In the real world that's called bankrupt...

The equalization payment should help out a bit.

Ontario’s diminishing status is partially a result of the demise of its manufacturing industry, says Courchene. The decline is also a relative one, however.

Compared to the soaring economies in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, all resource-rich provinces whose oil and gas are fuelling growth in India and China — Ontario is looking increasingly impoverished.

I'm pretty sure that all of Canada helped create what is now Alberta, since 1905. I don't recall reading that Alberta appeared, fully formed and populated, last week.[/I]

I don't see how that has anything to do with it...all provinces except for the original 4 ...

It seems that some people believe that Alberta shouldn't help out the rest of Canada, but it seems to me that's how Alberta became Alberta - Canada made it so. It's a bit silly to run around complaining about equalization, when the whole Province was enabled and created by the rest of Canada in the first place.

Unless it miraculously appeared, fully formed, last week, as some seem to be trying to claim.

You are trying to use reason to reason with the unreasonable.

If everyone born in SK came home, AB and BC would be empty and left with the minorities that WhinyPuss and Droopy despise so much.

Ten...nobody is saying that ...but the west has been used and abused by ottawa for so long that its time for it to stop...besides we have more in common with Texas than the east anyway...

Perhaps Alberta should form a union with Quebec, you both seem to share the whole victim complex.

claim.
Alberta has never received transfer payments only demands from Ottawa to tax their resource.

Alberta does not believe in welfare handouts to those who chose to rely on welfare handouts as a way of life.
If these welfare provides were prepared to pull themselves away from their culture of entitlement, then Alberta would be willing to help them through some type of business arrangement where both would benefit.

Post 151...When Alberta is independent they will develop a steel industry and Hamilon is doomed...
Alberta has high grade iron or and some of the best coking coal and cheap energy....the only reason is doesn't have a steel industry is because ottawa didn't want Hamilton competetion...I learned that in grade six ....

Why hasn't Alberta developed it than? Is there a federal regulation that exists that prevents Alberta from doing so?

You're not very good at this, are you?

Can you show me how Alberta appeared, out of nothing, last week, fully populated and with a fully functioning economy and fully developed infrastructure?

I would explain it to you, but you obviously lack some basic intellect to be able to understand my explanation.
So perhaps you could undertake to redo your middle school eduction, and then I'll be in a better position to explain some basic province building concepts.
Until then, I'm afraid your just going to have walk around in dumbo state.

You are a liar. Prior to 2009

Ontario to receive $347M in equalization: Flaherty - Nfld. & Labrador - CBC News
"Ontario is the only province that has never received any payments under the 51-year-old equalization program."
