Jesus died and his spirit went to heaven to be in the neighborhood of God.
God is Eternal and Everlasting: and is Alive: does not die.

God is nothing else than a loving neighborhood where each neighbor is "turning the other cheek" as a revolutionary way to deal with envy and the masochism that goes with it.

You atheists, object because there is the misery, the illness, the poverty.
That's certainly part of it for a lot of us, but only a small part. Our disbelief doesn't rest on it, it's just a bit of garnish. I wouldn't believe as you do even if there were no misery, illness, or poverty.

What you don't know about beliefs is that they may be involuntary and hidden deep in your unconscious:
You don't know that either, it's just philosophical rambling with no basis in evidence. I see nothing that suggests it might be correct, and I don't believe it is. Psychoanalysis hasn't even demonstrated there *is* such a thing as the unconscious mind in the sense it uses the term. I think Zizek is just making stuff up on the basis of no evidence at all then tarting it up with the jargon of his trade to make it sound profound and insightful, when in fact it's pure speculation. There's a large community of scholars like him who congratulate each other for their profundity and insights, and give each other awards, and contribute nothing of any real value to human thought. Google "Sokal hoax" and read the story of one guy who skewered them. And they didn't even have the grace to be embarrassed.

On a thread about Jesus, crying for evidence can only be a lack of courage.
It takes more courage to stand against the juggernaut of religious fervour than to capitulate to a belief in the validity of fairy tales and myths.

Go kill yourself, like Jesus, and we will see!
Killing oneself is the ultimate act of cowardice.

It takes courage to stand on ones own ground without the support of an entourage of like minded religious or political loonies.
