My gut feeling is they're trying too hard. I don't know how else to say it, it just seems too contrived and forced. What is so hard about making this show interesting? If there are good contestants, if they're good singers and musicians, then, it's interesting. Pick good people and let them sing and give them some choice of what to sing and how to arange it, and give them enough time onscreen to sing a decent amount of music (instead of cutting back on their screen time and songs) - and you have the essense of AI, a simple show and a great show if people stay out of the way of the talent and the competition.

Yes, I completely agree! They're clueless really. They think the public wants this big spectacle and controversies and stuff, while we just want good music. It's like they can't accept that it should be that simple.

I think there are too many big egos involved. It has to be all about them. Then, some of them are being paid so much, they have to come up with a lot of ideas to justify being paid so much. They obviously think they know more than the public - well, we'll see, I guess.

We never discussed this:

Another change that producers briefly tossed around: an "Idol" all-star showdown, which would have featured the show's past winners and finalists competing against one another. The potential rematch "didn't make it very far," says THR, because the former contestants who were approached weren't keen on the idea.

LOL!

Here's another great idea: get all the contestants back, from all nine seasons, and have them re-do the seasons all over again. Maybe Chris Daughtry will win, at last!! I'm going to write Cecile Frot-Coutaz about it tonight!

PS - About that tweet, above, I meant to write about it last night. At first I thought the person meant "explode" as in , "explode on the music scene." But then I read the rest of her tweets and, no, I think she just meant explode, as in, blow up and die.

So Jorge still has a chance? (I'm sorry for always picking on you Jorge. I'm an evil evil person)

I took the exploding as a good thing too..as in exploding his awesomeness all over the world. :D but clearly not if they're adommyforever. LOL People have got to be clearer when they're tweeting stupid things. I can't be expected to keep up on all the terms.

And Adam's picking on teen mom's. :( That show is sad sometimes, but boy does it ever take the romance out of having a baby as a teen.. better than carrying an egg around for a week.

I'm glad we are seeing style stuff about Kris - I always said I liked his style.

Um...you'll have to explain what you mean by that. I don't get it (I don't follow Adam).

LOL that's a very stylish plain white T. :)

The MTV show Teen Mom. Adam tweeted This Teen Mom show on MTV is so depressing. I know it's "real life" but shouldn't there be programming that inspires kids to shoot higher? #glorifyingwhitetrash"

I can see why he's saying that, but some of those kids just don't have a chance, so it is sad. It's "reality" BUT it does show that it ain't easy having a baby at any age and especially when you're trying to finish school, and go to college and have some sort of social life. The egg thing was me talking about Parenting classes at schools. They always give you an egg to cart around and see if you can bring it back unbroken. Might be better to watch Teen Mom's struggle to stay in school.

(Guilty Disclaimer: Totally watch Teen Mom (last season's anyway).. kinda broke my heart a little watching the kids on it)

I sent you another PM. :)

Okay - teen mom. Yeah, that show is "depressing" but it's not meant to be just entertainment. And after all, Adam is shallow. lol

I don't watch MTV at all, lately. I used to. I'm still pissed they made me watch a whole season of Ashley Parker Angel's reality show and even got me to care about him very slightly, then they never renewed it. Bastards! (I'm watching Mr. Holland's Opus right now. For the first time. Richard Dreyfus is singing. I can't really take much more. Changing the channel now.)

Ha! O-Town! I totally watched and was addicted to Making the Band when it aired (well, the first season at least). I even saw O-Town live in 2001!

I never watched Ashley's show though. I had already moved on by then, LOL!

I just lost my post (grrrr). The connector wire came out of my computer (don't have wi-fi). Yeah, it was a reality show with APA. There was one episode with his bandmate from O Town who was now doing construction and got APA a job - he was pathetic. He was pathetic trying to shop for groceries. He and his pregnant girlfriend and her mother lived together while he tried to get an album deal. I think she had the baby during the show. The baby's name was Lyric, I think. Anyhow, the last show, he got to hear his single on the radio. (Or so I seem to recall). But then - no second season. Not a day goes by when I don't wonder what became of him (j/k). I think I saw his CD in the discount bin. :(

There are a lot of cool tweets about Kris tonight.

Tell me, do you search "Kris Allen" or "@KrisAllen", or both? (I search both...)

I love this picture. http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/15334211_2Jro5#1147514829_34n3B-A-LB

Isn't it weird that his album debuted at #5 but was never released as a physical CD (if I'm reading this right)?

