I gave you my response to that, alley (just two posts down from your post). Some of the terms will be acceptable to almost everyone, but many will have major problems with some others.
Humans may have an intellect but what they do with it, in many cases, is not too intelligent.
Quite so, intelligence is a double edged sword. It can be used to take mankind to unimagined heights of prosperity, of achievement, or it can be used to make mankind extinct from earth.
Some maybe in different order, but all say basically the same thing, pick anyone of the 4 versions you like, they do not conflict with each other,
When the Israelites accepted the Ten Commandments from God at Mount Sinai, they committed themselves to following a moral code of behavior.
The Ten Commandments
1. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of slavery in Egypt.
2. You shall have no other gods but me.
3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
5. Honor your father and mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
10. You shall not covet.
Ten Commandments - Listed
As simple as these 4 versions are, man still managed to find a way to screw them up.
We're too emotionally and spiritually retarded to use our technological advancement wisely.
Unfortunately, god didn't forsee the need for a few more commandments like:
11. Thou shalt not bomb your neighbour back into the stone age.
12. Thou shalt no piss off your neighbours as they might smite your a$$. (speaking of Israelites)
Of course it does not matter that it was your precious British goverment who created this problem in the first place, there being no Canada at the time to stop them.
Why do you think Christians kill more Muslims than the reverse? Because Christians are more hysterical than Muslims. And why are they more hysterical than Muslims? Because nothing can be more traumatizing than the death of God.
Although my grandfather brought our family name from Britain back in the thirties, I have no emotional or political ties to the monarchy or the government of Britain and have maintained throughout most of my life that the British are the most civilized barbarians on the planet. By comparison, the US government are more like uncivilized barbarians.
They are not just listed in different order, ironsides or worded differently. Some of them are fundamentally different for Catholics, Protestant and Jews. Look up on the internet.
e.g. the Commandment about not making graven image of God is a Protestant Commandment; it doesn’t appear in your list. So presumably the Commandments you listed are Catholic Commandments.
Anyway, many people will have a problem abiding by the first four Commandments. These are written exclusively for Christians only and do not concern non Christians.
As to others, they are only Common sense, why does one have to refer to Bible to abide by it. Anyway, Christians do not agree with what the Commandments say.
e.g. what does ‘thou shalt not murder’ mean? Some Christians interpret it to mean that abortion is forbidden in Bible, since they claim that abortion is murder. Others are OK with abortion, but they think that death penalty is forbidden in Bible, since they think that death penalty is a cold blooded murder by the state.
So is it not as simple as you seem to think.
