Yes that is the thoughtful thing to do, but coming on here and bringing god into this disaster,
asking him to help those who need it. Dex was right, where was he before the gun was fired.
Okay, okay.

I think it's appropriate to reserve criticism of one's beliefs when the solace and comfort available to the believer is perhaps the only relief to be found. The question in and of itself is however an entirely valid one.
If our cultures and our social institutions and our structures of civilization fail....as I believe they are failing ...right across the entire spectrum of the human condition...we need to evaluate these ideas concepts and notions with much greater energy...and in fact ask these kinds of questions.

All this is just too terrible. I can'tcan'tcan't understand why such things happen... Those poor students, and what their parents must be feeling right now....

may i respectfully suggest this might be a time to respect others beliefs, as it may give them some comfort?
I was pretty sure somebody would make that point after what I posted, though I'm a little surprised it was you, hermann. No doubt there are many parents thanking god that their children are not among the dead. What kind of sense does that make? God protected my child but not yours? BS. False comfort is no comfort, it's a delusion. God, if he has the attributes usually attributed to him, could have prevented this. Obviously he didn't, and any thoughtful believer has to wonder why he would allow such avoidable devastation and pain. You going to tell me this is part of some vast mysterious plan that's beyond human comprehension? I'll call BS on that too, and I'll also call god a useless and incompetent turdball for not preventing this.

You wonder why I'm an atheist? Nothing else makes sense to me.

Lightning hasn't struck me yet for offering such rude opinions about the deity. I don't think he's there.

Okay, okay.

god doesn't control our actions. He gave us "choice", so we choose what we do. You ask where was "God", he was there the whole time, with those who believe, and have faith in him and his son "Jesus". Ask yourself this question, Where was God when Jesus was Crucified? I think what you's are mistaken about, God doesn't make the world a perfect place, we as humans right from the creation of mankind, ruined that, by adam and eve eating the apple. By doing that "we" gave and brought upon ourselves "choice", and choice brought upon sin. Also satan has his presence in people, demons try to rule the world, how do you know this person who commited these shootings weren't demon possessed, i think you's misunderstand. As a christian, please do some re-search and open the book aka the Bible, before you ask those type of questions.
Let me get you started, "God" is only with those who "Believe" in Christ and accept him as their savior. I'm going to leave the rest up to you to find out for yourself.
Now i used to ask myself the same question, but doing that research, and understanding more about "us" and God, answered it.
*sorry off topic*

Agreed. But this is not the time. Asking that kind of question here will only cause pain and discomfort.
