If they are caught they will be sent back, color does not mean a thing. Racial profiling just helps simplify it. If the money was available, I would support randomly stopping everyone and asking for identification. Just like they check for drunk drivers.

OK, so you agree with me that the law will lead to racial profiling, that brown people will be mostly targeted. Now we are getting somewhere. And for that reason the law may violate the federal Civil Rights law. Attorney General is considering whether to launch a court challenge to it. I think he has a very good case.

If Republicans wanted to make it non discriminatory, they would have mandated random checking, or checking everybody's papers. But they didn't do that, I assume they knew very well this will lead to racial profiling.

OSo they use the race card. For the most part we laugh at the accusation that following the law is racist. That word has been watered down so much and folks pay no mind to it any longer.

I can quite imagine that Republicans don't pay any attention to racism, EagleSmack. And that is why Republicans have reputation as racists among the minorities, that is why minorities such as blacks or Hispanics consistently vote Democratic by such huge margins.

That is one thing you don't hear to much of anymore, Irish and other Europeans being sent back. I just happens quietly and no one says anything about it.

How many are sent back, ironsides? I assume citizens of most countries in the world are sent back to some extent.

But are any of them specifically targeted? Does the immigration department say, OK, this month we are going to crack down on Irish illegals and send them back? I seriously doubt that. If during routine processing they come across an illegal (they refuse extensions of a visa to somebody, for instance), they will deport him, I can understand that.

But I seriously doubt that immigration authorities specifically target any race or any nationality.

Race card always works for Democrats, in that they get most of minority votes. And therein lies the long term problem for Republicans, regardless of what happens in 2010. With number of whites shrinking and number of minorities on the rise, future for Republicans is gloomy, unless they can somehow attract minorities to their party.

I'm glad to see that you agree that democrats are just better at fooling people and that you also agree as to who in the population are the most easily fooled...and to follow your own reasoning..since you would vote democrat....you are also easily fooled:lol:

Never said it wasn't racial profiling, which I am not against under certain circumstances this being one of them.

"A sudden new twist in the ongoing rhetorical and legal struggle over Arizona's tough new law to round up illegal immigrants.
Late Friday night as the Memorial Day weekend began, Arizona's Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, in effect, suspended the state's Democratic attorney general from defending the new law in upcoming legal challenges. The measure, known as S.B. 1070, is due to take effect this summer and, among other things, allows local police under federal guidelines to check the immigration status of people they stop. (For a full list of background stories, see Related Items below.)
The governor's abrupt action against Terry Goddard, her likely Democratic opponent in this fall's gubernatorial election, came after months of disputes between the two and at the end of a long day of legal maneuvering in both Arizona and the nation's capital."

I didn't say that Democrats are better at fooling minorities, that implies that minorities are gullible, are easily fooled, a typical conservative opinion.

Democrats address issues which are dear to the minorities (poverty, hunger, lack of education, racial discrimination etc.). Republicans don't care about these issues. Ever since Nixon implemented the Southern strategy, Republican policies are aimed at appeasing the whites and antagonizing the minorities.

They are, like sheep being lead to the slaughter, get themselves into trouble and it becomes the job of the conservatives to bail them out. Those causes you mentioned yes are addressed by the Democrats, but they always run into a brick wall when it comes to funding them. One thing they are good at is trying to spend other peoples money.

One thing they are good at is addressing the issues important to minorities. Republicans ignore issues important to minorities (in order to appease white racists), that is why they get so few of minority votes.

And when did conservatives bail out anybody? When did conservatives ever balance the budget? It took a liberal (Clinton) to do that. Conservatism has been synonymous with borrow and spend for the past several decades. Whenever conservatives are in power, it is a safe bet that spending, debt and deficit will go sky high. Conservatives have not bailed out anybody.

I sure hope all this immigration Hoopla isn’t a dirty Underhanded, self-interested republican trick, being played out and hyped up for no other reason then to undermine and discredit Obama’s citizenship in order to try to win the next election by default( and breath)……

That would be truly sad and A new low reached …

O.K. shooting in Arizona of a crazy racist who hates Mexicans and Democrats...

