There not drawing in like they used to, FOX no matter what people say seems to be doing fairly well. Yup, those lefty socialists.

Yes, FOX is doing well, not sure what that proves though.

A lot of people watch American Idol and care which ditch Lindsey Lohan passed out in.

Seems the public isn't interested in intelligence anymore.

Sorry, I don't buy it.

Nothing more than Lib fear mongering.
Then why does Harper keep his ministers gagged?

Why do they consistently refuse to answer calls from the press?

How come during the last election, it was always the Conservative candidates who refused to show up to candidates debates?

Either Harper knows that his party's platform would anger most people, *or* he figures his ministers are a collection of buffoons who wouldn't be able to talk to the press or do a candidates debate without making the party look stupid.

So which is it?

To be truthful, I watch BBC if I want some topic sorted out.

Hmm... yeah... I listen to CBC for in-country stuff, but for international, I tend to BBC.
I find NBC and CBS on the extreme left here,
That's what I don't get. We have cable up here, and the carriers deliver NBC and CBS, and I'll find myself watching it periodically, and I just don't see what you're talking about when you say "extreme left".

Extreme left how?!? To me it just looks like basically straightforward reporting, with a strong bias to seeing everything from an American point of view - which is what CBC and CTV do... they deliver everything from a "Canadian perspective" (and they're proud to advertise that fact) - but otherwise, when I watch NBC or CBS, it just seems like reporting, so what's so extreme-left about it?

Harper like Cretien wants to control his party form the PMO.

It's very simple and effective.

No boogey man, just politics.

I like Harper.

*Just* politics? JUST?!? Since when did it become the norm for a PM to run a party that won't tell the people he's governing what his party's platform and long-term vision for the nation are?

You'd vote for that?!? Why? Because ignorance is bliss?

I like Harper.
No doubt, but seriously... do have no desire at all to know where he and his party would take things if they ever got a majority?

Do you not think that Joe Clark and Belinda Stronach - both stanch conservatives by any ordinary definition of the term - refusing to have anything to do with Harper/Day's vision for the country speaks volumes?

Man, are you ever paranoid.

What would Iggy do?

I have no idea and I don't recall any moment where Harper ran away from reporters.

It's in your head.

Then you don't listen to news radio, because all it is, day after day, is them saying that they called the PM or a minister's office, and that no call was returned.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think you know about Harper's party's platform?

As much as I do Iggy's, Laytons and Maes.

Nothing.

So if the average dumb Canadian doesn't notice he/she is voting for a fascist, I'm supposed to do what...?

Well I feel for you.
One thing you can do is go out and tell the average dumb Canadian who is the fascist and the risks associated with voting in a fascist. We are all entitled to an opinion and we are free to inform others how we see things.
There are many ways to inform people nowadays, with the Internet and all !!

But in the end, we live in a democracy and the one with the most votes gets to rule and manage the country.
I know it's not a perfect system, but it's a long way ahead of whatever comes second.

Calling any Canadian leader a fascist shows how little people know about actual fascism. Harper is no fascist, not by any stretch of the imagination, he's no worse than Chretien ever was. Personally I'm glad we have someone in control with a firm hand on the rudder steering us in the right direction.

As far as knowing about party platforms, I can find the Conservative and Liberal constitutions but not the NDP, all I can find is the one from their 'socialist caucus' NDP Socialist Caucus which is pretty scary to say the least.

As for Avaaz, they again interfered in a Canadian election attempting to affect the outcome of a democratic process, now that is the scary part.

This commercial came to mind after reading some of their resolutions..

Wow, that Socialist Caucus is really scary all right. Where was our illustrious media, protectors of our freedoms, during the election campaine??

I really didn't hear too much about Avvaaz during this election campaign, maybe they were more active in different parts of the country.

Ever watch Rez Blues? Great show!

I know the series you are talking about, Bear, but no, I haven't watched it yet. I really like the docs that APTN runs and am actually watching one now called ' We Shall Remain.' My interest lies mainly, but not exclusively, in learning the history of natives in America. Kevin Kostner also had a history series that APTN ran whose name escapes me at the moment.

I first started watching APTN a few years ago when I happened upon a listing on my guide for the Aboriginal Achievement Awards. At that time, APTN was the only channel to carry the awards but I see that it now goes national and can be seen by a wider audience. I told many of my friends about the awards after I had watched them that first night as I wanted them to know that what we see in the MSM was only a small portion of the true story of natives in Canada.

Unfortunately, there are people today who cling to their misguided beliefs that all natives are lazy and stupid and do not contribute to the fabric of Canada. It gives me great pleasure to be able to refute them with what I have learned about native's accomplishments across our country.

That wouldn't be 500 Nations would it? Excellent series.

We shall remain, was excellent. My favourite episode was "Wounded Knee". My first brush with Native activism, was with a member of AIM.

We watch APTN quite a bit, see faces we recognize, and learn a little about other Nations. Though I temper some of the rhetoric that gets tossed around, when the boys are in the room.

Something I keep trying to get people to understand, myself.

500 Nations - that's it! Thanks, Bear. This episode is about the diaspora of the Cherokee from the Eastern United States - I will have to watch it again as I have been spending too much time here today.

The level of my ignorance about the sophistication of Indian nations long before the white man came to America's shores, was abysmal, Bear. But I am catching up quickly.

If SUNTV is FOX News North, CBC is AlJazzeera West.

I was watching "The Fugitive" on APTN, wondering why this movie was on his channel.

After the movie was over, it was explained that Tommy Lee Jones has some Native blood in his veins.
