Once upon a time, I was a "buy domestic" man. I supported friends and neighbours in owning their products - and paying the endless cost of parts. My first "Jap scrap" was a '77 Datsun 310 - bought used and cheap to get me through a return to college when driving trucks started to hurt. Since then, I've had better service from 2 Nissans, a Mazda and today's Toyota that I ever got from babying a Chevy. The old pick-up has its own fond spot - but the Toyota is the daily driver.
