Since the cons seem willing to pull my money away from the political party I voted for I want it back so I can donate it myself.

Interesting how they seem willing to change the democratic process without a mandate and use the oney for something it wasn't intended for. Perhaps if they chose to make it effective after the next election instead of breaking the contract with voters and politcal parties, it would make more sense and wouldn't be a political snowball in a time when Harper said their needs to be unity, something that came out of the throne speech....aka the document of lies.

So, I'll be waiting for my check Jim.

The rebate will come when the Libs return all the millions from the Adscam fraud.

You got it back.
Flaherty scrapped it.
Thus the money stays in general revenue's.
It will be transferred back to your home Province under the Provincial funding transfers.
If you actually want the cash in hand you need to vote for a tax cut.

Bill Casey can keep my $1.95, and for what it's worth I doubt that there will be majority of yea votes for 0.0001% of the Government's program spending.

It's reported now that the initiative will be dropped from the ways and means motion, and voted on at a later date.

So the economy goes in the tank, but all the Libs and the NDP ers want to do is make sure that political parties and MPs are all looked after.

Despite what they say, their motivations are showing.

How amazing can that be?

I don't wait for any votes from Ottawa. The only thing I wait for from Ottawa is my student loan papers, which I just got this week, with one week of classes left in the fall semester.

This is all pretty weird and interesting. Sounds like Harper has removed the $1.95 slush
money thing from the confidence vote for Monday Dec. 1st/08. Interesting Chess move.
Also removed are the MP salary caps and expense account caps, etc...

Now if the Liberal party happens to have 56 MP's out having a smoke during this vote, it'll
quickly become clear that all the posturing now has ZERO to do with any economic stimulus
plan (or lack of one). Maybe Harper really does have a secret agenda, and that's to expose
his Party and all the others to the light of day and the Publics examination.

If the Government is toppled Monday (12/01/08), then seven weeks later (37 or 39 days?)
will drop a Canadian Federal Election almost to the day that Obama takes the reins of Power
for the USA. Isn't that a strange coincidence, eh? What ever is left or whomever takes power
in Canada, will still end up waiting to see what the Americans are doing before they have to
commit to Auto $$$ Bail-Outs and such...

What's also funny about the $1.95 figure, is that it originally was supposed to be $1.50, but Chretien had it increased (he was PM at the time) so that the Liberal Party would break even under the change.

In other words, it's just plan by the Liberal Party, to have the taxpayers INVOLUNTARILY pay for the party.

Believe it or not, this money for parties partially influenced my vote this election. I was going to vote for the local green candidate, not because of his party affiliation but because he was smarter than the other candidates. But when I found out that the government was fudning parties but not independent candidates, I became more hesitant to vote for a party member. In the end I handed a blank ballot mainly because I wasn't fuly satisfied even with that candidate, really just being the least worst option, but the fact that he had an unfair edge owing to being a member of a party whereas an independent candidate would get no government help might have influenced my vote, at least partially, too. If I vote for a candidate, I'm voting for him, not his blody party.

Yes yes, that's fine and dandy but the money is there and it was law under the last election so either give it to the party I voted for or give it back to me so I can.

Why are the cons stealing my money?

Unless I'm wrong, I think this is referring to money gained in any future election. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Yes, and this is the time the cons decided to play politics and btw offered no stimulous package at all....it almost seems as though they don't even believe there is a problem.

This is all a distraction from their inaction and has soured the new parliment when Harper himself called for unity in the throne speech.

.....and....I want my money back, you can't change the rules after the fact, that's a breach of contract, it's like buying a house and the seller coming back a year later and taking it back.

You're wrong, that is why they are using the figures the parties would get from the last election.

The Tories don't even have a mandate to change the political process and it's the first thing they do in the new parliment....bunch of bully jerk offs, something only cowards do.

Typical of cons.

No I didn't, the money has been taken away and applied to either the surplus or deficit. The money was, prior to the elction, used for the political parties and after the process was changed thereby taking my donation away.

Farty should cut every Canadian a check for 1.95 so they can give it to the party they though they were instead of some Tory spending plan.

I want my money back please.
