Christie Crunch is in the fight of her life politically tonight. There are still at least
three polls to be counted in Point Grey Riding in the by election and she is only
300 hundred vote ahead. That is not a great endorsement for the one who would
be Premier and came into the office with such fanfare.
In a general election she might not make it. Any thoughts on this?

Holy crap!! I can see a big fight over the validity of this result that could be fought for a while.

The vote count was complicated by the fact that Elections BC added 33 ballot boxes to its total count about an hour-and-a-half after polls closed, pushing the total number of boxes to 167. Before 9:30 p.m., the elections body's official results page listed just 134 ballot boxes in the entire riding.

I don't know how 33 ballot boxes got added after the polls closed and she was losing but it somehow gave her a 500 vote victory. Anyone from Eby's side with a brain is going to start questioning this and I'm sure it will be a topic in the legislature right up to the general election.

Final tally just in, Christy Clark wins but barely, she won by 454 votes only in
Gordon Campbell's old riding of Point Grey. The other thing to look at here is
the NDP took 45% of the vote to Clark's 48%.
Think about this for a moment. In a flat out election, remember the Conservatives
will be running, and the vote will split to some degree but if the NDP held at 38%
or more they would win a majority. The last poll gave New Democrats just over
38%, and that was done before the Orange tide as it were Federally.
Things are shaping up for a real scrap in the upcoming Provincial Election.

We won and that is all that matters. Not only that but Christy broke a 30 year loosing streak in by elections. Note that the voter turnout was pretty dismal with only around 15000 votes cast. Couldn't find any exact figures this morning but it seems to me there should be around 60000 voters in a riding.

I hope this fall the dippers hand the Socred/BC Reform/Liberals their asses. All they need is to find a dynamic leader.

Still haven't seen or heard anything on the miraculous appearance of 33 ballot boxes 1.5 hours after the polls closed. I wonder if anyone will take notice or ask for an investigation. All day long the web and TV showed 134 polls then at 9:30 it somehow changed to 167 when it looked like she would lose by a slim margin. Not even elections BC has made an official statement as to the discrepency. I call foul and want to know what the heck happened.

Well she happened to time the election right after UBC closed for the summer. All the students have gone. That is why the voter turnout seems low. A good political move to hold the voting when most of the oppositions voters are not around.

CBC was reporting that she took the by-election by 600 paltry votes. Now that is what I call a squeaker - looks good on her though. It will be a very interesting election and I still don't know who I am going to vote for. Checked out the BC Greens but they are just a bit too far left for me, which of course also eliminates the NDP. I most certainly won't give my vote to Clarke as I think she is a flake. Guess I will check out the Conservative party of BC - haven't looked at them yet.

Christie Crunch? Really? She's only 300 votes ahead?

My thoughts on this? Is she a chocolate bar or a breakfast cereal?
