Oh! You have nothing better to do then. What if nothing happens? You had better have something planned for Friday, just in case, eh.
I sure do. I have a parcel due at Sears for pick up on Friday. maybe I'm wrong for wishing it happens on Thursday because if it did happen, I really doubt there would be any less traffic on Friday when I go to pick up the washer parts anyway.

There are indeed, but I've never met or read anything by a Catholic theologian who doubts that Christ was real, and frankly I don't see how people who doubt it could continue to call themselves Catholic. Christ's reality seems pretty central to the faith. It's perfectly clear from scripture that it's not given to anyone to know when the second advent will occur, so you're certainly right that anyone who claims to know is deceived and deceiving. But it also seems perfectly clear from scripture (at least as I understand it) that Christ and Paul and several other people whose words are recorded in the New Testament expected it to occur within the lifetimes of people who heard Christ speak, and that obviously didn't happen. I've read a lot of apologists who try to explain that away, but I remain deeply unconvinced that there's any substance there at all.

Can't say that I agree with you when you state that Christ said that anything beyond his death and resurrection would take place in his life time. As I stated previously Christ did tell his disciples that no man could know God's timetable. Which makes it clear to me that anyone claiming to know the time of the second coming is talking out of their ass. This is the reason that I discount a lot of what Paul says in all his letters and discount revelations period.

Paul, to me, was the first fire and brimstone evangelist and those types have ALWAYS not sat well with me. To me, those types have twisted Christs teachings of peace, love, and forgiveness.

For me, I like to think that I have sifted through the chaff (with some divine help) to get to the message that Christ was trying to get across to us those 2000 years ago. I chose not to "throw the baby out with the bathwater" because things didn't make sense or were contradictory on the surface.

Because of what I "choose" take and leave in the bible there are those that say I am not Catholic or that I am not even Christian. To them I say, "you can suck my jabonee". I chose the Holy Roman Catholic Church because it fits what I believe the closest. The Church does not discount evolution or science because it doesn't fit the literal meaning of the Bible. The Church, for the most part, looks deeper than just the words. So, even though I don't agree with everything the Church teaches, it is a close enough fit.

So how did they have the first coming pegged as outlined in the NT?

Just phone the store on Thurs. morning and it will be there. Parcels always come in a day early. Be sure you check it out before you leave the store. I ordered a gray shirt for my husband at Christmas. Size 2X What I got was a woman's white and purple blouse in size 2. He didn't like it and it looked a tad too small. I took it back.

So how did they have the first coming pegged as outlined in the NT?
It was explained to them over a 3 1/2 year period. It is true nobody will know the day, that doesn't mean we are left without some signs that show us that day has arrived, when it does arrive. This passage below is an example of just that, unknown time but certain events must happen of it is not the return.

1Th:5:1:
But of the times and the seasons,
brethren,
ye have no need that I write unto you.
1Th:5:2:
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th:5:3:
For when they shall say,
Peace and safety;
then sudden destruction cometh upon them,
as travail upon a woman with child;
and they shall not escape.
1Th:5:4:
But ye,
brethren,
are not in darkness,
that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1Th:5:5:
Ye are all the children of light,
and the children of the day:
we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1Th:5:6:
Therefore let us not sleep,
as do others;
but let us watch and be sober.

Not Christ's lifetime, the lifetime of people listening to him. Matthew 16:28 and Mark 9:1 are the usual citations, and they both say almost exactly the same thing, that there are some people in the group Jesus was addressing who will live to see his return. Matthew puts it as "see the Son of man coming in his kingdom," Mark has it as them seeing "the kingdom of God come with power." I've seen a lot of elaborate dissections of the exact phrasing that attempt to explain away what they plainly say, but I don't find them convincing. Paul wouldn't have either, it's clear from his writings that he expected the second advent pretty much any minute.

As shown in this example.

2Th:2:1:
Now we beseech you,
brethren,
by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th:2:2:
That ye be not soon shaken in mind,
or be troubled,
neither by spirit,
nor by word,
nor by letter as from us,
as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th:2:3:
Let no man deceive you by any means:
for that day shall not come,
except there come a falling away first,
and that man of sin be revealed,
the son of perdition;

Another sign of it being in their day is Jesus didn't have the final book penned until the writer was old and brittle. Probably passed away before the document was off the island.

Things haven't been the same when dealing with Sears since their call centers moved to the Philippines.

No - 2X means a double extra large. Men's clothing and even some women's goes from xs (extra small) to over 5X large. My husband is 6'3" and he wears a 2X shirt. One of my sons wears a 2X also and the other wears a 3X. They are big men. I have a niece who wears size zero and my daughter-in-law wears size 2. Sizing these days is weird.

LOL - Hence the reason we received a women's blouse size 2 rather than a man's sweater size 2X! That aside, for the most part, even though they give you a time the parcels arrive, usually they are here the day before anyway. With the exception of Christmas, they only deliver here two days a week now. Lots of their stuff is turning to K-Mart/WalMart quality anyway. Not that all of it was ever really good stuff but some of it was fine. I order less and I send more back then ever before. I used to spend a lot of time wandering around the store but it's getting junky looking now.

An understatement.
