Legalize and distribute hemp - it's the patriotic thing to do!

............and solve the money issues at the same time. ;-). Time to deal with this in the most practical and reasonable way.;-)

Yep, I definitely see some merit to the idea, but it's hard to know what all the ramifications would be. One that isn't good is that people who abstain solely because it is illegal might start getting hooked on drugs once it was legalized. I think a smart approach would be to give it a five year test run in selected jurisdictions and see how that pans out before turning it wide open.

Then you'd have people who are into drugs moving to those jurisdictions. Possibly from one end of the country to the other. I think it may lose its appeal. The forbidden fruit factor is pretty powerful. When I was underage I drank a lot more than I did when I became legal. It lost a big chunk of its appeal when I was suddenly able to get it without a hassle and not have to hide.

Even with drugs, its legalization wouldnt have an affect on what I use. I do it maybe 2-3 times a year. If it was legal I imagine it'd stay the same, assuming I keep up.

That might even have a silver lining. Fewer customers for the pushers in the former jurisdiction. I can see your point, years ago I was drunk 4 days a week, now I get drunk about once every 2 years.

So true - it would reduce the prison population, raise tax revenues, reduce illness and loss of man hours, increase the number of farm jobs, and increase productivity. Everybody wins with cannabis.