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik quote during press conf. on Rep. Giffords shooting: "[Arizona has] become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

Personally the has USA is responsible for the Mexican economy and the flow of traffic across the border.

During the El Salvador's Civil War (1979–1992) the United States was worried that Mexico could end up a communist nation of the US Southern Border.

They helped get elected a US puppet Mexican President called Salinas de Gortari who min turned devalued the Mexican currency and stole billions of dollars from the Government.

He now lives in Europe and single handedly destroyed the Mexican economy forcing it's own citizens to seek a better life north.

The USA did the same BS in Hati, and was called on their actions during the Earth Quake.

Now if anyone knows, many illegals are waiting for their green card and it takes years to get **** done they stay in the USA working while awaiting for the papers with the family they support..

The United States and Tea Baggers are leading the United States into an new era of racism, cultural insensitivity, hate and biggotry... just be glad Canada is not following the USA into the same **** hole... oh wait, they are.

With all the anti-Immigration and other lightning rod issues the state of Arizona is passing.. I think the state of Arizona needs to change their flag.

Not really for or against the new law, just think their are better ways to enforce immigration laws..

I would start by building a fence... then when you have control over the flow of illegals, deal with the ones already in the USA.

Considering the US' constitutional separation of church and state, I doubt they'd accept adding a Hindu symbol to their flag any time soon.

We started talking about the Arizona Flag and end up calling people Nazis. The law the people
of that State enacted has some problems, however there is a reason for some form of action.
There are people crossing the boarder everyday that are not citizens of the United States and
those people are in America illegally eating up the tax dollars that are for Americans.
Citizens of the United States are being denied benefits in Education, Health care, Seniors services,
Veterans Affairs, the additional costs for Boarder Patrol, for Law Enforcement, for Food Stamps
and other social services. Yes the people of Mexico are in poverty with that i agree. The taxpayers
of America should not have to fund their inability to look after their affairs.
Some people think oh let them stay, why everyone else who came to that country had a set of rules
to follow before entry and becoming a citizen. Mexicans, and Central Americans are not citizens of
the United States they are illegal aliens and therefore should not be afforded taxpayer dollars to live
in the US with all the rights and privileges of American Citizens.
Now, the problem is they are targeting Mexican or Latin looking people, when enquiring as to whether
they have identification when stopped for other offences. I do think they should have an opportunity
to contact family to provide ID before being deported. Face it, if it people from Latin America that are
slipping past Border Patrol. and entering America in the middle of the night, why in hell would the
police ask Swedes if they are citizens. Perhaps, the compromise should be, anyone without ID
should be held in a immigration center until they can prove they are citizens or on a Visa of some
kind that permits them to be in the State Legally.
I think the law needs some clarification and strict rules as to how its applied but it is not fascist or
discriminatory. What is discriminatory is that people can be allowed to stay in the country and be
protected by politicians and the courts at the expense of the taxpayers who pay and real legal
American Citizens who have to go without services because imposter's are living there taking jobs,
and not paying their fair share. Socially I am on the left, fiscally I am more conservative, but common
sense and fairness clearly comes down on the side of people who are American citizens those
services are part of their being a citizen of the country of their birth. The people of Mexico must begin
to solve their own political and social problems with made in Mexico solutions.
The American Government must take some real action popular or not, to ensure they protect their borders
and provide security realistically beyond rhetoric. The first step is to know who is in the country, and
that is not racist, it is practical

Really Arizona should require all its citizens to display ID badges with an RIF chip embedded. Then police could check everyone they passed by with a monitoring device. They would then be able to quickly chase down and apprehend anyone who did not have a valid working RIF badge. It could also be used to access public buildings so no terrorists could get in. You could also us it for gaining government services so if you were not eligible they could just broadcast a signal to your chip and you couldn't rip off the government. Also private companies could require people to have a valid ID card to use their services or buy their products. Illegals wouldn't be able to get food. I don't see a down side to this.

