That is right JLM, but even on team 1040, they repeat, 'this season will mean nothing if canucsk don't
win the stanley cup', just makes me smile, what a bunch of children, and they have no thought to
how the players think, only how they, 'like little kids' will again be cheated out of a stanley
cup. Well, poor babies.

They are right, you get a small window to win in the current cap set up. If the team keeps choking in the post season will you still give them a pat on the back for winning a meaningless piece of metal.....wait...don't answer that...I already know what it is.

I've been to a game at the Bell Center, and I don't care what you want me to look up, my appreciation
for winning the presidents' cup is for me, I don't care what anything says in the bell center, it
has no affect on what I think.

That's fine.....it's not for me though and the fact that you didn't notice anything different at the Bell explains many things.

Anyways.....good luck.

Explains what!!!!!, drop the sarcasm and just explain yourself.

Yes, the cap situation makes it impossible for teams to build a powerhouse and stay together for a
long time, impossible, unless team gets together and agrees to take lower contracts, for the sake
of playing together, but because players only have 'so long' in the NHL, they must build their
financial future, it is their responsibility to themselves and their families, who, come first.

they certainly aren't peaking at the right time, just the opposite, they are playing poorly right
now, but anything can happen in playoffs, just look at how they got into the playoffs last
year, 'by a thread', then played very well.

Guess calgary is officialy out now, as chicago and anaheim both won their games.

I watched edmonton play calgary tonight, edmonton looked very sluggish, nothing like
the jump they had last night, but back to back games can sometimes do that to teams,
and calgary was playing 'again' for their hockey playoff lives, (which ended tonight).

Yep, the Flickers have flickered out. Probably for the best as they can be pretty pesky.

I'm not basing that on, like, the regular season, it's, like, based on their ability in the playoffs.

When has Vancouve, like, ever won a cup? Even though that is, like, irrelevant to the current teams.

Like, whatever.

Cory Perry is on fire, he now has 50 goals, the only 50 goal scorer in the NHL this season,
AND, he is only 3 pts. behind daniel for the point total, so I would suggest the canucks
ramp it up for the last two games to help him stay on top, but if they don't do that, then
all the more power to perry, he got 4 points last night, and with 2 games to go, if he does
pass daniel, then so be it, he will deserve the win.

Annaheim made san jose look very ordinary last night, haven't seen san jose look
that bad in a long time, but I still see them as the strength of the west right
now, but the way anaheim is playing at present, no one will want them in the first
round.

The line of perry/getzlaf/ryan in my opinion is the best line in hockey, (as I mentioned previous),
and they are on a big role right now, feeling pretty good about themselves.

I see Adam Foote is finally going to retire, what a grand and long career he has had, was part
of the old champion colorado avalanche teams with foresberg and sakic, so good luck to him, it
is now the end of that era in colorado, no one else left from that group.

alex edler will be back in the lineup for canucks tonight, good to have him back, he was their
top defenceman when he left for the surgery, and I'm sure he will get back to that level in no
time.

hamhuis is skating, but not practicing yet, and alberts is almost ready, tanev has been sent back
to manitoba for the time being, so he must be healthy now and ready to go.

torres has a hearing this morning to find out how many games he will sit out, i'm guessing, two.
one never knows what nhl will do when issueing suspensions, as bertuzzi's hit a couple of weeks
ago was very similar to torres hit, and he got no suspension, but did get a 2500.00 fine.

Kesler is playing great, has never slumped in his efforts on the canucks, but he isn't scoring
any more, which takes away from the depth of the team, they are not as deep as before, and are
now a one line team for scoring, with great goalkeeping, so that second line needs to start putting
the puck in the net, so that the opposition defense have two lines to worry about instead of just
one, it will be harder for our top line to perform at their best, without the second line following
up almost as strong, canucks must have two lines scoring.(or 3 or 4)lol

As I stated recently, (before the last two losses), canucks are not the best team going into the
playoffs, and it is up for grabs as always, what team will hoist the cup, canucks have just as
good a chance as others, but must rise to the occasion.

GO CANUCKS GO

Friend of mine is announcing his retirement tommorrow.....great carreer.

Do you know what the Flyers record was last year down the stretch? It wasn't very good.

In the last 12 games they were 4-7-1

Did you know that they lost Carter, Gagne and Laperriere in the first series against NJ and won in 5 games?

Did you know that they came back from a 3-0 deficit against Boston?

Did you know they smacked around Montreal like ragdolls after the Habs good run in defeating Ovie and Sid?

Did you know they made it to the final and gave Chicago a good fight?

