Thems the breaks...

Yes it is. Lucky breaks and convincing wins may be synonymous in Vancouver but not in my neck of the woulds. In any event, I picked the nucks to win the division so they are supposed to beat Colorado imo.

That contradicts your post 2548.

So you don't consider Colorado to be a top end team?

No. If they were, I'd surely pick them over the nucks to win the division. They are too much like Phoenix. Their youth and lack of experience make them too erratic.

With a convincing win over the Avs maybe the naysayers will simmer down for awhile, after all this was a team above .500 they beat.

it was a very good win for canucks last night, they are tied with colorado at the moment for first in
division. one game at a time.
I was there, and thoroughly enjoyed the game, and also the tribute to kirk mc lean.
i like the little changes vineault made, they made the difference, and the team also had lots of jump.
sometimes teams have to hit the wall a little, it's only human to slide away from good habits, it's a
human trait, they are not machines. So, that couple of games that 'didn't smell so good', gave them
and the coaches a wakeup call, to get back on track.

Burrows came out of his 'funk' last night, looked like his ole self, he's very special, very smart,
and has the passion and desire every coach loves in the player, and it rubs off onto others.

canucks play san jose tomorrow, will be a tough game, san jose has been rather puzzling thus far, some
good games some bad, but we all know the talent is there, it's quite obvious, BUT which ever team doesn't
come to play their best, will lose, and they both know that of each other, and any other team they play.

the media and many others say that the regular season doesn't mean much of anything, but what teams do
in the playoffs, but I don't evaluate the hockey like that at all. The regular season means a lot to me,
and whatever team wins the presidents trophy gets my respect for sure, then the little season starts,
being the playoffs, and 'anyone' can win that, not necessarily the top team or the bottom.

It's a little league of 16 teams, over four rounds, and anything can happen to knock a team out, or also
create a team to move on, and in my estimation it is not the best team for the year, only for the playoffs,
but they are fun and exciting, and seems that is all a team is remembered for, how they did in the
playoffs, and the media keep spouting that all season, just get in the playoffs, try
to win your division if you can, but doesn't really matter, no one will care what you
did all season anyway, all of that is forgotton once playoffs start.

Sorry I don't buy it, it's the grind of the season that does it for me, and the
playoffs are just for fun.

Canucks just had another good night, jumped from 7th spot to 3rd spot while the Lanche dropped from 3rd to 7th. The beautiful part is the Canucks did it without shooting a puck.

yeah, I watched that game, good for canucks that edmontons kid line potted the winning goal,
with under a minute to play.
(have to confess I snoozed thru the second period), up very early in vancouver, on the bus at 6:30 a.m.,
to horshoe bay, walked on the ferry, breaky at 8:30, drove our truck to costco, did grocery shopping,
home by 1:30, busy all afternoon, 'I earned that snooze'.

I told you the Avs aren't that good.

Indeed you did. Edmonton is not a team to take for granted.

colorado were on the back end of back to back, and we both noticed them sag a tad last ten
minutes of the game.
it is very hard on the legs, and very difficult to keep up that pace two days in a row, and
because most of them are so young, they did it better than most, and just as I keep moaning
on about, any team who sags at any time, is going to be at the disadvantage with 'any' other team.
remember our win over detroit a while back, well, they are much older than colorado,
and they came to the end all of the last period in that game, and canucks had
their way, would have been a different game, to the finish, had detroit been 'fresher', and i'm not saying canucks would have lost, but game would have
been closer all thru the last period.

Anyone know what Rick Rypien's problem is?

Alcoholism, mental illness, drug addiction-all three?

Curious mind wants to know.

no, it is his personal business, they are not disclosing the problem. I would not believe it to be
drugs, that would be a breech of team policy, and I don't think they would 'support' him like they
have in the past, and are doing now.

I don't need to know, just like I would not want to 'have' to tell others my personal problems, unless
of course, I chose to do so, maybe someday he will.

good luck to him, and I hope he is back sooner than later.

first two periods for me showed the teams 'shared' domination, but canucks
managed those two goals in the second that gave them the edge, then the
3-1 lead thrust them forward and san jose really fell apart, and looked like
a terrible team that just couldn't keep up.

It was a very important win for canucks, as it got that monkey off of their
back concerning san jose, whom they haven't been able to beat for a long time.

Should be a confidence builder for sure.

They don't play till wednesday, when they meet calgary, I think it's their
first meeting this season.

One game at a time folks, and we should give vineault lots of credit, he is
tinkering with the lines nicely, and he has a very good balance going right
now, and a nice assortment of forwards who can be switched about, depending
how the game is going along, and how individuals are playing on certain nights.
Lots of depth to the team this season, just need to get Salo back somewhere in
the future, so that the defence can look that way too, they are doing fine, but
as the season goes along, games become more intense, especially after the trade
deadline, and depth on the back end is important.

Alberts and Rome are playing fine, but they don't need to be overpressured too much,
for too long, they are not 'top' end players, but do fill in and play well when asked,
and I do like alberts over shane o'brian, as he just does his job without the ego.

GO CANUCKS GO
