The most consistent teams to this point are: San Jose, Pittsburgh,
Washington, New Jersey,Buffalo,L. Angelos,Colorado Avalanche,
chicago,Calgary, Nashville.

In the east I like Pittsburgh and New Jersey
In the west I like San Jose, Chicago,

Will update at a later date, too early to predict, many good
teams this year, even many who aren't doing well in the standings
right now, and that includes the canucks.

At the moment its a tossup between Pens, Sharks, Caps and possibly the Devils. For a 31-10-4 team the Hawks are really disappointing to watch, they really don't seem like a top team on the ice. As for Canadian teams well yea we all know what happens there every year.

Pitty I cant change my display name, I'm getting tired of the Sens management trading top players away for draft picks they turn around and waste. This teams going no where.

I love watching chicago, with the exception to last night
when they blew a 4 goal lead in the last period and ended
up losing in a shoot out with minny.
A good team like chicago need that shock once in a while
so they don't stay too cocky when in the lead. Their
cockiness is good, but must be balanced with responsibility,
which they didn't have last night.
New Jersey are very good.
The West is stronger than the east, which makes it quite
confusing, when trying to pick the top teams.
philly is improving now, with new coach.
canucks and calgary can't be counted out, but don't think
calgary have enough scoring, kipper saves them night in
and night out.
san jose of course, and with heatley there, they shouldn't
collapse in the play offs, and I'm sure they're tired of
doing that, with such good players.
detroit will get better when healthy, don't count them out
it will be interesting from here on, very exciting after
olympics, hockey will ramp up, and become very intense.
Injuries are the big divider.

I like the Devils and the Sabres this year in the east only because of the goalies and coaching.

The west.....not sure...I've been saying the Sharks for years now and they vanish in the playoffs...so I think I will take Vancouver or Colorado as the underdog.

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and put $500 on the devils to win at 15 to 1...I couldn't believe the odds were that great so I bit.

I was at the game in Montreal last night and Brodeur is unreal.....UNREAL! Good game though, our little guy Halak sure can move around quick. No goaltending issues in Habs land that's for sure.:canada:

Dont count on San Jose choking this year Heatley obviously brought them something they've been lacking on this first line for a while now. If they weren't an American team I'd jump ship with Heatley and start supporting them :-|

I just watched an injury decimated Vancouver Canucks team blast Chicago 5-1. I'm going to take our Canucks more serious from now on. On a given night, Vancouver is capable of beating any team in the league. As someone said, for Vancouver to win the Stanley Cup they only have to get in the final and beat whatever Eastern team that shows up.....;-)

just compare how many western players are on team canada,
compared to eastern.
western conference is much stronger right now.
doesn't mean they are going to win cup, but they do
win over the east more than not.

Ballard destroyed the Leafs. He was an embarassment to the NHL.

yes he was, although I think they are quite embarrassed
now as well, (for different reasons), oh well, they can
compete for the bottom spot now, and hope they win the
lottery for first overall pick.
They will have to lose harder, as edmonton is there today
I believe, with carolina one point up.

The Toronto Maple Leafs made some important trades got rid of seven crappy players for two good ones.

A new goalie that can stop goals and the other that can score goals.

Just have to wait and see if the coach can succesfully integrate them into the team
