Is selin posting on CC? Or is that a figment of my imagination?
Excuse me. I forgot that news around here never gets contorted. Especially by folks like SJP, Soc, etc. ;)

She obviously has access to reality. It isn't as if some of us haven't attempted to open her eyes. Her choice is to keep them shut. A common problem among her little clan here.
Everyone does, if they ignore the mainstream media and go digging. Mainstream media has quite shallow coverage.

Oh then I guess she's a hypocrite as well...

You know... the prejudging... experiencing a neighbor face to face...rarely getting good news... that stuff...

...and all.
It happens. I know people shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but most do just that and they do it frequently.

The truth, or something that somewhat resembles it, is out there, one needs to educate themselves. I've tried to share some facts with selin. She has no need of them. She's happy in her small world with the likes of mhz and eao.

Actually Bear, she has a point. Or at least made me think about how other countries view the USA. They do not get everyday news of the USA, are separated by distance, and most of the news they do get about it is when the USA does something overseas, and that news is not all that pretty sometimes. We are next door and understand that the policies of the feds may not particularly jive with public. Same problem as Canada has, but do people outside of our countries see that aspect in the news? I doubt it.
It's basically a bad rep based on a lack of info.

Anna , America has considerable cooperations with Turkey especially for its Eastern Asia project . America isn't neighbour of us but having close corperations make us know some more news than you all imagine even if The president of Turkey tries to cover it with some other mess.
i am sure there are a lot of things which we don't know about America but as you have mentioned "when the USA does something overseas, and that news is not all that pretty sometimes", other countries who suffer from the that kind policy of America which i don't like any know America as a really matter for them.
"it is basically a bad rep basedon a lack of info" that can be said for Turkey to CNDB too.

Good example of my point. How would anyone know which posters in here provide more accurate information just by giving CanCon posts a cursory glance? You because you said you do? SJP because he says he does? lmao
It's easy to jump on someone's ass because they aren't informed, but it's just as easy to tell them they need to become more informed.
Were you all that informed about countries across the oceans at 18?

Then what you see is mostly corporate policies and not necessarily gov't policies of the USA. Sometimes there's a huge difference.

Absolutely. Sadly not going to happen, closed mindedness is next to impossible to reverse.

Closed-mindedness is simply unwillingness to correct ignorance. Selin is young. The young are pretty good at shedduing ignorance when confronted by the right info. Old farts like SJP, etc. aren't.

Irrelevant. My sons know more about Canadian, American and international history then the bulk of adults that frequent this site.
Like hell it's irrelevant. You probably took great care in overseeing your kids' educations. It's like comparing my Catholic upbringing to yours. Different environment, different experiences, and different education. Incomparable. What you are saying is that everyone should be just as aware of everything as everyone else everywhere else.

Of course that's what I'm saying. Especially if you're going to comment on it.

Anyway, Selin, because Bush & his administration was such a jerk is not a good enough reason to consider the USA always like that and a lot of the time, corporate America is largely exploitative. But the USA is also known to be quite generous and not all its business is exploitative.

Let's list a significant campaign promise that Obama has kept. Let's talk about the promise that eligibility for Medicaid be expanded.

PolitiFact | Expand eligibility for Medicaid - Obama promise No. 57:

Before Obama and the health care reform law, Medicaid was one of the most useless government programs. And that's coming from me, a liberal who really likes government programs.

It was useless because it was insanely exclusive. It's supposed to be free health insurance for poor Americans, but over time, the definition of "poor" has changed. We have a situation where Americans who are by all accounts poor, do not qualify for Medicaid because they're still considered to be too wealthly for it.

There are masses of Americans who can benefit from Medicaid, but do not pass the acceptance standards. Some states that are ideologically opposed to government programs even make Medicaid more hard to get. It's a mess.

Expanding eligibility is just common sense. Good job Obama.

no , i sometimes appreciate yours too but sometimes you lose your control and you began to mock of even putting forward your little son for that case.
why don't you understand? i just talk about what is going on Eastern Asia because of one policy (i don't mean every policies! ) i am closed-minded because i forgot mentioning also the brillance of America manipulating the trade and money so succesfully ,how good America is for Canada or anything else...
there are a lot of things , my discussion is on that point but you always insist on that i am closed-minded why? because i talk about the things which you don't like to accept. you are closed-minded because you are just stuck in how i should turn that girl into what topic i want to talk about.

repeating the lessons i know before is very nice ,thanks for your education ,feel good now Ego-man?

Trust me selin, I never lose control, everything I say for a specific reason. I put forth my sons for the very reason, they would embarrass the majority of this board, on topics of history, Canadian, American and International history.

I understand complete selin, hence why I pick up on things paople say and how they say the, Your words betray you.

Not at all. That's what you would like it to be, but the truth of the matter is something completely different.
