I have no idea. Isn't his money in a foundation? Why wouldn't charities have not taken huge hits on investments too?

Does education not involve hard work and merit?
If earning a D average can get you to the seat of President simply because you paid more for an education is the earmark for success then we've got some serious problems in this world.

What makes them special is that someone is willing to pay those prices. No different than why someone is will to pay $300 - $400 for a pair of jeans or $1,000 for a bottle of scotch.

I know I wouldn't. I don't have that kind of money.

He also rents in Washington Heights on Manhatten. Not bad... no job... going to school. The average rental for a Washington Heights one bedroom apartment is $1,350 a month.

Now where would Edward T. Hall III get $1,350 a month?

His 1%er parents that's where.

Combine rent with utilities, food, discretionary spending, tuition, fees and travel back home to mommy and daddy's comfy pad and you're looking at around $75k per year. Factor in that the money spent by the parents is after-tax, and that means that the parents had to earn somewhere in the neighbourhood of $135k - $140k annually to fund this little venture.

I would hope that charity's investments are in in the people they are supposed to be supporting. If people are making donations only to be lost in the stock market... that's BS.

Guys guys guys..

The kid is clearly a CIA operative planted in Wall street as a distraction. He's getting paid handsomely by the CIA to make the protestors look like hypocrites in an effort to counteract Obama's upcoming tax hike on the rich.

Spending more on education makes you superior and gives you a right to better pay? What happened to your Capitialism being all based on hard work and merit?

For some jobs............I'd like to think my brain surgeon had some schooling and did well at it.

Don't fool yourself EagleSmack, there are a number of groups that have very large sums in the market and in hard currency.. The Cancer Foundation comes to mind, tehy have easily 10's (if not in the hundreds) of billions. They are a business, and not in the business of curing cancer.

Not all charities are like that, but the big ones like GreenPeace, WWF, Cancer Foundation, etc. are hardcore business'

Dalhousie Facility of Medicine is costing me SWFA in comparison and my kid will come out a Dr. without the attitude she is owed something and deserves more.

He also likes to play "Squash".

Really?

Arrested for what?

Well he didn't have an I.D so he tried to sneak on the plane through the baggage compartment.

Umm, that's around $6000 a month (for 12 months) . I should think a person can find room and board for $1200 a month and $300 a month should cover incidentals like shoe laces and tooth paste. Could a bus ticket to visit Mummy and Daddy three times cost more than $200 each time. I believe college students get about 4 months off a year, so he could work and earn about $6000 or more. I have no idea what his tuition and book and lab fees etc. would cost, but if he's a bright boy he could apply for scholarships to defray those costs. One of the biggest problems nowadays is people have a hard time finding a way to cut costs. In the days when the bills were getting ahead of us we ate pork and beans for a month.

POLL: Almost 1/3rd of ‘Occupiers’ Say Violence Is OK

The protesters have a distinct ideology and are bound by a deep commitment to radical left-wing policies. On Oct. 10 and 11, Arielle Alter Confino, a senior researcher at my polling firm, interviewed nearly 200 protesters in New York's Zuccotti Park. Our findings probably represent the first systematic random sample of Occupy Wall Street opinion.

Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn't represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.
