Karrie my PC was doing the same thing after awhile. Slow speed, crashing, longer boot up times. I took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy (I'm not sure if you have those up there) and they cleaned out everything. Your hard drive picks up so much junk on the net and it just eventually get overwhelmed with garbage.

If it was me, I would put the restore CD in and skip the whole troubleshooting process. If it's a hardware issue, it will manifest it self with the new install.

Sure... the restore CD... I'll pretend I know where that is...

With the renoes in the basement it would take forever to dig through boxes and try to find the damn thing.

Ohh, Karrie. You see, problems like this occur when housewives are not properly supervised when using binary counting machines. What has the world come to...

Have you tried a simple system restore? Where you pick a time when the computer was operating fine and you restore all the settings to that time. You can find system restore in accessories under system tools

Okay, I've been having computer issues for a long time, with recurring freezing of my computer. It's now become immensely clear that it occurs anytime I watch any kind of video. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my web browser, as well as all the flash players, etc that I can think of, and still it keeps happening. I can not watch any video content without having to do a hard reboot on my comp. I've also run virus scans, adware scans, and they all claim my comp is now squeaky clean.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?

If you have the money for it (probably at least $75) take it to a reputable computer geek and have it overhauled and cleaned. (Sure beats screwing around with these frickin' things and pulling your hair out. ) The sh*t that goes on with these things is uncanny.
