The province of New Brunswick has promised to cover all health care costs, and the federal minister has promised to rescind the order to throw them out.
I was reading about this at lunch today and I'm glad to hear it as well.

It's one thing to make what might be excessive healthcare costs a consideration when reviewing an application for a permit or residency but entirely another thing to wait 8 years, let people build a life, become part of a community and actually give back to that community and then decide it's too much of a burden. Some decisions should never be made retroactively.

Province..................HAS PROMISED.

Feds........................HAVE PROMISED.

No one in politics ever breaks a promise.

Pragmatically, it's probably cheaper to do the health care cost than the endless years of appeals vs. deportation.

By Jeez, the govts. DO really have the interests of the unwashed at heart.

Wanna buy some nice swampland??

I Understand this repreave is temporary. It is only until they have their immigration hearing???

These are difficult decisions for the Feds, how do they keep these people here yet at the same time make sure you don't set a precedence for future cases???

There are more questions than answers in this story. Like why were they a;;owed into the country in the first place with a known condition like that? Why after 8 years have they not become citizens unless they were not planning to stay? Why did the government wait 8 years to evict them?

My understanding is that they've been given 3 years to get their permanent residency / citizenship.

Well if they get three yrs to sort things out, they should be able to work out solutions that works for all parties. Anyways, I wish them good luck!!
