"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."
I had forgotten about that. a bit vague. ;)
so that would suggest that it does not take place in the milky way and perhaps not in Andromeda as well. it also suggests that it takes place in the past which means that all of the movies are flashbacks. :)

In November 2000, Britain was rocked by the murder of 10-year-old Damilola Taylor by a boy of 12 and his 13-year-old brother in Peckham, south London.

Eight-year-old John Boyega and his sister Grace were some of the last people to be spotted on CCTV with Taylor while escorting him before parting when Taylor was attacked by a gang.

Now, Peckham-born Boyega stars in the new Star Wars film as Stormtrooper Finn.

Star of Star Wars was last to see Damilola Taylor alive: Murdered boy's father reveals Stormtrooper actor John Boyega was little lad seen in haunting CCTV moments before his son was stabbed

Damilola's father, Richard Taylor, has revealed actor John Boyega (right) and his sister Grace were the two children seen on CCTV (pictured middle) with Damilola (left) just moments before his death in November 2000. The youngsters grew up on the same tough estate in Peckham, south east London, and the siblings were the last people to see Damilola alive before he was attacked with a broken bottle. The Boyega family were close to Damilola and his parents, and Grace had looked out for him after he arrived in Britain. The schoolboy - who had only arrived in Britain from Nigeria three months previously - was found bleeding to death in a stairwell. Brothers Danny and Ricky Preddie, aged 12 and 13 at the time, were convicted of his manslaughter six years later.

Carrie Fisher responds to body shamers: 'Blow us'

LOS ANGELES - Carrie Fisher has responded to those criticizing her appearance in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and, as usual, she did not mince her words.
"Please stop debating about whether OR not I aged well," she tweeted. "Unfortunately it hurts all 3 of my feelings. My BODY hasn't aged as well as I have. Blow us."
She went on to emphasize that there is more to her than flesh and bone.
"My body is my brain bag, it hauls me around to those places and in front of faces where there's something to say or see," Fisher tweeted along with a photo of her canine sidekick, Gary Fisher.
Fisher also retweeted one of her followers who said, "Men don't age better than women, they're just allowed to age."
Earlier in her press tour for "Force Awakens," in which she plays General Leia Organa, she divulged that she was pressured to lose more than 35 pounds for the new film.
"They don't want to hire all of me - only about three-quarters!" Fisher said in an interview with Good Housekeeping. "Nothing changes, it's an appearance-driven thing. I'm in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up. They might as well say get younger, because that's how easy it is."
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been shattering box office records since bowing on Dec. 18, currently holding the title for fifth-highest domestic grosser ever. It has light-sped past $1 billion in global ticket sales.

EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - A New York college that went on lockdown over a report of a gun on campus says the weapon turned out to be a "Star Wars" toy light saber.
Students and staff members at Farmingdale State College were told to shelter in place Wednesday while police investigated a report that someone was assembling a rifle in a school parking lot.
College spokeswoman Kathryn Coley says the rifle was actually a toy light saber.
Farmingdale State is part of the State University of New York system. It has about 8,700 students.

Carrie Fisher's advice to 'Force Awakens' lead:
'I’ve told Daisy not to go through the crew like wildfire'
Actress dishes on playing Princess Leia again
By Steve Tilley, Postmedia Network

LONDON – Her husband is dead, her child is a mass murderer, a bunch of planets got blown up on her watch… things haven’t been easy lately for Princess Leia.
Luckily, Carrie Fisher doesn’t carry any of that badness around with her. At 59 years young, the woman who has been Leia for four decades is always a highlight at Star Wars fan conventions, because you never know what’s going to come out of her mouth. But you can be certain it will be hilarious, and likely a bit dirty.
During Sunday’s Carrie Fisher: The Princess Diaries panel at the final day of Star Wars Celebration Europe in London, Fisher entertained the audience with anecdotes, antics and her floppy-tongued French bulldog Gary Fisher, a frequent fixture at her side.
When asked what advice she gave to her young Star Wars: The Force Awakens co-star Daisy Ridley, “I’ve told Daisy not to go through the crew like wildfire,” said Fisher, to laughs – and a few gasps – from the audience. (“Not that I went through the crew like wildfire,” she added, eventually.)
When panel host Warwick Davis – who played Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi – asked Fisher about her iconic Star Wars hairstyles, she referred to her The Force Awakens up-do as “my baboon-*** hairstyle. First I had the hairy earphones, now I have the baboon ***.”
And as for Leia’s relationship with her estranged husband Han Solo prior to The Force Awakens, “Han and I have a very volatile relationship, which leads to space divorce,” Fisher said. “We had a child who turned out to be Hitler. You’d feel bad if your son did that, too.”
She’s referring to The Force Awakens’ big baddie Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver. “I did spank Adam when I first met him,” Fisher said. “He’s very tall, so I don’t think he was scared.”
Fisher didn’t dish on any Star Wars: Episode VIII details, although at one point she seemed to misunderstand a question about what happens to Leia between the original trilogy and The Force Awakens, and referred to “Han Solo’s funeral” – something that perhaps happens before (or even during) Episode VIII. (When asked if she takes a new lover in Episode VIII, Fisher quipped, “God, I hope so.”)
Despite her physical changes over the years, Fisher is still frequently recognized by fans, especially following last year’s release of The Force Awakens. “I don’t really look the same as when I was 25. I’m a little more melted, but now they know that, so they find me,” she said. “They want autographs and selfies and sexual favours.”
But there are downsides to being an older actress in youth-obsessed Hollywood. “I do not like looking at myself in giant size,” she said. High definition “is not friendly to the over-40s. It’s not made for that.”
And, naturally, one bold fan asked Fisher if she still wears the gold “slave Leia” bikini that launched million adolescent fantasies in Return of the Jedi.
“I’m wearing the bikini now,” she said “It’s been modified for older usage, but I am wearing it now.”
