Well.. There's the vast power exports from Ontario to the US right now.. Sure, Mr. Wynne is kinda paying the US customers to take that power, but they do qualify as exports.

uto parts would just be an extra bonus if only they had some mfg plants operating.... That reminds me, I should send a note to the PMO to write down 'build lots of mfg plants' on their to-do-list

The lack of manufacturing capacity is a death sentence for the entire western family of nations. A con game of glass beads and electronic gadgets cannot substitute, ever. Our inability to knit socks spells doom. All of that capacity and more must be restored. There is no alternative.

The primarys of oil and gas must be nationalized and run east west to avoid international fluctuations. In conjunction nationalism with strong isolationist policies. All international trade agreements must be voided.

The mantra that the low dollar makes Canadian economy more competitive is a chimera. Investment in manufacturing requires above all a predictable exchange rate for a period of at least 5 - 10 years and a dedicated domestic market. All that has been sabatoged by floating exchange rates that are tied to linkages that are impossible to predict 6 months in the future.

Canada's greatest period of prosperity, after WW2, in fact the period followng Confederation, was realized in a period of protected industry and stable exchange rates guaranteed by the Gold Standard and subsequently the Bretton Woods Agreement. All that has been dismantled in the Free Market era, beginning in the early 70s, with its empty, unkept promises of prosperity as the productive economy around us crumbles.

They are dictated by a criminal class of parasites of Wall Street that suck the lifeblood out of nation state economies and claim for themselves grotesque rewards of what is left of the world's productive economy. This works in lock step with Global Free Trade, in the power of Global Trading Oligarchies which depresses currencies to extort nations into exploiting workers at subsistence wages.

It is the manifest of a slave economy that enriches a minute percentage at the expense of billions struggling to feed their families. It is a snake eating its own tail, unsustainable over time... and it will lead us into an era of poverty and conflict which we haven't experienced in a millennia.

These so called cycles are like a bouncing ball on a downward staircase, reaching new lows on every down beat.. never achieving the height of the previous uptick on the rebound.. dissipating energy on every bounce.

There is something far more sinister going on the economic ebb and flow.

Wow. . . the voice of reason. Never thought I'd hear it here on CanCon.

The cycle makes you happy? You must think you will tough it out just fine. The economic cycle is only predictable with static or near static fundementals. Those are no where to be seen. If you're serious you will invest heavily in armaments and blood products.

China Exports Most Deflation To The US Since December 2009

Both Russia and China will decouple from USD this quarter and then the action will become chaotic.

The Canadian dollar is not collapsing against other currencies. The headline should really read: "Greenback soars!".

"Greenback." Ain't heard that in a long old time.

Here's a pleasing musical interlude, brought to you by Curious's invocation of colorful language:

"Trump wins rubber!"

(I wonder if anyone here will get that)
