They probably suspended Avery so that Phaneuf or Iginla wouldn't be charged with assault after they crushed him during the game.;-)

Avery is such a tool. A shame that he is Canadian.

Yeah, I think you're right, as, if the nhl hadn't stepped in, and something
ugly happened, it would be on their heads.

I have a feeling that Avery will be getting his comeuppance sooner rather than later. Even his teammates are getting tired of his antics.

Well, looks like Washington lost again, 5-3 to Florida. Semin was not in the lineup yet again, and I think that his absence is really hurting them. He needs to get back soon or they are in for a world of hurt.

Philadelphia beat Tampa Bay in OT, 4-3. Ryan Malone was sent off for Goaltender Interference in OT, and Philadelphia capitalized. Malone is going to be getting it from his coach after the game, mark my words.

Tampa Bay sucks this year, and I knew they would. All they got were front-line players, and their defense was pathetic. Plus, getting all these players is no guarantee that will work. Look at the Yankees in baseball. Talent alone won't win it. You need chemistry to work as a team. Tampa Bay lacks that chemistry.

San Jose won another game, have tied nhl record for points in first 25 games of
a season, they beat toronto

calgary lost, so both calgary and minnesota failed to pass vancouver for north
west division lead.

I think Turco was the only reason Calgary didn't win the game. He made a lot of good saves. The third goal was an empty-netter, so it was basically 2-1 until the end. Toronto ran into the monster known as San Jose. They are scary good right now. I look at someone playing Detroit and I see that game going either way. I see a team going against San Jose, and I see San Jose winning. Wow!8O

Montreal held on and beat Atlanto 5-4, and in a game that probably no one here really cares about, Phoenix beat Los Angeles 4-2.;-)

Montreal was trouncing atlanta 3-0, then all of a sudden it was 3-3, then
montreal put them away near the end.
That L.A. team lost again, definitely something wrong there, they have the
talent, maybe another coaching change?

I think Montreal got a little lackidaisle with the lead, and it almost cost them. I don't think they have what it takes to win the Cup.

No, they still seem to by lacking something, but whatever that something is,
san jose has 'it'., at least right now, after trade deadline, story could change,
as the whole league ramps up, and everyone is much more intense.

That could be, but San Jose has the advantage of playing as a "gelled" team from the get-go.

Look at Detroit for example. They picked up a new player and they are now worse off than they were last year(even though Hossa is playing well and is a good player).

Detroit will be fine, they are still the best 'puck possession' team in the nhl, but
they need a little more grit, and i'm not sure about their goaltending, it held
up last year, but not sure if he can do it again.

I'm not saying Detroit won't make the playoffs, as they will, it's just that I don't think they will win the Cup this year.

And you are correct about their goaltending. Conklin and Osgood are not names to be feared. Conklin has been pulled a couple of times recently, and Osgood is average at best.

It's almost impossible to win the cup two consecutive times, but can be done,
everything has to go perfect, as with any other team. Injuries, 'who knows' who
will be hurt and when. And the team who won is the prime target, everyone
is after them, pretty hard to get past that.
Pittsburg is starting to roll now.

Yes they are. Crosby is a goal-scoring machine right now. The only issue they have is goaltending right now. Fleury is hurt and the one they are using right now has been hot and cold.

The days of the Cup dynasty are over. There are too many teams which bog things down. They could stand to lose some teams and I think the NHL would be better for it.

Well, it looks like Avery's time with Dallas is over for good. From the sounds of it they are planning on moving on, and what that means for Avery is anyone's guess. One thing is for sure, he won't be playing for Dallas again.

Yeah, drop about four teams in the south, and add two to canada, that would
do it.

No, he won't be returning there, after all the comments made about him from
dallas players/management/coach, it's obvious they want to move on without
him.
Brett Hull was so foolish to insist on signing him to a 4 yr. 15 mil. contract, and
apparantly he was very alone in the idea, as he pushed to get him, against all
of his co workers. So, now there is rumour his job is in jeopardy, I wonder.
They should have signed him to a one year contract, and then see how he
behaves himself.
can't imagine any teams wanting him, but, you never know, stranger things
have happened, (i think).

Hull has also been quite lax on the duties he is supposed to be performing with his position(scouting, that sort of thing). I imagine we will see in the next couple of weeks whether or not he is "asked" to step down.

It looks like Pogge is going to get some playing time now, as Toskala is dealing with a sore groin(what is it with goalies and their hurt groins this year?8O). I hope he's ready, as Joseph is NOT a #1 goalie anymore.

Not sure what's happening with hull, as they announced at one time, that he was relieved of his duties as co-general manager, then they announced that he
was still co gen. mgr., and yes, he isn't doing his job, and seems to be skating
on thin ice right now, he never was an energetic player, just an opportunist,
took him a long time to get it together to play at nhl level, he was too lazy.
He probably performs his upstairs duties the same.

The NHL entree draft is on TV tomorrow 4:00 pacific time.
All of the junior players who are elegible for the NHL, and who have
some status on the list, will be present, along with their families, it is
nice to see the excitement when their name is called. They have played
and practiced for many years to arrive at this point in their lives, and it is
a life changing experience for them.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF THEM
