Education Key to Fighting Islamic Extremism

An article by Thomas L. Friedman advocates funding for Western style schools in places like Yemen as a deterrent to Islamic extremism. He claims that Western educated Muslims are much less likely to join the fanatical Muslim hate groups that seek to destroy everything connected to the West, and it could be done at a fraction of the cost needed to use military action against them.

Friedman is a brilliant guy.....From Beirut to Jerusalem is a great book, I'd recommend it to anyone.......but I'm not sure how you protect such schools and their students fronm the Islamists........or even establish them in countries where western ideals are considered next to blasphemy.....

Show me where I have over stated what has been going on over there since the Brits and the French tried to control the oil in the middle east. Your view of what has been going on over there seems to require blinders. Islamic fundamentalism is a direct result of British, French and now, US foreign policy.
