There is an old saying that if a man was once bitten by a snake, he will be wary of lizards.

As one who was robbed, beaten to near death and left for dead by Natives/Indians or whatever the hell they prefer to be called, pardon me if I am a bit slow about forgiving and caring about being politically correct.

But at least I try, knowing the storm that would be coming from the true racist bigots, if I did not. Mind you, the storm IS coming, nevertheless. Hate knows no bounds.

I see the uninformed are at it again...

Let me know when you get some facts straight dump, I'd be glad to have an intelligent conversation with you, once you educate yourself.

I gave up trying to educate you, long ago.

I've lived in Vancouver right down in the anus. I've had everbody froom every race on the planet try to and a couple successfully roll me but in the "worst neighbourhood in Canada", I can stroll to the store or bank and back everyday without a care in the world.

Do you want to know why?

Because I'm not afraid and I've watched the people that do that stuff grow up from kids and they know who I am.

Macleans may call it it the worst neighbourhood in Canada but they totally neglected the community aspect.

Yes it is a crazy city. All cities are crazy. My street runs from north to south of nearly the entire city but in just a 1km strip where I live I can find 6 shootings or killings on just my street within the past 4 years.

There are curently 40+ social agencies in a 1km sq area.

Being a gang banger pays just and much as banging nails all day but the unity you have at work with workmates is 24/7 for them and they have girls and dope too.

OK, petros, picture this: I came to Canada as a penniless boy of barely eighteen years of age. I expressed no views or opinions, so there was no way to perceive me as racist, or enemy, or even rich, worth of being robbed. But I WAS robbed while waiting for the train at the rail road station in Geraldton, Ont. When those bastards found my pocket nearly empty, they took their sick pleasure of beating me until I had not had the will or the ability to move another muscle. Not any amount of your courage could have saved me.

So, pardon me if I am somewhat less than charitable about "Natives" or "First Nations". In addition to the bruises, they also gave the whites/Europeans the curse of nicotine, which more than makes up for any and all harm the white race has ever done to the Indians.

And if it were whites you would have forgave and forgotten?

It doesn't cost anything to learn some basics to defend yourself. Even if it is a knife gun or more than one.

You're still young enough to learn and apply them as well.

Spare me, I've been on the receiving end of racism my entire life. From whites, blacks, other natives. I don't judge all of them by those myopic standards.

Only people with myopic minds do.

We traded with it like a currency, we smoked it marginally in ceremony and ritual.

It took the Europeans to f!ck that up.

So again, spare me the silly myopic rhetoric.

Don't tell me, petros. Tell it to dumpthemonarchy.

Funny, I heard an Indian chief say on TV, "Treaties don't make Indians, Indians makes treaties." To worry about a word or two often misses the point. Keep it in mind, but move on. This chief doesn't seem hung up on the issue. Words have more than one meaning.

When Columbus landed, a white man saw dark/browned skinned people and called them what he knew, these were people had to be from India. The unattached continent that would soon be called America was just not known to Europeans, Asians, or Africans at the time in 1492.

Actually, it was known to Europeans long before Columbus. The Irish were here before the Norse. Some Europeans may have been here as far back as 10 thousand years. Columbus was an ignorant psychopath who slaughtered an entire people and their magnificent civilization. The Spanish were probably the most uncivilized bunch of barbarians to come out of Europe.

The only accepted evidence of travelers to pre-Columbian America were the Norse at L'Anse Aux Meadows in Newfoundland, that's it. Everything else is folk history and entertaining stories, not the real thing, not real history. The Norse were not explorers. To explore means to record for history and others to come behind and expand on the knowledge the explorer has gathered.

Very English, Spain, the ancient enemy of England, not Canada. Ever notice that we have immigrant communities called Little Italy, Little Greece, and Little Portugal, but no Little Spain. Another reason to shed the crown and get an independent view of the world, from a Canadian perspective.

That is not what the latest archaeological evidence says. And European DNA is established in Easter indigenous populations that can point to many thousands of years ago. Kenniwick man, found in Oregon, is Caucasian and dated at 9 thousand years. He is thought to come from Japan or India but according to local indigenous oral tradition he was European. Polynesian and/or Aborigines from Australia were here over 13 thousand years ago. Look it up at the Smithsonian and National Geographic sites. Archaeology has made quantum strides in the past ten years.

A few visitors come and then they go, they leave no imprint, no change in the landscape. Sorry, no good. Oh the statues look African, but that is not enough, a sprikling of DNA here and there, is not enough. Continuity is the key and there is nothing significant before Columbus. The Norse came, that's a fact, but created a dead end, there trip was lost and forgotten as nothing was built on it.

If the Chinese hadn't been so closed minded, they could have settled America long before Europeans, but they didn't. Europe leapt at the opportunity after Columbus, and the West hasn't looked back since.

They just happen to look like Africans? I suppose the Mayans were bull****ting when they wrote about Quetzalcoatl a white man with a white beard in a robe too?

All Columbus did was gave an old legned a shot that if you sail toward Venus in the evening you'll come to a new place of great wealth. and sail toward Venus in the morning to get home.

CDNBear, I am now old enough to have the ability and willingness NOT to judge. But I still remember.

As far as tobacco is concerned, I quit the habit cold turkey, after 30 years, because I could.

That's pretty much how I sum up your view of First nations. You are a shining example of how sensationalism in MSM, actually affects peoples information intake.

You mean you still hold a grudge.

Some people remember and hold a grudge for what happened to their ancestors 100 or more years ago.
And they demand special considerations, money and jobs they never earned, based on on ancient history.

Pardon me, if I remember and hold a grudge for what happened to me, personally, far more recently, while never demanding anything I never earned based on the the colour of my skin.

And for those politically correct, the sound of an accent can be, and often was just as discriminating as skin colour.

And my point about quitting smoking was that I had the strength of character to do so.

So, in other words, you don`t feel that Canada should live p to or uphold their contractual/legal obligations when it comes to First Nations Treaties.

Pardon me, if I remember and hold a grudge for what happened to me, personally, far more recently, while never demanding anything I never earned based on the the colour of my skin.

BS, you are whining and crying/demanding that Canada throw out or legal and contractal obligations to First Nations people because YOU never agreed to the terms of the agreements. A self admitted white european immigrant to a land that First Nations people, for the most part, never agreed to relinquish. It is well past time for them to be paid for what has been stolen.

And for those politically correct, the sound of an accent can be, and often was just as discriminating as skin colour.

and is also used to whine about how mistreated they are.

And my point about quitting smoking was that I had the strength of character to do so.
