsafe for westerners.

My intention wasn't to condemn a race either. You just made that up and then tried to tie me to it and suggest I'm a racist. Don't be ridiculous. I never made any comment about whether they were a race. When I said most of them shouldn't be here, that was a comment about most muslims in this country are recent immigrants. I have nothing against people coming here but they should come here to be Canadians and live within our society, not come here and force their crap on us. I have no problem with following your own beliefs and doing what you wnat in life, but just don't cry when the rest of us don't appreciate you speaking to each other in a different language in front of us and snear at us every chance you get. If you hate the western world so much, as most islamic immigrants do, then f off.

So you would support the full-scale immigration of Nazis.

Islam is not a race.......it is a theology and a political philosophy.

Obviously you have never been in a Muslim country.....where Jews are persecuted and driven out, if not murdered, Chritians are not allowed to build churches, or to preach, and are regularly murdered, or their female children kidnapped, forced to convert and married off to Muslims.

Ever hear of the Copts????? Or Pakistan???

Speaking of clowns, were I you, I'd dump the stupid nose, the multicoloured hair, and the size 36 EEEEEE shoes before I opened my mouth.........there is no fix for stupid.

You're wrong. Most Islamic immigrants don't hate the western world, otherwise they wouldn't bother to come here. As for your "dangerous for westerners" bull****, it depends on what region you're talking about. Many countries it's relatively safe and no more dangerous than a Muslim living in bum**** Alabama.

Well, I should clarify, because I do kind of lump in thoughts sometimes. So, muslims don't hate westerners. Okay, fair point. but really, when most of them only associate within their own culture it makes it hard for the rest of us to accept them as Canadians when every indication we see is that they don't want to be. It's their segregation that causes the problems. And that's on them. They should have done a better job of assimilating their people and should still do a better job of it. It should actually be required.

And outside of a couple of muslim countries, literally 2, jordan and UAE, you are treated like absoulte crap in the middle east if you're white. and even in the 2 I mentioned the treatment is still worse than how we treat them. it's still ony moderately safe to live there.

Of course it depends on which country...........you are relatively safe in Turkey, less so in Indonesia, Egypt is becoming a problem, and you are treated not-so-well at all in the theocracies.......Iran, Saudi Arabia...........

Edmonton imam reportedly beaten, jailed at hajj - Canada - CBC News

And HE is a Muslim.

Muslims come here for economic opportunity, and welcome to them, as long as they are fully willing to accept the fundamental aspects of western culture and political freedom. That means everyone gets to say what they please, all religions are subject to ridicule, you get one wife, and she doesn't walk around in a personal tent.

No, Muslims aren't Nazis, drop that line of bull**** if you want to be treated like a sane person with a full-functioning brain. Islam is a religion.

What segregation? Where is the indication they don't want to be Canadians? They pay taxes, come to our schools, work hard and help out economy grow.
That's absolute bull**** that only two Muslim countries are moderately safe to live in "if you're white". There are obviously several more countries that must have slipped your mind.

I don't know how current this Wiki-info is....but I've got a Buddy who spent the
last couple years in Yemen (as the head Feild Exec for the company he worked
for, for Yemen & four other surrounding countries). He got his arse out'a there
'bout six months back as it was going to Hell in a handbasket, in a very fast way.

He didn't travel without a local guide/bodyguard (that's the rules) for the last
several years....and that wasn't enough to keep him there once things really
went downhill 1/2 a year back.

As I have said, the advantage is in law. Our law gives an advantage to one group. That is the issue I have. Whether any particular party does or doesn't make the most out of this advantage is not the point. The advantage should not exist.

Here is the evangelical Christian Church in Timor

Did you check out other Muslim countries? Or is 1 enough in your view - Please note that in Indonesia the majority adhere to a moderate Islam.

Could you say the same about Saudi, Iran - North Sudan?????

THUNK!

Once again, the sound of the Apologists burying their heads in the sand! LOL

My best friend spent 7 years in Saudi Arabia. All foreign workers of other than Muslim origin are (nudge wink) identified as "Christian' (people of the book) as that makes them only second-class citizens. Were they IDed correctly as Hindu etc, the Koran commands they be ordered to convert to Islam....or be murdered.

Oh, read the post below, if you can with your head buried..... lol

Far from being an apologist for muslims, I think pretty much all religion leaves much to be desired. I just get a kick out of the uneducated making fools of themselves. Please, carry on.

Well, lets get soemthing straight here - First I asked - reason - your info is slanted - So I suggested other countries -

So here goes. Indonesia - Your example I believe.

http://www.hrw.org/news/2011/09/16/indonesia-s-religious-violence-reluctance-reporters-tell-story

http://www.voanews.com/english/news...efuse-Muslim-Christian-Clashes-129723373.html

Hundreds of police have brought calm to Indonesia’s eastern Maluku province following Sunday's violent Muslim-Christian clashes that left three dead and more than 80 injured. The incident, apparently sparked by a simple traffic accident, called attention to a region still recovering from years of sectarian conflict.

More than 400 police have helped quell riots that broke out Sunday on the eastern island of Maluku, following the death of a Muslim motorcycle taxi driver.

Police say the man died in a traffic accident, but rumors sent via mobile phone message claimed he was tortured and killed by a group of Christians.

Police say death toll rises to 7 in Indonesia's Ambon riots

JAKARTA, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A senior official at the national police headquarters said on Tuesday that the death toll from the recent sectarian riots in Maluku province's capital city of Ambon has increased to seven, local media reported here..

"The data as of 7 a.m. shows that the number of dead has risen from three to seven people," National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam was quoted by the Kompas.com as saying. The victims died from gunshot wounds or from being pummeled with stones.

Muslim-Christian violence in Indonesia - Topix

Muslim-Christian Violence in Indonesia
Father Ricardo walked gingerly across the charred remains of a church that recently was torched by a band of Muslim fanatics. In a macabre scene, burned pews, crushed stained glass windows, tattered vestments, a communion chalice and a few torn pages from a hymnal dotted the floor.

"It's a nightmare. My Lord, when is it going to stop? Where is this all going to lead?" he said softly again and again, in great despair.

Indeed, post-dictatorship Indonesia's stab at democracy -- after having been ruled by either a left-wing or right-wing strongman for decades --is in great peril, with Christian-Muslim violence continually festering here in the capital of Jakarta.
