Not at all.

Harper has never been a "gun guy", he even voted FOR the Firearms Act on first reading when he was a Reform MP (and THEY could vote freely, remember?? sigh).

He promised to end the gun registry. He did so. I've been telling people ever since "That's ALL you are gonna get."

It is a heck of a lot better than the alternatives. And hopefully, we can make the gov't see the error of their ways in the idiotic classification system.

IMHO, there needs to be a complete overhaul of the system, and it should be made simple.

Prohibited: Firearms that can fire in Full automatic mode.

Restricted: Firearms less than 75 cm long.

Non-restricted: Anything else.

But....that makes WAY too much sense.
I am all for those who have hunting rifles ... the rest .... not so much.
This guy I know , he is a heavy gun nut and has many working military ones , even a 50 cal sniper ... He is so restricted on how he has to use them ... he has to notify the police to where he will be going to shoot them off and which weapons he brings... He did a video that had real weapons use in them ..... apparently it was a no no to do .... all weapons used in videos have to be replicas.

Ahhh yes....the 1800 people that are about to have 3 or 4 thousand dollars stolen from them by the gov't.....I think that would make it fairly important.

Not really.

Most of them will die soon and their children won't give a shirt.

I think I'd want to add something about magazine capacities, though I can't really fault your logic. But that's just way too simple for the bureaucratic mind, and that's really where the problem lies. As Mark Steyn pointed out in a video you posted elsewhere, the regulatory environment in this country is very complex, created and managed by an army of bureaucrats we not only can't vote out, we can't even find out who they are, and it makes no difference what party is in power, the regulatory environment carries on from sheer inertia if nothing else. The bureaucratic minds want lots of rules, that's what keeps them employed, and they're very good at protecting themselves and their turf. I've worked in the federal public service, mercifully briefly, and I can assure you all from direct personal experience that all the bad things you've ever heard about it are all true. Be grateful it's so inefficient, given an efficient organization with that much power, nobody's liberty or property would be safe.

And so now the RCMP, having rendered Swiss Arms rifles prohibited, have done the same with the CZ858 rifles. An estimated 8-10,000 of those are now prohibs, over and above the 1-2000 Swiss Arms carbines.

https://www.facebook.com/NFACANADA

Remember, all these rifles were previously approved by the RCMP lab, and so far there is no word of compensation.

Will they come for your semi-auto hunting rifle or shot-gun next? And if they don't do so under the CPC, will they they do it when the Liberals take power?

Gun Confiscation: Connecticut Tells "Unregistered" Gun Owners to Surrender Firearms

Connecticut Patriot Group Fights Back Against Confiscation Order: ‘We Are Armed… And Are Familiar With the Finer Points of Marksmanship’

^ Feb 28 11:04

Official CT State Police spokesman says that state police would participate in door to door gun confiscations

The State of Connecticut says that all citizens must register rifles and high capacity magazines, or be charged will a felony. As many as 100,000 people could face heavily armed police smashing down their doors and be charged with a felony.

Although civil war in the USA is considered out of the question by the terminally hopeful just such a conflict could start in the above mentioned state.

Sooo.....you think it is okay to steal valuables, as long as you only do it to old people.

That is about as positive a spin as I could put on that.

I think you need to reassess some of your values.

This is one cheap way to arm the troops since our federal Conservative government does not want to spend the money

Yet another retarded rule.

My bet is that a bunch of cops are going to be the proud owners of some nice expensive rifles for free. Just like what happened with the last handgun amnesty.

In the name of collective rights we are becoming more and more of a police state
all the time. The reason is we have traded liberty for security and when that is the
case we end up where we are heading We used to look at the world as a place
of promise now we view much of the world as a place to be suspicious of or fear,
We are becoming victims of the world we essentially created for ourselves.
We tried to include the whole world in our vision of liberty and so on even when the
many parts of the world and its societies were not ready for it.
It is unfortunate but we must live with the effects of our rhetoric.

On the UP side, this is about to get interesting.

There are two questions I have that are about to get answered:

1. Has the RCMP retain long gun registration data?? If owners of non-restricted rifles now deemed to be prohibited start getting letters, we know they have, in defiance of Parliament, and somebody needs to go to jail.

2. They know how many of these firearms crossed the border.....how many will be surrendered?? How deep does the urge to resist go in gun owners? I bet they will be lucky to get 60%........the others will be driven underground.
