Yes he can, and, yes he did, WOW, very exciting game, vancouver played super in first two
> periods, game was more even in the last period, but Luongo was not going to give an inch.
> He was awsome.

> Kesler had a great game, so did Johnson, and the Sedins as well, they have played really
> good in the last four games, along with Raymond, who is as fast as lightening.

> Our defense is so solid, and very hard to penetrate, most chances had to come from the
> outside, luckily they didn't get any lucky bounces.

> GO CANUCKS GO

> And, oh, by the way, canucks are in first place in their division for the time being.
> Calgary lost tonight too, were beaten by Columbus.

Him getting the first star was a no-brainer! Wow! He is AMAZING right now. I would say that even if I didn't have him in my pool. It is hard enough to get a single shutout, and it is very rare to get two in a row. But to get three in a row? That is awe-inspiring.

I heard Brunette kind of ran him over. Was it a dirty hit and can he expect to be punished by the league? Thankfully Luongo wasn't hurt.

No, it wasn't all that bad, just clipped him on the side of his head, Luongo said it got a nerve
that caused pain for a few seconds, then he was fine. He shrugged it off as well.

One thing I have noticed in the last three or four games, is that Vancouver is turning the puck over a lot less. The other thing is that their transition game is much better. If Luongo gets five shut-outs in a row, he might even get a mention in the Hockey News.....But don't count on it....;-)

Not purposely scratch. The last time the hockey press looked at Luongo, they put him in about fifth place. It is my opinion that Luongo is, if not the best goaltender in the league, he is one of the two best goaltenders in the league with maybe Martin Brodeur in second...

That's right Juan, but he hasn't played that way until recently, and if he keeps this up,
he will be noticed that's for sure.
There has been a few games, where the team played pretty good, but he didn't make
those 'couple' of stops that would have saved the win, now he is.
And, it just makes sense to me that by november, teams should be smoothing out, and
coming together, and the ones who are struggling will continue to struggle, but a good
team will continue to improve, and I see that with the canucks now.
Last nights game with minnesota was a 'big' one, as minny has been playing really good,
very similar to us, just one point ahead going into last nights game, so the win was a
valuable one, tells us where we stand, and now we have to keep getting better.
I think the twins have come up a notch in the last four games, look tougher and more
determined, and they look good to me, I don't want them to go anywhere if they are going
to play like they have recently, as we won't replace them with anyone better.
Raymond looks good with them too, although I think when Dimitra comes back he will be
with him, as we need another solid line, and those two can shine together, hopefully, if
Dimitra gets it together, and raymond and he will score lots of points.
Kesler was awsome last night.

Don't forget how poor Luongo's record against Minnesota was previously. His past two games against them he has been a totally different goalie. Perhaps he is finally gone over that hump.

I think that Vineault has to make a big decision from here on, as to how many games Luongo
plays before he has a rest, and that will keep him in top form, and stop him from becoming
fatigued, and he can't depend on Luongo to help him with that decision because Luongo wants
to play every game, and that is a good attitude, but someone has to 'pace' him, for his own
good.
He tired out last year, but he also had personal stresses as well, and they are settled now, so
hopefully his wife doesn't get pregnant this season.;-)

Stupid Leafs.....keep this up and you won't get your draft picks.

This season is actually quite funny, they will make the palyoffs in a time they want to rebuild.

The Leafs were the better team that night. The Habs took too many penalties. That hit on Van Ryn sounded like it was pretty bad. I can't say if it was dirty or not as I did not see it. The concensus on TSN is pretty split. What is your opinion on the hit, Avro?

I think the six days off hurt the Habs more than anything.

He got 3 games and he's lucky that's all it was, I saw the hit, totally unecessary
to hit him that hard, pushed his face into the glass, broke his nose, cut his forhead,
now of course he has a concussion.
They can all they want about what the injured guy was about to do, doesn't make any
difference, he did nothing to cause what happened to him.

Luongo tops 'Three Stars'

Practice galleryTWO NEW FACES AND A NEW JERSEY

Two faces and two jerseys stood out at practice Monday afternoon as the Canucks hit the ice at GM Place. Pavol Demitra and Jannik Hansen joined the team for today’s skate in non-traditional baby blue jerseys. They participated in drills to prepare for Wednesday when the Colorado Avalanche make a visit to Vancouver.

“Probably the worst practice because there’s lots of skating at the end and for the first time,” said Demitra, following conditioning sprints on the ice at the end of practice. “It was a little bit hard but it was nice to be out there and get used to the speed and everything. I’m feeling not bad but obviously, you feel it a little bit but it’s good. I’m going to see how it’s feeling tomorrow and the next day.”

“Of course, it’s good getting back skating with the team and really pushing it a little more and see how it felt,” said Hansen. “So far no problems so it’s just a matter of seeing of it’s good later today and hopefully it’s back at it tomorrow again.”

Demitra’s missed nine games since sustaining a rib injury October 19 that was predicted to need 3-4 weeks recovery time. He has two goals and an assist in the six games before the injury and with the line juggling since he was in the lineup, he may find himself with new linemates upon his return.

In his first skate with the team in three weeks, Demitra avoided contact with any players and is still unsure if he’ll be ready for Wednesday.

“It’s tough to say right now. I’m just going to go practice by practice and push a little bit more but I was pushing hard today and feel good. We’ll see how it goes.”

Sidelined with a groin strain, Hansen’s missed four games but was clicking well with linemates, Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows prior to getting hurt.

Hansen appeared in 50 games last season, starting the season with a wrist injury and missing part of the season with a concussion, he’s familiar with watching from the sidelines but wants to be careful that he won’t soon return to the press box.

“I missed a lot of games last year and it’s never fun sitting out but with this injury, it’s touch and feel,” he said. “It’s not a two-week or if you break a bone, it’s more a matter of finding the right feel and when you feel you’re ready. It’s hard for trainers to say, you’re ready to go, it’s more up to yourself and how you feel.”

“I don’t want to start over from scratch so it’s a matter of getting a feel for it and pushing it a little more everyday. It’s a fine balance and making sure that I too much that it makes it worse. Today was a good day and I tested it at the end with the bag skate so I’m happy.”
He has three goals, four assists, and is a plus-4 in his first 11 games. Hansen is ninth in scoring on the team and 11th amongst all rookies in the league and ranks in the top 10 in goals, assists, and plus-minus.

While both had good practices, neither are certain they’ll play Wednesday. They’ll have to wait to see how they feel in the morning and take in another skate to see what the verdict will be.

I was hoping that he would have gotten 5 games.

The game has gotten uglier recently. Fighting has gone down, but vicious hits from behind have gone up. Get rid of the stupid Instigator Penalty and things will improve.

That's right, I totally agree, and take a page out of the CFL, they have clamped down on the treatment of their
quarterbacks, big penalties and fines, lay down the law, but the NHL seems to be scared to do that, they are so
mamby pamby about 'worrying' about taking the entertainment value out of the game. Come on, watching players
get their heads slambed into the glass isn't entertainment, and punishing that behavior will not stop hitting, players
hit all the time, just DON'T hit like that. He has a split second to ease up slightly and keep his hit legal.
