It appears that house down the block is enjoying Christmas 365 days/ year, still what can you do, parents will be parents.
There is a book written many years ago that theorizes Christ was in fact a vision,
that the apostles saw whille eating muxhrooms. Sorry don't remember the title or the author just a little bit of his supposition.

The book was The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross, written by John Allegro. He was a philologist, an analyst of the derivations and common roots of language, and the book was published in the early 70s.
It is, of course, at best, pure speculation, and at worst an attempt to discredit Christianity under the guise of 'scholarly interpretation'.. but it's been out of print for decades, and has not been discussed even in the dustiest of academic basements in years.
The Holy Bible, by comparison, has not been out of print for 2 millennium, and is still discussed everywhere, even Canadian Content Forum. :smile:

John Allegro was at the top of his field and was appointed by the British Government to an international committee to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls. His credentials were impeccable. The church, on the other hand, was, of course, deeply threatened by his findings and left no stone unturned to discredit him. The truth is, that the church is a fraudulent political organization masquerading as a religious one. It has no standing in truth or fact.

well, cliffy, i consider the allegation (of the pagan origins of Christianity) of such little importance as to barely worth commenting on. It appeals to a small franchise of misanthropes and hysterics.. i see you are incapable of responding to any of the specific, well developed arguments of the article, and would rather continue on with your delusional, misanthropic ways.. so i'll just half to wish you Merry Christmas... to your bah.. humbugs, Ebenezer. :smile:
