Nobel Prizes aren't just given to Presidents. His campaign lasted two years and the committee as I understand it is awarding him based on the new hope he has created globally. He could've received this if he wasn't elected.

If he wasn't elected President, then all the good hope and rainbows would not have become part of a changing world image of America ELEVEN DAYS BEFORE the nomination.

"To be fair, if Bush had won the Nobel Prize, the reaction would have been similar."

What is the population of Iraq? 30, 40 million?

Bush liberated them from the terror of Saddam Hussain. More deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than Obama.

Reagan's actions and his firm dealing with the would be dictator, - who realized that there was no use, crappeed his pants and politically surrendered, - Gorbachev, liberated hundreds of millions in the former Soviet Union and former Communist satellite countries.

Perfect illustration how cheap and meaningless this formerly prestigious award has become:

Achieving freedom for millions: Go To Hell!
Achieving nothing, but be a good teleprompyrt reader: Nobel Peace Prize.

Normally, the Nobel prizes are given to people who have accomplished something, not people who want to accomplish something.

That's the difference.

Normally, but not always. There have been instances in the past when the committee liked the work someone was doing, they liked the direction they were going and awarded the Nobel Prize to carry on with the good work.

"No I am not, I was just listening to CNN, they said that there have been ten years so far when no peace award was given."

Go ahead and believe CNN at your own peril.

There were 19 - NINETEEN - years when the Nobel Peace prize was not awarded, but the prize money was put back in the pot, in full or in part.

For your information and CNN's these are the years:

1914, 1915, 1916, 1923, 1924, 1928, 1932, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1948, 1955, 1956, 1966, 1967 and 1972.

The very fact that the Nobel Peace Prize Committe could not come up with a deserving winner 19 times, speaks volumes of their credibility.

"And hatred? Of course it is hatred, what else can it be?"

Decency? Logic? Common sense? Fairness?

Just to name a few.

Not when it comes to Obama, YJ. The Republican base just cannot stand the thought of a black in the White House. That is why they subscribe to the birther conspiracy, they don’t want to wait until 2012 to try to get him out, they want him out of office today.

There is no decency, common sense, logic when it comes to Republican base; it is hatred, pure and simple.

Incidentally, it is the same hatred that caused them to impeach Clinton on purely partisan, political basis for having sex with his intern (when all the time their own idol, their own icon, Gingrich was doing exactly the same thing).

Seems like the sickness of "Affirmative Action" afflicted the Nobel Peace Prize Committee.

You mean because a black got the Nobel Prize? Of course, when a black gets a Nobel Prize, it has to be affirmative action, right? I assume when a white gets it, it is purely on merit (unless that white is Gore or Carter).

All this is pure whining (as Mike Huckabee put it), nothing more.

Seeing how the bar for this once prestigious award has been lowered by giving it to the likes of Arafat, Carter and Gore, who, in his right mind nominate anyone who is not a socialist, semi-Communist, anti-American, knowing that the chances of winning are exactly NIL?

Good chance that that nobody else was nominated. Good chance that not even Obama was nominated.

There were more than 230 nominations YJ. It was a huge field, and Obama won it hands down, unanimously (much as you may not like the fact).

I don’t know YJ; to me it is a sign that the committee is very choosy, very picky when it comes to awarding the Nobel Prize. They won’t award it just to anybody. If there isn’t a deserving candidate, they would rather not award it at all than award it to some undeserving person.

"There is no decency, common sense, logic when it comes to Republican base; it is hatred, pure and simple."

Just as there was no decency, common sense or logic among Democrats about George W. Bush, from the time he announced for Presidency, thru the campaigns when he trashed both Gore and Kerry in debates, the forged documents, the vicious attacks on his Texan accent (in liberal circles equated to idiocy), the accusations of lying when Democrats said exactly the same things as he, the name-calling by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi etc., etc.

Too bad he was white. He did not enjoy the immunity from criticism as this pretender does.

Get your foot out of your mouth. or start thinking for a change.

Did you hear me complain about Nelson Mandela (jointly) receiving the Prize?
Did you hear me complain about Desmond Tutu receiving the Prize?
Or Martin Luther King Jr.?

As a conservative I believe in earning your accolades on merit. The ones I quoted more than deserved theirs.

Obama achieved absolutely NOTHING to steal his. Affirmative action, pure and simple.

"And a song for you and all my cousins."

I have absolutely no idea what your garbage means. What I could gather from the images, it is an anthem to the Emperor.

Listen: I am far too young to have EVER lived in the Austria-Hungarian Empire, much less, remembering or missing it.

And an anthem to the Emperor is no more disgusting and demeaning than the "God Save the Queen".

Don’t’ change the subject, YJ. We are discussing here the Nobel Prize won by Obama, remember? We are not discussing here what a great guy Bush is. If you want to discuss that, start a separate thread and I will be happy to discuss that with you.
