Vancouver beat Colorado 3 - 1 last night, with goals from H. Sedin, R. Kesler, and R. Torres. The Canucks have a bit of a streak going with five wins in a row.

What did you think Talloola?

I know what Talloola thinks- best thing since sliced bread and that Torres is a good acquisition. Right Talloola?

You are probably right JLM. I thought the team played really well last night. They did let Colorado have too many shots but Schnieder seemed to be on top of them.

yes, torres is playing well, and the team is looking solid, playing well, and look ready to meet
detroit tomorrow night, then they will be off to montreal/toronto/ottawa/buffalo/
pittsburg.
cory schneider played great, he looks so calm and in control, he is now showing everyone how he
earned his reputation all thru juniors, then in manitoba, and now he is NHL ready.
He isn't really a back up at all, he is a starter, but has to prove himself now, and if he and
luongo both play very well all year, then gillis will have to make a decision about schneider, because
he will have earned a starting spot, and will probably be traded, and he will bring a very good player
our way.
It would not be fair to keep him as a back up unless they both play equal games, but that isn't usually
a successful situation, teams need a number one and a back up.

Burrows looks good, and will get better, I'll bet he is really sore and aching from these two games
he's played, it takes a while to get the body up to game playing fitness.
He's allready looking like he is 'annoying' to the opposition, and that is good.

You're right about getting out of game condition. I once played hockey on a regular basis and when I took a couple weeks off, usually because of business travel, I suffered the first few games back. Burrows says he practiced every day for a week but practice never has the intensity of a game.

thats right, they can do everything under the sun off of the ice, but nothing is like actually playing,
dealing with the body contact, and speed.

canucks now have two top rate goaltenders, and one is luongo, makes them a much deeper team, when one
is out, the other is just as good, if one starts being a sieve, the other can pick it up, what team
wouldn't want that.

Exciting and surprising game, so many goals for these two teams, 'who'd a thunk it'.
all four lines rolling real well right now, luongo had a good game, one goal he would like
to have back, but if you watch, the shot went right thru bieksa's legs, thus not giving luongo
much time to get a bead on it.

Canucks stayed fast and fresh for 60 minutes, detroit did not. they are older, and also
back to back for them, but canucks have had a lot of games too, and a trip to and back from colorado.

kesler and malhotra had great games, and the whole team was solid.

off to montreal now for a tuesday game.

vancouver 6 detroit 4

I wouldn't have bet that the Canucks would win this game, or score six goals against Detroit. As it turned out, Vancouver had a goaltending edge and quite a few younger legs and everybody was working. I believe Detroit was getting tired in the third. Six wins in a row? Could Vancouver be turning into a powerhouse?:smile: They could come home from this road trip with a pocket full of points.

Detroit played a tad harder but having played the night before-I saw the game-it caught up with them.

Watching games from around the league it's interesting to see how the level of play is elevated against a team like Vancouver who have a solid reputation and a certain buzz-few players care about another game against Colombus or Atlanta.

columbus is sitting in 7th place in conference and atlanta is in 8th in their conference.
right in the middle of the pack
atlanta has a fun team this year, a few players from last years chicago team, and
they played chicago last night very well, and only lost it in a shoot out.

we all should have respect for the ability of all of the teams in the NHL. any one of
the teams can beat anyone on any given day, and it's not a fluke. it's a very fine line
between winning and losing in the NHL.

the person to listen to very carefully is vineault when he is interviewed about other teams,
he has it right, and he will convey that knowledge to his players all the time.

the media are very bad at telling us how boring and uninteresting certain teams are, 'don't
listen to them'.

some teams got off to a slow start, some didn't, the positions in the standings shift around
at this time of the year as teams settle in, but then injuries come round, and slumps come round,
so lets enjoy canucks on this 'high' right now, because they won't stay 'this high' all season, they
will have their falls from grace at one time or another too, depends on the injury situation, and also
how fresh they stay.

this road trip is good for canucks, (thanks to gillis, as he wrote a letter last year complaining to the
league, how injuries creep into the team when they are given back to back games on big road trips), and also, (how the west coast teams have such a tough road schedule compared to the rest of the league,) so this
road trip has 'no' back to back games, and is set up quite comfortably and games not too far away from
each other.

Boom goes the dynomite.

The game could have gone either way. I wouldn't really go so far as saying boom goes the dynomite. Now, if your team was the Lightning, I can see you saying that.

Man, it's hard being a Leaf fan...:(

Yeah, living around Laugh fans all my life and nothing changes, they win a few games and it's parade time, lose a few and it's parade time.

Laughing stock of the NHL.

Stamkos...first round pick...two goals.

Kessel...cost two firsts and a second....zero goals.

Hey, don't paint all of us Leaf fans with the same brush! I never had any deigns about them winning the Cup this year(I was hopeful that they might squeak into the Playoffs, but that was about it). I know they say that it isn't the Coach's fault, but I honestly don't think that Ron Wilson is the proper coach for this team. I think he is too abrasive and doesn't know how to coach young players.

It's hard to believe that the defense has improved over last year yet the offense has disappeared. I thought for sure that Versteeg was going to have more of an impact than he has shown so far.

Sorry for the OT Leaf post in the Canuck thread, Canucks fans.