Really??

First off most of the people crossing the border are looking for a better life and do the jobs, most Americans feel they are to good to do and rather saty on Unemployment Insurance or Welfare.

What is the average income tax refund for the poor, $500 ro $1,500. To work in the United States you require a Social Security number, however as an illegal you generally just usa any 9 digit number, which does not match the name.

In short, you can not do your taxes at years end and you don't get a refund.. So Social Security Administration keeps that $1000 of the 10 million illegals that don't file taxes..

Where is that 100 billion??

Yes the people of Mexico are in poverty with that i agree. The taxpayers
of America should not have to fund their inability to look after their affairs.

The US Government created the probem to begin with when they got involved in Mexican politics and the CIA put their puppet in power, same as they did in Hati, Giana and many other bananna republics.

Mexicans, and Central Americans are not citizens of
the United States they are illegal aliens and therefore should not be afforded taxpayer dollars to live
in the US with all the rights and privileges of American Citizens.

What are they afforded? They can not get welfare or social services without a birth certificate. They can't vote. They can't get a drivers license (except California) and they are not entitled to health insurance.

They are second class citizens who work for $3 as a waitress and tips.. that's minimum in most states.. or $5 as a labor, minimum wages.

They cooks, cleaning crew, maids at the hotel as almost all illegal, the front desk... the white person is usually the American. The illegals are in the back cleaning up your **** out of sight,

The American Government must take some real action popular or not, to ensure they protect their borders and provide security realistically beyond rhetoric. The first step is to know who is in the country, and

Your right, the United States should secure it's future, protect resources send US businesses into Canada to buy up all of Alberta's oil and gas, once that is done require all Canadian now need a passport to visit the United States, lastely, build a fence and keep Canadian in Canada... the USA after all own all the oil and gas... it's does not want the people..

OH! They did that already..

Border fence Blaine, WA & White Rock, BC and being built all along the lower mainland. Those dam frost backs.

Really Arizona should require all its citizens to display ID badges with an RIF chip embedded. Then police could check everyone they passed by with a monitoring device. If you are not a citizen, and you crossed the boarder illegally you are entitled to nothing in America
as you should not be there in the first place. That is what it means The United States Of America,
Canada or Great Briton. It is their job to look after the interests of legal citizens of the country it is
not the expectation or duty or obligation to look after illegals from anywhere. It is just that these
people, from Mexico and many are not Mexican they are Central and South Americans, are the
ones crossing and entering illegally. When someone is an illegal they have no status, therefore they
are not entitled to share in the bounty of someone else's country period.
As for them looking for a better life and working in the fields and so on, that is not Relevant, they are
not citizens, therefore they are not part of the American Society as citizens of the United States and
should be sent home immediately. The same holds true for Canada.
The best way to handle this is to change the policy for example, someone arrives here on our shores,
we should have no hearing what so ever. They should be put on a plane and sent back to their
nation of birth. We should make it illegal to be hear without going through proper channels be it the
refugee system or what ever. If we spelled that out loud and clear within a year very few if any would
come, especially if they were turned over the the government from where they came.
If they follow documentation, and the proper entry system for immigrants or refugees, I have no
problem with people coming here. There are a lot of my fellow citizens who need a helping hand, and
there are many people who came here from elsewhere that we could benefit from programs and
instead we spend the money outfitting cue jumpers in some cases who turn out to be criminals in
their homeland.
I am socially progressive, but we have to deal with common sense here, if someone is not a citizen or
has not entered the country legally they should be deported regardless of how long they lived here.
It would encourage legal immigration, and a managed system, I for one don't want just anyone coming
here and making this country their home, I want to be sure they are good citizen material. For the fact
they slipped into the country in the middle of the night, leaving their own country behind does not spell
a lot of loyalty to me. The Arizona Law should be the law, with some minor changes. to secure the
boardes and prevent illegal immigration in North America period.
