And to answer Cliffy and MHz at the same time.

Why not post the whole verse then everybody will know that the verse is about things that God accomplishes. No man or angel can ever change it, that is a domain that belongs only to God (God never un-creates He just moves it to a suitable location). Moral of the story, fear God because He can do things that we cannot do, ever.

Ec:3:14:
I know that,
whatsoever God doeth,
it shall be for ever:
nothing can be put to it,
nor any thing taken from it:
and God doeth it,
that men should fear before him.

Mass or motion can be added or taken away from energy almost at will and if there is enough energy present.

Dear Darkbeaver!

I am not a cosmologist or physicist. And my mathematics is waning a bit. But I remember enough of it from Grade Seven to attempt a Big-Bang analogy. So, bear with me and suppress your laughter. Confirmatory snickers are permitted.

This is a number line.

<______-3_______-2_________-1________0_______1_______2________3_______>

On it are all the real numbers. Think of every real number as a point. ∏ is there, and so is its opposite -∏. Of course, 14 billion, and its opposite (the coming deficit) -14 billion. My shoe size 10.5 and its opposite -10.5. It's beautifully symmetric isn't it? Gazillions of starry little numbers.

Now a thought movie! I haven't mastered animation on this forum.

Suppose your arms are very long. Infinite will do. Reach out left and right and place the palms of your hands against the arrow ends of the number line. Now start bringing them together. The negative numbers on the left of 0 and their positive opposites meet and poof, when -1 and +1 meet, zero! And when -100 and +100 meet, another poof and another zero. Keep doing this until your palms meet. Every negative point has zeroed out its positive mate, and all you have between your hands is 0, ziltch, nada! A singularity, sweet nothing! You were Captain Crunch!

Now play this movie backwards! From singularity to number line. From zero to zero sum. A Big Bang.

Apologies to all with more than my Grade Seven mathematics!

You cousin,
Spade

it works for a line but does it work for a ball? the universe has always been steady, sort of

Nope, it's expanding! The movie rolls on. The ball isn't over! The hands of God have not slowed its expansion, stopped it, or have begun to come together.

The Fingers of God

Without the redshift-equals-distance distortion, a new picture of galaxy clusters and the universe itself is revealed. The age of the universe is no longer known, because we no longer have a constant expansion to backtrack to a bang. The size is also unknown. Most quasars and some galaxies that we see are closer than we thought they were, because they have been distorted by the Fingers of God. But we have no idea how far the universe stretches beyond our telescopes' limits. We have moved from what has been called "the end of science", where everything has basically been discovered, to "the beginning of a new universe" where almost everything is unexplored territory. What an exciting prospect for science in the 21st century.

Spade,
But reality is not a flat line, it is spherical. I postulated once that if I could see infinity through a telescope and you could see infinity through a microscope, we would find ourselves looking at each other.
With infinity, nothing ever ends, not even physics.
