i just came home with an inflatable bed, with built in pump, and it is quite high, not at floor level. We live in a two story house, and the temperature upstairs at bed time is unbrearable. Downstairs it
is actually chilly, so we will move down there to sleep. We have one big, long
sofa to sleep on, so now we have something for each of us.
(Upstairs we sleep 'together', just wanted to make that clear.);-);-);-)

I get the picture.........:lol::lol::lol:

Juan you cannot just have a heat pump. You must have a back up furnace like forced air electric or natural gas. It does get cold enough here to need the back up. Your heat pump will only heat to a certain warmth and if you don't have the required back up, you are going to freeze. Okay - you're going to be very cold. We live in a house that is less than 4 years old. We chose not to have the heat pump because of the noise they make. Hard on the whole neighbourhood for sleeping no matter which time of the year. Since that time they have come out with much better, much quieter models. It's very important to check on the noise level. Check for efficiency as well. Do a lot of looking around (anyone who is buying one)and be sure you hang in there with brand names that you know make a quality product. They are not cheap.

We already have electric baseboard heating. That is why we've taken so long to make a decision. We have to put in all the ductwork which adds a lot to the price. I worked in the field for many years as a mechanical designer so I know the pitfalls but thanks for the help.

It looks like our little heat wave is coming to an end. According to the five day forecast, we are returning to normal seasonal temperatures. We might even get some......Gasp....Rain..;-)

Yep, it's raining here in the East Boundary this morning but nice and warm. We need the rain here as we only get 17" annually.

We would be happy with a few days of rain as well. We normally get more than 17" of rain but it has been sunny and warm for a month and everything is dry. Generally it has been a great Spring. We have no complaints.

Yep, you need a little more than 17" on the coast to compensate for the drying effect of the wind down there. I know when I worked on the west coast of Vancouver Island, after the bush was thoroughly drenched it only took about 8 or 9 warm days to shoot the fire hazard back up to extreme.

In Nanaimo we like hot and sunny weather but we have to get it in the next couple months. In the Fall we often have biblical rain....Forty days and forty nights...Sometimes twice. Global warming should be more equally spread around...;-)

It can be hot, rainy, foggy, stormy...depends on the weather :D

Seriously though, July is the best month. Typically the lowest rainfall, and equal with August for temperature. July is also early in the storm season, so you shouldn't have to worry about hurricanes or anything. Just keep an eye on the weather in Halifax whenever you look up your own.

Archie Johnstone is starting to ring a bell (if he's still alive)
I just saw this. I guess he is very much alive or at least his company is. They did all the plumbing in the sub-div I live in. They came twice to repair my hot water tank and both times I refused to pay. He had to replace 3 furnaces in the area and had we been on it and realized we had a problem - he would have had to replace ours too. It's the last plumbing company in town I would deal with. My son is a builder and I make sure that they do not use his company. One of our new neighbours apparently used to be a builder. Some of the first words he said to my husband were - the plumber should have been fired!8O

It's been extremely hot here, which makes it even harder to hide my lust for shirtless construction guys working on the road behind my house. There's like 30 of them, it's not fair.

That nice warm weather we had kind of did a disappearing act. I've actually been kind of chilly the past two nights and feeling like I almost need my duvet back on the bed. The sun is coming out as I write this and we do have the promise of some nice warm weather coming up. It's supposed to go down to 9 over night. That's a daytime low in the winter!!;-)

Sounds like Archie (the man) has retired, his reputation was good years ago, but I'm talking at least 12 years, maybe more.
