One point to make is that the reason the First Nations are more racially homogeneous than the English and French Canadian communities, is because of imperialist policies that forced immigrants and even the First Nations themselves to assimilate to the colonial groups.

Who cares why it is the way it is. One could easily justify apartheid if one wanted to. This is the 21st century....time to move on.

So it's only natural that the colonial communities have become more cosmopolitan than the subjected peoples. To then turn around and declare them as racist because they failed to assimilate other groups into their communities is ignoring the history of how the English and French communities became so cosmopolitan in the first place.

Wrong!

They aren't racist because of what they did or didn't do in the past. That would be like saying that southerners are all racists because of slavery. They are racists because of their current beliefs. Until anybody and everybody, regardless of background heritage, is able to become an equal member of any given "aboriginal community" or "nation" they are racists...period. If Canada decided that you had to be a wasp in order to be equal in law within Canada then Canada would be racist.

It may not be written, but it is the way things are. With aboriginals making up 75% of our prison population, the law is stacked against them (just as the laws are stacked against the African Americans in southern states) even if the Charter says otherwise.

No it's not. The law is the law. The social structure may be stacked against them. We need to change that. That doesn't mean we take on your racist attitudes to do it though. It means we need to be inclusive not exclusive like you would have it. Your way has been tried repeatedly and has failed repeatedly. It's time for fresh approaches. Old thinkers need to be pushed out of the way.

Did you know you do not have to be a First Nation to be a member of the First Peoples National Party of Canada? It might also interest you to know that it is not the First Nations but the Federal Government that decides who is a status Indian. So the racism is not on the FN side of the fence.

The original intent of this thread was to give bear something to do....he was whining that he was bored, I gave him something to argue about.:lol:
Oh ........ so can the Natives of the Americas trade between themselves without all government restrictions applying? I don't know but that would solve their money woes lol. Every reservation would become an instant jackpot for the residents and a cheap, cheap vacation for Canadian citizens.

Little bored is he, must have cheated on reading all those pdf court documents?

Not really. About 20 years ago one of the bands up the coast was selling status cards for $30000. Can't remember the whole deal but basically you got adopted by the band and became a band member which got you a status card. May not have been legal but it worked and I never heard of anyone that bought their card having it revoked by the government. But then I doubt that anyone in Ottawa could find the west coast even with a map, unless they were looking to steal something.

Before the civil war they believed in the right for some people to have others in bondage. How well did they take being put into bondage? I would assume not all that well.

Like that matters to anybody lol
The correct answer would be something like 'no , such and such a law prohibits anything entering a reservation that is not marketed in the 'host country'.

You really do have problems with staying with the original subject don't you.
I don't know who to feel more sorry for, you or bear in that you are actually seeking a conversation with him or for bear in that it is you doing the seeking. Both are quite repulsive thoughts actually. GFY

How many people today were alive during the civil war?

Bondage can be as simple as a debt of money. That makes the question the same, would the lenders view that form of bondage any different if they suddenly became a borrower, in bondage to a debt that must be paid.

Seems like suicides increased at the start of the great depression of '29.

Slavery is not dead it seems, the way of 'being owned' has changed a tad though. There are certainly 'have'" and have not" classes in every country.
Now you just get a number and not a collar.

What do you do when your own country sells you into bondage to the world bank or whoever is to blame for something called 'national debt', that is one thing all nations have in common. The fact that they all accept it as 'the way it is and the way it will stay' is the truly scary part of the whole thing.

You should see it from this side dude!

I asked my Grandfather something a kin to that, years ago. Well actually I asked him why we didn't just slaughter the lot of ya, as you poured over the sides of the ships. He just told me that we would have missed out on so much.

Perhaps you could just throw a couple life preservers, then we could at least tread water while you swim.

payback time again on Oct 24th, 2009
I don't know who the cowardly dumbass is that gave me a red rep for that post, but they need to grow up and get a life.

Is that 10 or 20 based on the value of things back when the instigation of acts that would require an treaty (written and presented sole;y by the victors)?
A rough estimate would increase that amount by about 3,000% plus a hourly rental fee until the eviction notice arrives through their own court system. The rightful owners might agree to tirning that 'old land' over to the tourists, mainly you and every other foreigner.

Now for the rest of you, yes or no answer, could a native person get permission to import Bolivian tea to be used on just Reservations. Even if membership to the tea hopuse came with a 'special permit' that gave up retaliatory actions should somebody kill you intentionally while on said lands. That sort of stuff. Rule #1, when starting a business the first things you do is hire a Lawyer and get lots of insurance.

Did anybody ever say scam right from the get-go? Hardware is should be wher the first funds go, maybe even for 3yrs or so. However there is a way to play by their rules and still get done what you want. That is add Bolivian tea (very mild cocaine that will keep the 'patron$ awake' to the list of carnal pleasures you can only get on 'the REZ HOT L'. lol

Can Native people insist on that right? Canadian reservations would be portal to 'hot houses' where products not available to the 'general public' would be available to the residents at wiil and they have the option to sell to 'outsiders' if it is consumned while on their land. Enter with nothing, leave with nothing. Vacations by Canadians takes place in, wait for it (CP), Canada. No doubt they could also arrange some unique tours should somebody with the actual means to distant travel want to catch the latest in zip-lines (ie). The 47 channels of pure sound are also part of the 'immersion package', poison arrows have been repolaced by a menu wher you choose your own poison.

I guess freedom 55 is really a complete collapse in the reality of the ways of now and forever via 'the ones with the most guns (literally).

In reply to the OP, if they want to keep it in 'their courts' cor 3 centuries the 30 centuries is not out of the question. That is the reason Canada cannot expose herself to international standards of human rights abuses. The very name 'reservation' is proof that we do practice that and have no intentions of giving up what we insist certain ather countries give up' as proof of their humanity.

So promote their own system to your advantage, if you can't do that, well looks like more of the same-old-same-old unfortunately because complete genocide is the intended end of the matter.
Oh brother, stop trying to help. You like many other pro Native people are blessed with the inexplicable plight of dumb.

I think it was pretty dishonorable to suggest treaties to begin with, and then when it suited their advantage, gov'ts broke them. (Not all governments and not all treaties, but enough to darken the honor of the colonists and descendants). Might as well have just said, "F**k you, savage, we'll do as we please" to begin with.

No it's not. The law is the law. The social structure may be stacked against them. We need to change that. That doesn't mean we take on your racist attitudes to do it though. Do you think this is the first time I've argued about Treaties? I have over a hundred Treaty documents on disc here in my office. Complete with SCoC interpretations. As well as CLS notes.

I've been arguing it for years. First I was a militant Warrior, blamed whitey for everything, then I grew up and realised that my own people are as much to blame.

Like that matters to anybody lol