Imagine what they could do this year with a healthy Carter and Timonen with the addition of Versteeg, Zherdev and Meszaros.

Also the performance of Bobrovsky has been very good, much more stability in net than last year when they were running out of goaltenders....if you remember?

I'm sure with your superior hockey knowledge you knew all this.

I won't bet against them, that's for sure.

Btw....Wash won the presidents cup last year and were defeated in the first round by the lowly Habs.

All that tells me is what I have been stating previously, that once the playoffs start, (a totally new
short season), anything can happen, and actually that is part of the excitement, it is a crap shoot,
depends who plays who, how the goalkeeping is, and what players rise to the occasion, and in many
stanley cup runs, lesser players, than the stars have risen to become a force to help lead their
team to the cup.

Good luck to all playoff teams

What it tells me is the Flyers are a playoff team.

As you know playoff hockey is quite different than regular season hockey.

Vancouver has yet to show me they are a playoff team.

Maybe this year will be different.....maybe.

San Jose is another one of those regular season teams that fall apart in the playoffs.

It has very little to do with the fact it's the playoffs and a lot to do with the fact of who they face in the playoffs. Did you not pay attention to Vancouver in 1994? I can appreciate all the changes Philly has made in the past year, but you are overlooking one teensy, eensy, weensy little fact...........................the Canucks have also made changes in the past year. Vancouver will likely face Chicago first round, Chicago just barely squeaked by Vancouver last year and since then the Canucks have improved while Chicago has faded. After that it could be Anaheim, Nashville or Phoenix. Nashville could be the most formidable but I think Canucks could take them in 7 games, against Anaheim or Phoenix 6 games.

I don't dwell on the past, for me san jose is due, they are fed up with bowing out in the playoffs, and
this year they changed their style, seem to me to be better prepared.

What happened in the past, is just that, the past, but teams can learn from their past experiences, and
make changes, but whatever they have done before, doesn't mean that they are branded with that
reputation, those reputations are only put there by fans, and media who love to label everyone, but really don't have a clue, they just need a good story or something to talk about, or make predictions, but
none of those things have any bearing on what is actually happening withint each teams dressing rooms
and practices and preparations.

The biggest factor for success is the 'health' of the team, eg. los angeles, who now has lost their
two top scorers, makes it very difficult for them going forward.

What it tells me is the Flyers are a playoff team.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
there will by 16 playoff teams, all with a fresh start going into playoffs, let the past
lay where it belongs.

if philly or any other team make a good showing, good for them, philly has no more of a headstart
than any other team, with exception of teams with big injuries by key players.
________________________________________________________________________________
Raffe Torres was given a 4 game suspension, which puzzles me to no end.

I watched the bertuzzi elbow about 2 weeks ago, very similar to torres, and he got nothing
but a fine.

For once in my life I agree with Dave Pratt on team 1040, when teams go into playoffs they
receive 'no' pay, so for the first two games, lots of money will come out of torres pockets,
for the last two games he sits out, he loses 'nothing', but the rest of the team is punished by
his absence. Makes no sense at all.
Pratt said that he should get two games now and first two games beginning next season, then he
will lose those four days pay, and it won't be playoffs, and canucks will not be punished by his
absence.

Where is the consistency in these decisions, why does bertuzzi get off scott free, (with exception
of fine) and Torres is given 4 games.

So?

The Habs just squeaked in and knocked off the presidents cup winners (Wash), the previous years champs (Pitts) and unlike Chicago didn't win the cup the year before.

True vancouver made changes but what does that mean for the playoffs?

It's an unknown.

I hope they win, I really do....but I have serious doubts that they can.

You can ignore the facts all you want....but there they are.

Fanboys are blind.

The canucks have allready made me proud, and I wish them well in the playoffs, win or lose.

You aren't saying much different than I, you just want controversy, go for it.

you haven't given any facts, just opinion and guesses, and if the situations
happen to go the way you are 'guessing', then you will spout, 'see' told you so.

I've given plenty of facts to back up my point on ability to win in the playoffs.

What is blind...."I love these guys no matter what...blah blah blah blah".

I said I have serious doubts about the Canucks and gave my reasons why....if you don't like it....too bad.

I frickin hate the Flyers.....HATE THEM!

Yet I see them as having a solid chance based on facts....no fan boy wishfull thinking or no better luck next time guys you made me proud.

Very good to see Malhotra tonight-looking fit and wearing a smart suit-waving to the crowd and clapping along-dignified and upbeat both.

His appearance means a lot to everyone.

It's 5-0 for the Canucks now so I'm signing off-big day tomorrow.
