this election result could be summed up in one word: FAIL

The elections results are very decisive.
It would be different if the results were very close to each other.

Like I said before:
SUCK IT UP !!!

Mulroney was saying, in an interview tonight, that this is the first time since Diefenbaker that the Conservatives have had a majority and two minority governments - way cool! History is being made. :canada:

Can't argue with the old wise man !!

I was shooting more for bull-dyke than gay but that is only because you seem to be quite feminine so casting you as the polar opposite was simply a cheap shot. Take it however you will. Sometimes these thing don't carry the same amount of funny when not face to face.

This is getting ridiculous! 8O

Well maybe it's for the best- will give him a clear 4 year run at things without distractions and then if we are unhappy we can boot him out permanently. There can be good politicians who personally are toads.

I am hoping that Stephen serves for three years, calls a leadership convention and steps down, remaining as a valued adviser to the party but out of politics. He can finish his book on hockey and go back to coaching teams. If he stays longer than that, I would worry about the same thing that happened with Mulroney. The old power corrupts thing. Three years as PM is a fitting reward for all that Mr Harper has done for our party especially as he will have all the power he needs to finally do something about the Senate.

So, in summary, you never would have attempted to use being a lesbian as an insult if it wasn't clear to you that I wasn't one?

I believe the lesson here is that the Liberals must consider their future and mandate.

The Conservatives achieved a majority because the Liberals pushed an unnecessary election upon the Canadian people. The NDP has benefited greatly from this miscalculation and thankfully we are now out of the minority quagmire that has plagued Canada for the last 7(?) years.

Congratulations to the Conservative Party
Congratulations to the official opposition.
and most of all, congratulations to my fellow Canadians.

Democracy has spoken.

I'm sure the 60% who voted against you knew about the jets. The question is did the 40% who voted for you understand what the real cost will be in dollars and reputation.

You betcha we do. We know that five years from now we will be paying for jets that will keep our guys and gals safe in the skies and able to participate as valued members of the UN. We know what they will cost as they are already ordered and thus we will not be facing an even LARGER bill down the road when the current jets start falling out of the sky. We got the message, PN. Why do you think we voted the way we did.

Holy sh*t man, where did you study math. 40% of the popular vote means 60% want someone other than you. Is that too hard for you to understand? Who would be second choice is irrelavant in a FPTP system. An IRV system would allow for that 60% to have a second choice and possibly guarantee an even larger majority with a true mandate of the voters. A PR system would give representation in greater numbers to the 60%. I fail to see how defining what the true will of the people is can be wrong in a democracy.

I'm wondering where you studied..... that 60% you keep throwing out is split between 4 other party's. The cons have 40% all to themselves. They have the majority. They polled more Canadians then any other single party.

There will still be a lot of noise in the House of Commons; we'll still have that yappy Jack and now we'll also have that screeching May whining all the time!!!
Oh my head is starting to hurt just thinking about it !!!

A party that changes their mandate just to win future elections should be disbanded and their funds parceled out to the existing parties.

Well from my vantage point the liberals haven't had much of mandate since Chretien was their leader. Perhaps mandate was a poor choice of words. Vision might be better.

Well congrats to Lizzie, she will finally - legitimately - have a seat at the next Leadership Debate.