I'm not saying that all teen moms are white trash. Don't misunderstand. Yet, most of the ones on that show seem to be. I do, however, think they're are being exploited a bit.
I don't see anything wrong with what he says. He just expressed his opinion about the show and I agree with him. Have you read this?
Teens Becoming Pregnant to Get on 'Teen Mom'? | PopEater.com
The sad fact is that the people on Teen Mom are being celebritised. They are on the cover of magazines, do interviews, and get money from MTV- and why? Because they had a baby at a young age. The media is a serious thing. We should be show casing more inspirational people, but nope. This is what people find entertaining. And If some kids are willing to get pregnant to have 5 minutes of fame then that's a problem.

Anyway, back to the Idol topic.. I'm looking forward to Cook's 2nd album. I think it is going to sell well because he still has a loyal following.

Do I think MTV needed a second season of Teen Mom ? Nope. Once shows hit the magazines any pretensions of reality go out the window. I do however think the show (first season anyway- as I haven't watched the latest) was a valuable slice of insight into teenage life when affected by teen pregnancy. I don't know if you watched it but if you did you would have seen teens making major life decisions in a almost brutally honest way. Plus, I don't consider teenagers poor or otherwise who happen to get pregnant white trash, and that's my problem with Adam's tweet. I understand his reaction to the show, but really not a nice thing to say.

Which doesn't mean that I stopped following him, or burned his albums in a bonfire or anything. :) I just don't like him referring to teens as white trash because they were pregnant. #notasensitivesallyjustdidn'tlikeit

How many followers could he possibly have lost anyway? Surely not that many.

I Hope so. 2nd albums are always tough regardless of who you are, but David's music still gets airplay so "fingers-crossed"

I'm looking forward to Steven Tyler and JLo - more than I thought I would be. They just look like they're having fun in those press shots. I've missed that "fun" thing in Idol the most.

AWM is plying on the radio in Singapore acc. to some tweeters.

Go AWM! GO AWM!

I've seen a lot of tweets from Brazil about Kris lately? I wonder if they ever released the album there? I didn't think that they had for some reason.

He was talking about the latest season and he explained that he was not saying that all teen moms are white trash. He just seem concerned about what he saw on that show and as a viewer he can comment on it. I think he didn't have to explain his tweet to anyone. Its too bad so many people are quick to over-react to other people's tweet. No wonder many celebs are leaving Twitter.

He should then either think about what he's tweeting or not worry about people's reactions to his tweets. Because it really sounded to me like he was calling the kids on that show white trash. And that's fine - it's his right to do that - I've certainly seen worse on twitter about everything. It's not a huge deal, I still don't like him doing it.

Apparently Hedley's having a surge in momentum in this poll due to tweeting about it, LOL.

Well, Adam was never in the position of his girlfriend possibly getting pregnant. Not that a gay person couldn't or wouldn't be sensitive to the isssue if they had the usual amount of empathy. Maybe he doesn't. Pregnant teen white trash are no fun at all, are they?

What was Hedley's tweet?

Jacob didn't seem to be tweeting anything about that...

I assume this is the tweet you were referring to, SleepinIn? (I don't follow Adam so I didn't see it, but one of my followers re-tweeted it, apparently).

adamlambert Woah I lost some followers yesterday cuz I had a valid opinion about a tv show. Hahah. #sensitivesallies #AdammustalwaysbePC

I could say a lot but you probably can already tell what I would say. :)

Mainly I think that since Adam expects people to be sensitive to homophobia, it seems hypocritical that he's calling these young girls who happened to become pregnant, "trash." People need to be as sensitive about things that don't directly concern them as they are about things that do. It reminds me of some of these people who have "NOH8" on their avatars, who then spend a lot of time spewing hate on twitter.

And having said that, what could be more appropriate, here, than a New Year's message from Judy? (Skip to 1:52.) Followed by one of my favorite songs.

YouTube - Judy Garland: Island In The West Indies/ Through The Years

Happy New Year, friends.

You haven't even watched the show so why do you even bother to comment about it? And it's outrageous that you are comparing being gay with being an irresponsible teen mom. Being gay is not a choice! Those teens on the show chose to have unprotected sex and decided to get pregnant. If you are not ready for it why don't you not have sex or be more responsible (it isn't that hard) until you are ready and not complain about the sleepless nights or missing your youth. It is just disturbing that those un-educated kids having kids are now being "promoted" in the media and treated like celebs. Can anyone explain why they deserve to be on covers of those magazines?
