EagleSmack, I notice you were careful not to answer my question, do you support the illegal immigration by Mexicans to USA? And I suspect for good reason. You don’t and that makes you a racist by your own definition.

Why would not supporting illegal immigration be racist?

That is what EagleSmack says, Kreskin. He accused me of racism (though I suspect he doesn't support illegal immigration either) when I said that I am glad we don’t have an illegal immigration problem in Canada, let them (illegal Mexicans) bother the Americans. That is how the whole discussion about racism started.

What is all this being against illegal immigration means your a racist. Being against illegal immigration means that you just want a accounting of just who is coming into your country. The current immigration system we have is draining our economy and resources.

"There was a recent case where the New Zealand government gave permission to an Englishman to immigrate to New Zealand for employment but the New Zealand government denied permission to his wife to immigrate because they said she was too heavy and would become a burden on the health care system. New Zealand is a very liberal and socialist country, but it seems to have a sense of fiscal survival.
In California, people who enter our country illegally get heart transplants and liver transplants at the expense of the citizens of the state, and in some cases, this can result in the death of an American citizen who cannot get a donor organ."

These are just two examples of where immigration programs have gone wrong.

I quite agree ironsides, you people have a horrendous problem of illegal immigration and your country should do something about it. I am glad we don’t have such a problem (or nowhere to the extent that you have).

When I said this, EagleSmack accused me of being a racist. That is how the whole discussion started.

Personally I am glad that there is the whole big country of USA between Canada and Mexico, so that Mexicans don’t bother us.

Incidentally, I think the New Zealand government was justified. The fact that a man or a woman gets immigration does not mean that all the family members automatically get it. They have a very good chance of getting it, all they have to prove that they are in good health and don’t have a criminal record. But immigration to the family is not guaranteed.

I notice you quote when it's strategic to your case. To be against ILLEGAL activity is racist? I suggest you put down the expensive bottle and unwarp that feeble little mind of yours.

It was the mans wife, no immigration policy should be that discriminatory. Lets not forget, he might also have had children. I think his immediate family should have been allowed to immigrate, or totally banned. But not picked apart.

I believe the US should figure out a way to first treat the illegal immigrant but recover the cost from the Mexican government or put a tariff on Mexican goods. Even a surcharge on currency trading. That way they do the right humanitarian thing by providing emergency care but send a message that it isn't a freebie.

This just came over Yahoo.

Look what Canada is doing over a traffic DUI violation.

Yahoo!

I know he committed a serious violation of traffic laws, but he is not applying for a drivers license.

Ironsides, I think dependents in most countries have to satisfy the condition of good health before they can be admitted to the country. E.g. if one of the children is feeble minded, is an imbecile (with very low IQ), or say has Down’s syndrome, I seriously doubt that the dependent would be admitted. I assume the same would apply to USA, Canada etc. The woman clearly failed the test; the New Zealand government thought she was too much of a risk, it would cost too much to the health care system.

As to picking apart the family, I don’t think they were doing that. The family always had the option of staying in Britain, nobody was forcing them apart.

Kreskin, I am afraid now it is too late, the damage is done. Even if by some miracle they can stop the flow of illegal immigrants completely, currently there are more than 10 million illegals in the country.

The time to do something was several decades ago, when the problem first manifested itself. I don’t see what they can realistically do now, but they must do something. Or the flow will continue.

Perhaps building a wall along the Mexican border may be the answer. If the Chinese can build a wall several thousand miles long thousands of years ago, surely Americans can to it with today’s technology.

SirJosephPorter, African-Americans are about 12% of the population. Roughly a bit less than 4 million people.

Yukon Jack, I noticed this little gem of yours just now and felt I had to respond. Strange math, that. 12% of 300 million is 4 million? 12% makes it 36 million blacks in USA.

I think Hispanics are more than that. And Hispanics are a growing minority. That is why the Republican policy of pandering to whites and ignoring the minorities worked all these years, but it does face problems going forwards. In a few years USA will be more than 50% non white. Ignoring the minorities will come at a cost for Republicans.

What they need to do is stop playing politics and come up with a bi-partisan resolution behind closed doors.

SirJosephPorter, blind as a bat you may be to facts, I must congratulate you: You have an unfailing eye for spotting a missing comma (as you gloated before) and/or a missing numeral zero. Pretending that it is not a keying error on the part of the poster, be it me, or anyone else, is a sure sign of petty small-mindedness.

You ignored my facts in the same post, which pointed out that the Republicans appreciate African-Americans far more than Democrats do.

Witness the latest Democratic debacle: The (half)Black President is trying his best to squash the gubernatorial aspirations of a HANDICAPPED black person, who happens to be the sitting Governor of New York State.
