I think that all the parties are in support, or at least will say that they support, religious freedom. Support something and actually being an activist are two very different things however.

Seeing that the Conservatives proposed the establishment of such an office, why would the Libs and NDP know what its functions would be. Clearly if you want to understand the Conservative Platform, you have to ask a Conservative.

Other parties will always try to attack other platforms. Even people within the party can sometimes take different interpretations of a platform, so if you want to know a platform you really have to be the person who made it.

Harper Pledges To Protect Religious Freedom

http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/politics/federalelection/archives/2011/04/20110423-101107.html

Harper’s war room identified the major issues and have started their march for a majority.

They are starting with the religious freedoms to motivate the people to come out and vote for his majority.

Canada has a rich religious history that has helped families get through the hardships of life and the Conservatives are offering this group an olive branch to vote for like minded indeviduals. This policy is written in stone just like the ten commandments were as far as Stephen Harper is concerned.

Are the Conservatives changing their stripes to become the people’s party?

A little more than one week to go and the Conservative war roon lieutenants are putting into motion the ultimate plan a “Shock and Awe” approach to get their leader into majority territory.

A Conservative government majority will finally give them the ultimate power to change this country once and for all and change the Canadian way of life.

The big question, is will the voters take the bait?

What a load of garbage, this from the leader who's brought us the most dictatorial government in our history("I'm bored today, I think I'll prorogue Parliament for the third time"). Now Harper's going to lead us in some new-age Crusade to protect religious freedom?

How about a little freedom here at home.

Religious freedom means religious power means religious abuse. How many pedophiles and thieves do you want to cultivate with constitutional protection for imaginary friends of imaginary friends. Religion should be kept in chains, ask the Pope, he'll tell you how important control is. Any religion that does not recognize the absolute infallibility of the electric universe is bogus. Save your money and time, learn Ohm's law.

I don't think religious freedom results in an over abundance of misery. Sure, there are extremist cults who in the past have committed mass murder or mass suicide, but having a few die is better than killing people just because they believe different than you, such as what happened in the Inquisition.
