Rick I'm not sure if they can bounce back and win this series, The only way they could get a goal was with a two man advantage. Out on a limb here......The Canucks in five or six games. Four games wouldn't surprise me......
;-)

they've only played one game juan, and if we see chicago
come out and play the same as they did last night, then
I might agree with you, but not until then.

One game doesn't tell the whole story, and canucks must
continueing playing the way they did last night, and if
Luongo had not been at the top of his game in the
first period, results would have been much closer, they
missed chances and he made some great saves.

And we missed chances too, and their goalie made some great
saves in the first period.

Sure canucks could win this thing in four or five, but that
would mean that chicago won't be able to improve their
game, and they didn't finish second in the west because
of poor play 'all' season, although there were many games where they 'just' didn't apply the work required to win, they have lots of talent, and
they must find a way to show that, by outworking us.

No if the Canucks don't go for all they're worth, they could be dead quick like. Good teams don't get lulled into a lacksadaisical attitude.

nothing needless, I wasn't correcting you, not at all, keep
on with your opinions, I am enjoying them very much.

Well thank you for that, tallola. Coming from someone with so much NHL knowledge I appreciate you saying so.

CBC was showing Stanley Cup Classics last night, and darn if I didn't decide to watch it. Not being a fan for so many years, I had no idea what the outcome was. It was a game where the NY Rangers played the Canucks and won. Sorry I didn't catch what year it was, but am sure you know. Not knowing the outcome made it quite exciting to watch even though it was awhile ago. Gave me a better understanding of how players have changed, rules have changed, and how the game is so much faster now. If they show anymore, I will be watching.

I think I have caught the hockey bug.

That was probably 1994 when the Canucks were one goal post away from winning the Cup. I remember Trevor Linden coming out of that series looking like he'd been run over by a freight truck. A lot of heart that kid.

The Canucks were wearing black uniforms with orange insignias and logos, if that helps any. My neighbors thought it was the year that Vancouver rioted when they lost the cup.

Well here we go, game two of the series is about to get underway.

Any predictions?

Will Luongo stand up to the pressure or fold like a tent?

I didn't realize it was kosher to clap during one's national anthem.

Ah well, on with the game.

The Canucks just got a 2:00 minute power play at 16:26 into the first. The BlackHawks just got another penalty and the Canucks will have a 5 on 3 advantage for a minute and a half.

as well

from 2-0 and loose 4-2 it is obvious the chemistry was broken on the offensive and the defensive line.

The Canucks must win game 3.....:canada:

I'm certainly no hockey expert, but I noticed what I thought were two of their main faults tonight, one is repeated passing the puck with out taking an extra split second when they had lots of time to make sure they were passing to a team mate. The second thing that bothered me was too many shots on goal from 30-40' out, when they could have gone right in. I realize it's easy to judge it while watching T.V. What did you think, Talloola.

canucks played a team who 'had' to win this game, come hell
or high water.

Chicago started same as we started one of those games in
L.A. and were almost paralized for a while, then just played
their way out of it.

We didn't give them anything, they pressed and caused us
to make some mistakes.

I was getting concerned when we just didn't score on our
power plays throughout the game, as we just needed one or
two more goals to make things a little more comfortable, and
a couple of power play goals could have done that for us.

We hit two goalposts,unlucky.

Does anyone out there realize how hard this is? I mean
really?
Give them goals, come on. Do you think we are just going
to stand around and give the game to them, just like
we won the last game, the chicago 'so'called' talking heads
said that all of our goals were because chicago didn't do
what they were suppose to. daaaaa no kidding, but they
weren't going to give canucks credit for much of anything.

So obviously they thought chicago just gave us the game.
Fans are the same everywhere, always blame their own team
for giving the game away, and not see how the other team
'took' it, chicago put the push on and pushed us back, they
put hossa on the toews/kane line, and hemmed us in, very powerful
line. They were desperate and took desperate measures, and we just
couldn't score a couple of powerplay goals when we needed them, if we
had, we would have won the game.

That is what the battle is all about, taking advantage of
the other's vulnerabilities at one time or another. When
we couldn't score on those power plays, I said to my husband, I see the clock ticking away, and some where along
the way chicago will pot a goal and tie this game up, then
could be overtime, but didn't get quite that far.

This is playoffs, might go 7

Now it's the best of 5, they have home ice advantage.

Good game.

well lots of things happened in this game tonight, but for
me the 'outcome' was caused from one thing only.

The goalies.

Their goalie was like velcro first half of the game, and
Luongo was shaky, canucks had tons of chances, 'good'
chances, and he stopped everything. Canucks could have
had 4 or 5 goals by the ten minute mark of the second
period, but it was them who put one in every so often,
and then the game got out of reach.

Power play was not working again, and I also thought the
twins didn't play well, daniel missed chances early on,
but after that, that line went dead, looked a little better
when burrows was put on it, but then he took a stupid
penalty which caused another goal for them.

I also don't understand why vineault thinks ryan johnson
will make a difference, thought he was not good tonight,
lost faceoffs, which he is suppose to win, would much
rather have seen grabner play instead.

And Demitra is a step too slow, and can't keep up with the
play, doesn't help anything.

So, we have to get to their goalie next game. We will be
in same position that chicago was 'last' game, we have to
win it, nothing else can happen, lose that game and they
give the tournament away, so lets see how it goes.

I think Vancouver's defense could take some of the blame for tonight's loss. There was almost always a Chicago player on top of Luongo. Luo should have stopped at least three of those goals but he got no help from the defense. And you're right about the other goaltender. He stopped just about everything early on.

he had trouble with the puck when it was right in front of
him after he lost control of it, an old problem of his,
which hasn't been a problem of late, but was tonight.

I guess canuck offense has to charge and swarm the net
like chicago did, should have been a penalty, or 'no goal'
on their 5th goal, as a crowd were all in the crease pushing
luongo back, hence puck rolled over the line, but actually
that didn't change anything, as the game was lost by then
anyway.

just as I was nattering about our power play in the last game,
not putting anything in, I was again nattering about all of those
shots and great chances that did not become goals, and mentioned
that 'this' could come back to haunt us later on, hope not, bit it did.

I mentioned before this play off began, that it would be
a battle between the defense and goalkeeping, as both
teams have good offense.

After watching the three games, I see their defense as
stronger than ours, and that's nobody's fault, it's just
the way it is.

Canucks have had bad luck all year on defense, lots of
injuries, but then so did chicago, but they have a few
defensemen who are 'elite' quality, and we just don't
quite have that quality of defensemen on our team, I'm
sure we will over the next 2 or three years, but not right
now, and of course mitchell has been out for some time.

The goalies are a toss up, luongo should be the better of
the two because of age and experience, but tonight was
not an example of that, first two games were.

So, it seems to me that luongo will have to be at his very
best from here on in, as they will swarm him, and look for
anything to knock him off his game, guess we will have to
do that to their goalie too, but then, next game will have
'different' referees, and maybe they won't let players get
away with what they got away with tonight, so it might not
work.
