lol
Reality is something I bump into frequently and have for the past 55 years.

Congratulations. I didn't mean it in a derogatory way. I meant it in a "this is the $hit we're in" way.

Some of you guys around here need to stop waving your occupations/experience around so much. No offense but it's just f-ing annoying.

Thanks. I know it wasn't derogatory; hence the "lol" I added at the front of my comment.

Scuse the "f-" outta me. :D Assumptions about what I mean annoy me. But I know they will continue. It's a reality of life that some things just don't change. lol

Would you prefer it if people just made stuff up that they know nothing about? Lot of that going around too.

All I'm saying is that you don't need to throw around your medals for me to give you the benefit of the doubt. It just adds a 'talking-down-to-you' tone to everything they say--as I said, annoying.

Israel is a leader in turning sewage water in to drinking water - California is looking in to it if they are not already doing it. In Ontario - farm fresh chickens and eggs purchased at farm gate are illegal along with unpasteurized milk - Rules regarding Maple Syrup are covered by the Feds - Aldulteration of Maple syrup is a Federal offence punishable by prison terms - If there is a marketing board or a producer group you can bet that they will get a law passed to eliminate the little guy.

The next step is that you will only be able to buy Monsanto GM seeds. If you think your government is looking out for your best interests, you really don't know what is going on.

I think government regulations concerning maple syrup allow for mixing in 10% sugar water and they can still claim 100% pure. That is adulterating. White sugar is considered a poison in some circles.

Cliffy - try and slip some white sugar in a batch of maple syrup and give it to the CFIA - They use a spectrographic analysis that will find it. I know of one producer that got in to doo-doo because he bought maple syrup from the local mennonites who put a layer of corn syrup on top of the syrup in drums to keep it from turning bad. The CFIA found the minute concentrations and if it were not for impeccable records he would have been off to jail and had his family business destroyed. They do not fool around.

I'm glad they are so diligent but are they now allowed to put the corn syrup on top as a preservative or do they need to omit it? Since you are telling Cliff to try it, I assume you are saying it's a no no.

Oh, the fear. My god, the government is trying to protect us from people who sell ****-covered eggs and vegetables. It must be a conspiracy, because I heard about it from my sister's father's brother's uncle's next-door-neighbor's son's coworker. He read it on a website somewhere, they're going to shoot anyone who dares to grow a pumpkin in their own yard and carve it. I know it's true, and denying it just makes you part of the evil conspiracy.

It is interesting the food standards that are out there for Canadian producers - There are standards for the number of bug parts that are allowed in Ketchup - relish and many other condiments. Until recent years it was a human hand ( with a glove on of course) that squished the pickles down in the jar before the lid went on. Vegetables were all sorted by ladies in white coats and latex gloves before processing. 20 years ago a bag of Hostess chips would not have those chips with the big dark spots - All sorted out by hand first. Machine vision technology has taken over many sorting and quality control aspects in processing food - These initiatives were not taken to improve food safety - it is strictly a labour cost issue. My concern is what happens when the sorting equipment breaks down or in these foreign lands with low labour costs what protects my food from whatever is on the glove that just wiped it's owner's nose.
