There's nothing to be done about it. He exercised his rights, in an idiotic manner, but within the law nonetheless. Something needs to be done about these fools who will kill their own over the slightest offense.

Remember that we're talking about a pastor taking pride in having outsmarted illiterates in a country in which they are a majority. first the British attacked them, then the Russians, and now us. They've never had the chance to develop a quality education system. To show off how much smarter we are than people who've never had a chance at an education is pretty ignorant in my opinion.

Oh, and I'm not necessarily saying the perpetrators shouldn't be punished, but merely that we should not be so haughty at our oportunities compared to theirs. From that standpoint, we ought to show ourselves more responsible. Set an example.

Yeah but aren't there a bunch of knock offs around that are just a picture of a compass
on the fabric? I heard they we're allowing them into Mosque in some places.

.

The mid '70's had them moving in that direction, that meant avoiding dealing with the US type of democracy they had installed in Iran in 1953. They were gladly sacrificed as a nNation and as a people if it would help the UD 'crush' the USSR. Lot of good it did , they just found a new enemy that needs about $50T in new weapons to defeat.

I'd love to say your facade was working. But that would be a lie.

You already tipped your hand and exposed your true colours. Why not just come out and post your true feelings and stop hiding them

Afraid of a little criticism? Afraid you won't be able to justify them?

Correction....germain, not germane
Correction...

Ger`main´
a.1.See Germane.
If you really wanted to play that game, you may have noticed my mistake "culpa ability", when it should have said, "culpability".
I don't believe I said anywhere that the murders themselves should be excused, in fact I said they were wrong and I don't condone murder in any way.
While you exonerated them, by placing the blame square on the Pastor.

IMHO I would call burning a bible or other religious text in an attempt to inflame an entire religion a hate-crime and therefore freedom of expression would not be applicable.
Thank Gawd the Supreme Court doesn't follow your opinions.
Hate crimes (also known as bias-motivated crimes) occur when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her perceived membership in a certain social group, usually defined by racial group, religion, sexual orientation, disability, class, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, social status or political affiliation.[1]
Then you now his intent precisely?
I would say the differentiating factor is the expectancy of the result. She does not expect to be raped just becuase she has a mini-skirt on but the pastor expected a strong response from his actions.
Did he? Can you show me some proof?
Having an exhaustive slugfest with you. Oh I can't wait! lol
Ahhh yes, keeping up the cowardly facade.

Of course not. But he is at least literate and I'd assume he'd at lest completed high school. Many Afghans have never gotten even that. Even with a high school education you ought to be smart enough to realize how much more educated you are than an illiterate. How can you then think yourself so superior to them when they've never had such an opportunity. Compare an illiterate Christian in a majority illiterate country to a Muslim with even just a high school education. Same thing.

and you are making a huge assumption that these Afghan's are in fact illiterate. Who knows what their motives are were? You're just demeaning them by assuming they're illiterate and don't know any better.

In that regard Afghanistan has a more mature people in that they are not burning Bibles. Most likely for all the proper reasons. The Pastor won't even be chastised by his own countrymen no doubt, part of the 'bring it on' mentality.

I did but didn't want to pile on in one response.

Please do show where I said they held no blame at all.

I can be pretty sure it was not to grill steaks and make friends with the muslim community. I know he is just a dumb American redneck from FLA but unless his IQ is comparable to a wet sponge (which I'll admit is possible) he had a good idea of the possible implications.

The Afghan may not burn Bibles but the U.S. army will do it for them....just to placate them....

Interesting. The Qur'an refers to the Evangel as the Injil, and encourages Muslims to read it. I wonder how Muslims react to the burning of the Qur'an.

Interestingly enough, Muslims will never draw or sculpt an image of Jesus any more than they will Muhammad, but they will tolerate Christians doing so (at least in non-Muslim countries) probably because they know it's out of their control anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they won't react to burning the Bible on similar grounds. Though by the sound of it, those Bibles were burned in Afghanistan, but again maybe they figure they have no control over that so they focus just on the Qur'an I suppose.

Pile on what? The only spelling mistake you tried to address, was incorrect. My spelling of that word was fine.

Please do show where I said they held no blame at all.
Your assertion, that it's the Preachers fault, absolves them.

Just wait til I get appointted, then you're in for it.
Why am I not worried.

Doesn't matter. When they burn the American flag, it isn't to roast marshmallows. When the Westborough Baptist asshats picket funerals, it's not because they're there to show respect. When NAMBLA lobbies Congress to change child sex laws, it isn't because they just want to take little boys to the park. But they are all protected by the First Amendment.

Your position indicates to me, that you support me killing a couple of my Muslim friends because some Muslim, somewhere, burns a Canadian flag. It would still be wrong for me to do, but it would be their (The ones that burnt my flag) fault.
