You don't think you'd be different without the knowledge that Earth isn't the only planet in existence?
And why would you be different to any greater extent than simply not knowing that? I think I'm missing your point here. It's trivially true that knowing something makes you different than you'd be if you didn't know it. So what? In most cases the difference it makes is equally trivial. You've known for most of your life that there are nine solar planets, then Pluto got officially demoted last year and now there are only eight. What real difference does that make?

Did I say to a great extent?

Well, I don't know about you, but it caised me to research a bit and now I know more about the classification of celestial bodies (among other things) than I did before. I have no idea if I'll ever need the info for anything, but at least I'm not curious about it anymore.

From an astrological point of view, Pluto's demotion doen't make much of a difference.

The astrological view implies the idea that every single part of the universe has an effect on the rest. The question is whether or not we are capable of understanding these relationships.

We're getting there. Still lots unexplained. Which isn't to say that there's mysticism abounding, mind you.

Besides, S_ said, "
True or false?

The place and time where you were born has abolutely no influence whatsoever on your development..."
I said false. What if you were born in born in medieval England?

Well I guess the qualities of the time and place you live in will have a deep impact on what you are. Can we extend this influence to the whole universe?

I just took another quiz on that blog thing
What Kind of Intelligence Do You Have?Your Dominant Intelligence is Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence
You are naturally athletic and coordinated, good at making your mind and body work together.
Sports are fun and easy for you, especially those requiring good hand - eye coordination.
There's also a good chance you're a great dancer, or good at expressing yourself through body language.
You learn best by doing, and you feel like you've always got to be moving (even if it's just your hands).

You would make a good athlete, physical education teaches, dancer, actor, firefighter, or artisan.
I thought about going into kinesiology for a while but firefighting sounded like more of a thrill.

Let me ask the question otherwise.

To what extend are we influenced by our environment?

Do the great structures of the universe influence our own inner structures?

I think back a bit I said something like some things have a great effect while other events have a trivial effect.
The second question is one I have no answer for. Perhaps someone else might have one.

You Are A Hornbeam Tree
You are a reserved person, looking in from the outside.
Naturally attractive, you take good care of your looks.
You are not egoistic, and you make life as comfortable as possible.
You look for kindness in others - though you are seldom happy with yourself.
A bit mistrusting and unsure, you dream of being swept away by someone unusual.
In China ...I'm a rabbit .

I think Dexter was on to it a little ways back. It appears being born in a certain month determines what type of tree you are, or something to that effect. So the question is, how different would you be if you were born on February 28 as opposed to March 3 or something like that. How does that affect the personalities as listed by this website? For that matter how different can a person really be as a result of an extra 3-4 days in the womb? I mean it's obvious if we increase the difference, like a very premature baby compared to a late baby.

This is cool--here are my results:

You Are An Elm Tree
You are easygoing and a pleasure to be around.
Good looking, you have a pleasant shape and tasteful clothes.
You demand little in others, but you tend not to forgive their mistakes.
Dominant, you like to lead and enjoy making decisions for others.
Overall, you are cheerful, honest, noble, generous, and funny.

I really don't know much on celtic astrology but I do have a surprisingly good knowledge of traditional astrology. The problem with discussing this subject is that too often, astrology is reduced to a caricature of what it really is or at least what it should be; a symbolic language used to help us understand ourselves and our relationship to the greater structures of the universe.

The zodiac signs are but one aspect of astrology. Pop culture has swollen their importance (zodiac signs) to a ridiculous extent. While they are a vital part of the symbolical language, they cannot be dissociated from the whole of astrological methods and techniques.

That being said, the onus is certainly on astrology fans to prove its not a load of bull***, but an honest debate should at least consider astrology as a whole and not consider it for its caricatural use by pop culture.
