Your country can't elect a President without the approval of a College.

The Electoral College? The Electoral College votes the way the popular vote goes within the state. So WHEN (not if) Massachusetts votes for a Democrat... they get all the electoral votes of that state.

So you equate pot-smoking and having sex with prostitutes as real freedom? Figures. You don't know what true freedom is. Your country isn't even able to have an election without the consent of the Monarchy. That's not freedom. I have more freedoms here than you can possible imagine. I have more freedom of speech. I have the right to own a gun. I have the right to protect my family and property. Government power comes from the people. Man is born free.

Oh I see.

Only what you believe is a real freedom counts. By all means, I will admit, we do not have the same gun-related freedoms Americans have. But that is still an individual freedom just as pot-smoking, prostitution, and homosexuality are. So, unless you want to accept that little fact, I couldn't care less if you want to free any more of your speech, but you'll still be on the losing end of this argument.

Canadians don't understand the way our government works.

We can hold an election, manually count the ballots, and know the results that night.

You guys have to use machines, and you still need the supreme court to figure it out, and it takes weeks.

I'd say you guys don't really have a grasp of elections, but in the end, it's not the election that determines your President anyway.

Shocking also that the guy that loses gets a half million more votes than the guy that wins.

Yep, that's real democracy in action.

So can we.

All the time?

Sure it is.

no election without the Monarch's consent eh....lol.... maybe on paper, but that's as far as it goes. Take a look at the King/Byng affair for a little education. Obviously you slept through your Canadian History classes when you went to school.

You are on a land mass with a bunch of people. If only a small percentage of those people are actually 'free', then your freedom is clearly bull**** so wake up.

Does being free mean you get to do whatever you want?

Off hand, we can cite a few blatantly obvious values of freedom where America is truly behind..

Lets see then...

gay rights? (finally got around to passing that law this year did we? Welcome to the rest of the world.)
religious tolerance (hahahahaha!)

Not sure what you mean. There have been all kinds of laws protecting the rights of gay people for years.

The "rest of the world" tolerates gay people? Are you sure?

marijuana (still trailing behind us 'confined socialists')

Marijuana is legal in Canada?

prostitution (see marijuana)

Prostitution is legal?

American freedom.

Please.

If I do recall... did not the Canadian Govt. warn Ann Coulture that Canada's speech laws are a little more restrictive and she should watch what she says while speaking in Canada?

We're not perfect, but do not even go there. The rest of the civilized world's 'socialism' has brought them more actual freedom in modern times, than the version of freedom you believe is the only version that counts.

Like Greek Socialism? French Socialism?

See Unsustainable

and speaking of freedom, I see you still haven't had any response to the Patriot act or the new laws in Arizona? I believe it is.

Prostitution is legal?

Yes.

Feel free to get back on topic folks. If this is nothing but 'America rules', 'No Canada rules', 'You're lame', 'No you're lame!'.... there is no point in leaving it open.

Joffen, for all intents and purposes, you seem unable to back up the meat of your claim.

Is Canada's economy in the toilet and the US's better? Does the US spend less per capita on health care, with a better outcome (ie., life expectancy, infant mortality, ER wait times, surgery wait times)? Does the fact that the US DOES have socialized medicine (even Eagle has pointed out the poor get treated), not factor in?

Answer some of those questions with some cold hard fact rather than just sabre rattling.

Nope, that's illegal, but prostitution is not.

So you aren't 100% free. They put restrictions on it... right?

What happens if I spark up a big fat joint in front of a Canadian Mountie?

Nope.... Anything that supports prostitution is taboo. Same with weed - smoking it isn't a crime. Go figure, eh....

I'll ask you the same... I can just blaze up on the street or in public?
